Leven River Camping On Wattle Farm: Your Wilderness Escape
Discover Leven River Camping at Wattle Farm, a tranquil retreat nestled on the edge of the wilderness, where the river and forest greet you at your front door. This naturally forested 100-acre property is a haven for abundant native wildlife, offering an idyllic escape into nature.
When you book, you'll secure a site within one of our designated camping areas, with the freedom to choose your exact setup spot upon arrival. We offer two main areas: "The Big Paddock" (left of the road) and "The Little Paddock" (right of the road).
The Big Paddock is ideally suited for smaller campervans, tents, swags, off-road caravans, and camper trailers. Here, you can set up anywhere within its bounds; pitching your tent among the trees or along the river is perfect for a truly immersive experience. An approximately 3-acre clearing is also available by the river.
For easier access directly from the road, The Little Paddock is an excellent choice. While suitable for smaller vehicles, it's also ideal for larger caravans. This area offers approximately 5 acres of clearing right beside the river. Both paddocks are conveniently located just before the bridge and provide ample open space for outdoor activities like frisbee or cricket.
Natural Surroundings & Activities:
Leven River Camping borders the Dial Range Nature Recreation Area and a Nature Conservation Reserve. Our sites are set on lush, green, fern-filled river flats within a sometimes misty forested valley, cradled below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. The surrounding area boasts popular hiking and mountain biking trails.
The Leven River itself is a highlight, offering some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. You'll also find perfect spots for kayaking, along with private river beaches where you can relax, paddle, swim, or enjoy a picnic.
Access to the property is via a very scenic 4km, well-maintained gravel road that winds downhill to the base of the valley.
Important Information
No facilities are provided on-site. Guests must bring their own camping toilet (a dumping point is available in Knights Rd, West Ulverstone) and are responsible for all rubbish removal.

Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish.
The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours.
We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need.
The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found.
River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it.
Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave.
Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river)
Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept with you at all times, no roaming dogs as the road is close by.

So cool. Close to town, but you feel like you’re hours away. So well set up for the kids with sandpit, play equipment, fishing, kayaking, swimming, rope swing into the river and plenty of space for activities !

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. We stayed in area 1, nice and peaceful and secure location. 3 spots to choose from that had been cut level so you can easily set up your camper on. We were impressed how professionally the camp areas had been set up. Lots of water areas and other activities for children. Hosts were very welcoming, good location to stay if you enter 'Gone Nuts Race'

Beautiful spot beside the shallow flowing river. Kids saw a lobster and maybe a trout. Toilet was clean. Shower area looked fine and although I didn't use it I'm sure it worked.

It was so peaceful. Lovely and clean. A perfect spot. Definatley get the extras! The freshest eggs and we didn't have to lug any wood. He even chopped kindling for us.

Like a lot of places along the north coast of Tasmania there are amazing views from the lighthouse in Rocky Cape National Park. A lovely place to spend a few hours.

What an amazing place to visit!
Good access road with only a few kilometres of well maintained gravel road.
The rocky cliffs meet Bass Strait dramatically with gorgeous beaches filling the void between the lines of rocky protrusions.
The rich Indigenous history adds an extra dimension to the experience.
Enjoyable short walks cap off this fabulous experience.
