First Hipcamper Club

Earn this patch by being the first to spend a night outside at a new Hipcamp.

Preston Community Centre is located approximately a 25-minute drive from the coastal town of Ulverstone, with plenty of attractions and activities nearby, including Wings Wildlife Park, Preston Falls, Gunns Plains Caves, and much more. The Community Centre is open six days a week and features a licensed bar serving drinks at good old-fashioned prices in a warm, welcoming atmosphere where local farmers come to unwind. The bar is open Tuesday through Friday from 5:00 PM, Saturdays for events, and Sundays from 2:00 PM. A wheelchair-accessible toilet is located at the front of the Community Centre and is available 24 hours a day. There's plenty of room to set up and unwind while enjoying views of the dam and neighboring farmland. Please note that local sporting events are sometimes held on Saturdays. Upon arrival, the campground is located at the northern end of the Community Centre. Drive in, turn left, and continue between the two sheds to reach the camping area. Please note that after heavy rain, the campground may become soft.

Camping by the Dam Sit back, relax and unwind in a peaceful bush setting by the dam. • 🔥 Contained fire pots are welcome. Please bring your own firewood and only light fires when there are no fire restrictions in place. • 🚐 Plenty of open paddock space is available, so feel free to pull up and camp wherever suits you best. • ❄️ Winter mornings can be frosty, while summer days are generally warm—come prepared for the season. • ⚠️ Please be mindful of the overhead powerlines when choosing your campsite. • 🦘 Respect the local wildlife and enjoy the birds chirping around the property. • 🚯 Please leave your campsite as you found it and take all rubbish with you. Whether you’re stopping for a night or staying a little longer, we hope you enjoy the peace, fresh air and beautiful surroundings.
