Prossers Ridge Richmond is 52 acres of rural paradise within close proximity to the heritage town of Richmond. The topography slopes up from the road to a large flat top and is dotted with weathered gum trees. There are sweeping views in all directions, including a view of the sunrise to the east and spectacular sunset views toward Hobart's Kunanyi (Mount Wellington).
The property has good access for all vehicles and there are plenty of flat sites for camping at the top of the property. Some minor leveling may be required in parts for RVs and Caravans. Plenty of space though to find your own peaceful, private patch. And you're welcome to bring your dog along too!
Please note: some front wheel drive motorhomes have encountered difficulty getting up the driveway. If you have rented a Fiat Motorhome you wont be able to get to the campground

Our campsites are on scenic, levelled areas overlooking the large dam and bushland, with grassed areas ideal for tents and camper-vans, and a portaloo a short walk away. The block is a natural timber and grassland block, with devils, quolls and wombats also residing here. We have one powered site available, and multiple unpowered sites.
There is a lovely walking track around the dams periphery. Feed fish from the edge, spot platypus frolicking about, and keep your eye out for Peacocks wandering the property too. Whilst you are welcome to bring your dog with you, please ensure they don't harass the wildlife.

Access height has been raised to 3.7meters. Pine Ridge has been developed over the years to be a natural park land with a good variety of local vegetation including stands of mature trees. lower scrub has been removed for physical and viewing access and to keep the property more secure and manageable. The vegetation also provides significant protection on windy days compared to many other open places. Native animals and birdlife abound the location. There is a community pergola area beside the substantial water hole which has a small jetty allowing easy access for swimming. There is also a stone barbecue and fire pit area available on suitable weather conditions.
There are ocean views from the property's main road areas, which also provide a large area of flatish firm ground with large areas providing easy maneuverability and turning.
The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. It is sealed road except for the last 100meters and in good condition.
FIRES. Ok unless a fire ban. GOOD BAGS OF WOOD ON SITE FOR $20. NO OUTSIDE WOOD CAN BE BROUGHT ONTO THE PROPERTY AND BURNT. I HAVE TRIED TO MAKE A MIDDLE GROUND ON THIS ISSUE BUT UNFORTUNATELY SOME HAVE ABUSED THE FAIR RULES SO THIS IS NOW THE SITUATION.
NO FORAGING GROUND WOOD WITHOUT ASKING ME AND GETTING APPROVAL.
VEHICLES PER SITE. SEVERAL VEHICLES ( VANS, CAMPERS ECT) MAY BE ON A SITE IS COMMON WITH FRIEND GROUPS, BUT EACH MUST BE BOOKED SEPARATELY OR DONE WITH PRIOR ARRANGEMENT DIRECTLY WITH ME.

Our campsites are on scenic, levelled areas overlooking the large dam and bushland, with grassed areas ideal for tents and camper-vans, and a portaloo a short walk away. The block is a natural timber and grassland block, with devils, quolls and wombats also residing here. We have one powered site available, and multiple unpowered sites.
There is a lovely walking track around the dams periphery. Feed fish from the edge, spot platypus frolicking about, and keep your eye out for Peacocks wandering the property too. Whilst you are welcome to bring your dog with you, please ensure they don't harass the wildlife.

Access height has been raised to 3.7meters. Pine Ridge has been developed over the years to be a natural park land with a good variety of local vegetation including stands of mature trees. lower scrub has been removed for physical and viewing access and to keep the property more secure and manageable. The vegetation also provides significant protection on windy days compared to many other open places. Native animals and birdlife abound the location. There is a community pergola area beside the substantial water hole which has a small jetty allowing easy access for swimming. There is also a stone barbecue and fire pit area available on suitable weather conditions.
There are ocean views from the property's main road areas, which also provide a large area of flatish firm ground with large areas providing easy maneuverability and turning.
The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. It is sealed road except for the last 100meters and in good condition.
FIRES. Ok unless a fire ban. GOOD BAGS OF WOOD ON SITE FOR $20. NO OUTSIDE WOOD CAN BE BROUGHT ONTO THE PROPERTY AND BURNT. I HAVE TRIED TO MAKE A MIDDLE GROUND ON THIS ISSUE BUT UNFORTUNATELY SOME HAVE ABUSED THE FAIR RULES SO THIS IS NOW THE SITUATION.
NO FORAGING GROUND WOOD WITHOUT ASKING ME AND GETTING APPROVAL.
VEHICLES PER SITE. SEVERAL VEHICLES ( VANS, CAMPERS ECT) MAY BE ON A SITE IS COMMON WITH FRIEND GROUPS, BUT EACH MUST BE BOOKED SEPARATELY OR DONE WITH PRIOR ARRANGEMENT DIRECTLY WITH ME.

The Dragon River camp ground is one of the best places we have ever stayed! You have the whole massive site to yourselves and you are surrounded by lush green foliage with a river running past. We were lucky enough to get up early and see a platypus right near the site.
The owners have recently added a sauna and plunge pool, which looked fantastic!

A beautiful, pristine piece of wilderness has been shared by Peter and Kim. The entire area looks so lovingly prepared, from providing a trolley for campers to carry items, fairy lights set up, stairs built for access to waterfalls. A platypus feeding was in the section of river right where we parked. A unique experience.

Our stay at Ladybug Camping was a truly special experience. The campsites are wonderfully secluded and private, and it’s clear that Peter and Kim have put a lot of thought and care into creating such a magical place—no doubt with a little inspiration from a special someone else in the family.
We stayed at Campsite 6, which is very generously sized and would easily accommodate multiple families camping together. We also had a look at Campsite 4, which looked equally inviting, with even a hammock offering a perfect spot to relax.
The track in is well-made and easy to navigate—again, a sign that real effort and investment has gone into making the experience smooth and enjoyable.
This Hipcamp is about as good as it gets for self-sufficient campers. A serene, magical forest setting, complete with your own creek gently bubbling nearby, makes it incredibly easy to unwind. One thing that’s probably underappreciated is how well protected the valley is from the often blustery Tassie westerly winds—if it’s windy, this is exactly where you want to be!
Peter is a fantastic host and a great communicator. Thank you—we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely love to return.

For powered sites be aware that only limited power is shared between all the sites. Discuss this with other campers. If more than two people use air conditioners or electric heaters for heating the power will trip. Arrange between yourselves to stagger consumption. Don’t ruin this place by giving it a one star review because you are too selfish to share power and wear appropriate clothing.

The amenities were better than I expected - the nicest port-a-loos I’ve seen camping! The only downside was the public BBQ we used wasn’t super efficient to heat up, so we ended up using our own camping stove instead.
Scott was a gem - even jumped my car when I accidentally drained the battery! Thank you for a great stay, would definitely come back.

We loved staying for 5 nights at Lady Chapel Campground. The space between campers was fantastic and the host friendly and easy to communicate with. Beautiful views and loved the big gum trees. $30 firewood was a generous amount. Thanks for sharing your property Nigel!

Lovely camping spot in a great location, with a relaxed atmosphere and a well-organised setup. The amenities are consistently clean, especially the toilet, which makes a big difference. I’d definitely recommend it for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Beautiful spot, got in early for the easter rush and had the pick of sites. Running creek, kookaburras singing, grass maintained and fire pits available. Toilet and showers clean, spiderwebs included! Lighting adequate but could be improved. BYO toiletpaper just incase. Recommend BYO firewood. Great spot and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thanks again.

At the southern end, the pink mountains of Freycinet National Park provide a prime backdrop for bushwalking and camping, with options from basic campsites to luxury glamping retreats.
Launceston and North
Launceston is the gateway to northern Tasmania, where you can hop between colonial towns, sample Tassie wines in the Tamar Valley, or catch coastal views and diverse wildlife at the Narawntapu and Mt. William national parks.
North West
