Located conveniently 45kms south of Townsville and Magnetic Island ferry terminal,45km north of Ayr and 8km north of Giru. The 20-acre dam is very dry at the moment (November/December) , with lots of weeds and Lilly pads. Birds are loving it! On arrival, powered sites, please phone our on-site caretaker Dylan 0488 611 706, and he can assist you to find a spot that suits you and your group. Unpowered sites can choose anywhere suitable for them. We do have internet reception. Occasionally reception can be weak depending on what the network is doing. Generally, it is not a problem. Bring Mosquito/sandfly spray especially if camping by the lake. Campfires allowed. Wood for sale, $10 cash per milk crate, from camp kitchen. Please be honest and place cash in the "Honesty Box". Fire rings are available at the sites. Please leave them where they are as moving them is destroying the surrounding areas. Thankyou. Pet friendly. Our property on Magnetic Island in beautiful Picnic Bay is a stunning, flat, block of land, located just 400m from the beaches, restaurants and hotel. The block is private and secluded, with NO amenities, but just metres from everything! The Golf course is located right behind us and a bus stop is within 50m walk, that will take you all around the island. There are several glorious camp spots shaded by mature paperbark trees, overlooking Butler's Creek, which often runs during the wet season. The block is large and flat, perfectly suitable for campervans, tents, caravans and large motorhomes. There is a water available onsite for campers' use. You are able to fill your tank but are asked not to 'connect up', as it is for the use of ALL guests. To stay with us, you MUST be FULLY SELF-CONTAINED with your own toilet/shower facilities and power. Please leave no waste on the property and NO trace of your stay. The property is located in a wildlife corridor and we have koalas, kookaburras, curlews, wallabies and other animal residents nearby. Your dog is welcome onsite but must be on a leash at all times so as not to disturb guests or upset our wildlife. Please pick up it's waste at all times. IMPORTANT NOTE: If your dog disrupts other guests or neighbours by barking, or is threatening in anyway, you will be asked to leave the property without refund. Magnetic Island is located 8km offshore from Townsville and is accessed via a passenger ferry that operates every hour from the city and a vehicle barge that operates several times a day. Book via the 'Sealink' website. "Maggie" as the island is affectionately known, has a permanent population of about 3000 people. There are a two supermarkets, a medical centre, several resorts, dozens of restaurants and many other amenities to cater for residents and tourists. There are spectacular beaches, bush walks, koala spotting, boat tours, reef dive operators, art galleries, homeware shops, restaurants, coffee shops, a brewery, pubs and a bus stop nearby. Whilst here, be sure to feed the wild rock wallabies in Arcadia, go to the Toad Races at Arcadia Hotel, enjoy the Forts Walk to learn about the region's history, and take a boat tour on Aquascene cruises. Such a beautiful spot! Walking distance to Horse Shoe Bay - plenty of restaurants to choose from! Walking distance to The Forts walk- we saw lots of Koalas in the trees. We walked to Arcadia which was a beautiful walk, but there are bus stops just up and down the road! Tee & Stevie were amazing hosts- giving us great recommendations on what to do on the island & restaurants! Site was well set up - nice & level as we were in a roof top tent! Bush shower was great and heaps of wildlife! We will definitely return in the dry season!

My absolute go-to spot when passing through Townsville, always a lovely stay! Even after all the recent rain and mud, the amenities were spotless. The hosts are fantastic as ever. A quick note to fellow campers: tiny things like bottle caps or yogurt lids on the ground add up fast. Same with food scraps, they attract unwanted critters. Let's all Leave Every Place Better than we found it. Spot any trash? Pick it up and pack it out, it keeps these special spots available for everyone!

Weekend Trip to Our little peace of country

Jenny and her husband are very friendly and welcoming. We had the whole property to ourselves. There are plenty of spots on the block to choose from. Our dog really enjoyed herself also. It was easy to find, very peaceful with plenty of birds and wildlife. It was a great spot for an overnight stay on our way through.

Weekend Trip to Bush Retreat

Perfect for a night or a month. All you need. Shower is a bonus to wash off the salt water. When Matthew is not around, his dad Wayne is a marvelous host. Really missed the camp fire due to fire restrictions. Lots of natural bush life. Would definitely go back

My partner and I enjoyed our stay at this campsite. There was an area outside where there were cushions and we could sit and spend the evening. It also has an outdoor shower. A very natural and recommended site, easy to access.

I spent 1 night here with my family. The camp is big, so lot of space between each camper which allow privacy. Dylan who welcomed us was super friendly and very helpful. We saw a lot of wallabies all around, our kids loved it. Electricity and water work great. Toilets and shower are also meeting expectations. We did not use kitchen equipment, however it looked a bit messy and it old.

Weekend Trip to The Forts

We staid at Tee and Steve camp 3 nights. We had a great time and would definitely come back. First, Tee welcomed us with open arms, showing us the camp, sharing so many tips about the island (where to eat, where to swim, where to have a drink, etc). The camp is super quiet. First night we were alone, second night 3 other campers where on site. And still, everyone had its own private space. In the morning we could ear birds singing. The camp is only 5-10 minutes walk from bus station that is taking you all around the island. And Tee was available all time via Hipcamp message when ever we had a question. Great host!

8 nights at The Forts

Tee's place is an absolute gem. From the moment I drove off the barge onto the island and was greeted by Tee, I knew I was going to have the perfect island getaway. A special mention to Neil, who welcomed me and showed me around Tee's place while they were on the mainland. Five stars Neil! The place itself is quiet, private and an easy walk to Horseshoe Bay, the start of walks and the bus stops. Native birds and wildlife are everywhere and I loved sharing their space. Not to mention the little ladies (The chickens), who made me feel right at home. The bush shower is divine, private and surrounded by native plants. A blessing in the heat. And then of course there is Tee and Steve. Well, they are the most wonderful, down to earth, fun and genourus people. They have a knack for making you feel like you're home on their beautiful slice of heavenly bush. I couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to be for the 10 days I was there. Thank you superstars.... I will be back, Bronnie😊❤️

Great park, hiking and swimming, lots of little frogs! Really good campground, inexpensive, toilets not clean.
