Lovely little camping spot for two local families looking for a quick getaway. We set up camp beside the dam, with just a short walk down to Black River, where we ended up spending most of our time.
The river had a great stretch of shallow water, which was perfect for the kids to splash around and play safely. They also loved seeing the horses next door, which was a nice bonus.
There was a fire pit available, and plenty of wood for us to collect and build a fire. You can see the hosts’ home and neighbouring property from the campsite, so at first I was a little worried we might be too noisy with young kids, but we still felt like we had enough space and privacy.
The hosts were excellent with communication, and overall it was a great little spot for a relaxed family camping trip.

Jenny and her husband are very friendly and welcoming. We had the whole property to ourselves. There are plenty of spots on the block to choose from. Our dog really enjoyed herself also. It was easy to find, very peaceful with plenty of birds and wildlife.
It was a great spot for an overnight stay on our way through.

Jenny is an excellent host. She is super friendly and the property is lovely. We have returned for a second time because our first experience was so good. The kids love going down to the river which is just nearby the campsites. Definitely will return at some point maybe after the weather has cooled down.

Peaceful bliss

We had the place to ourselves and it was so peaceful! We parked the van right next to the dam and walked down to the creek a couple of times a day which the kids and dog loved splashing about in. We saw wallabies every afternoon and enjoyed a fire by the dam each night. Beautiful spot with lovely welcoming hosts, 100% would recommend!

Relaxing weekend close to home

We had a lovely stay. Very close to town, but quiet and relaxing without a long drive to reach our destination. We parked overlooking the dam and it was an easy walk down to the river for our grandchildren to go wading and exploring. Thanks a chillaxed weekend.

Great place for a stopover and shopping in Townsville. Our stay was so we could get a car service and tyre rotation., otherwise we would have found a more picturesque and quieter location. Host was good and directions easy.

Great little camp spot close to town.
The property backs onto the Black River which is just a short stroll to get to and water right there.
Lovely hosts and great communication.
We had the place to ourselves so camped right on the dam with our 2 dogs. Nice and relaxing

Absolutely LOVED our stay here! We booked for one night and ended up staying for 3. Beautiful camping right on the dam, short walk to the fresh water creek at the back (perfect swim spot, dogs loved it too) and good fishing up at the mouth of the river. Owners were so friendly and welcoming, we will be back!

We enjoyed our stay at Our Little Peace of Country. Very peaceful, awesome bird life, fantastic campgrounds and most of all... lovely hosts. Thank you Jenny and Clarke. We recommend staying at this Hipcamp, for nomads and families. Dee and Pete.

Thank you for the nice quiet camping spot. Plenty of room to park up for the night and only 15minutes to town. Birds and wallabies were are bonus. Will stay longer next time.

Wonderful experience camping at Jenny's property. The kids had so much fun. They took trips down the short walk to black river and played in the stream. There were convenient fire pits for use and we had privacy.
We can definitely recommend this site. Thanks again!
