In wet conditions you will need a 4WD to access these sites. Figtree Farm has an abundance of bird and animal life. Here, tranquillity reigns, save for the occasional serenade of our friendly neighbourhood donkeys and the odd rooster. If you wish to wander further afield, Wiangaree is 15 minutes away and Kyogle is a 30 minute drive south. For those who enjoy a game of tennis there is an all weather tennis court (with lights) nearby at Bundgeam Hall. But if your dog is not friendly or is likely to venture into someone else camping area, than will have to be on a leash. If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m high waterfall, nature at it's best. In the vicinity you have the Clarence river at Paddy's Flat Road and Hootons Road within minutes drive from the property. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in 1993 was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

Option 2: From the Centenary Freeway roundabout, at ripley head 21 km along Ripley Road, which continues and changes name to Undullah Road. Our campground is on my family’s dairy farm that has been in the family since 1904. I’m the 4th generation on the farm and work alongside my parents and my husband operating the family business of milking cows. The campsite is on a private area of flat ground right beside the Oxley River with views of Mt Warning. We are excited to share our piece of paradise with others. We DO have a composting toilet but DON’T have any shower facilities. Although the creek is very close by we advise you bring your own drinking water. We are pleased to provide a gravelled campfire area along with a gorgeous outdoor setting that seats 8. Our campground provides a unique private camping opportunity. Once you book whether it is for a group of one or 25 no one else can book the site. The site is not visible from the road. Perfect for a relaxing getaway that brings you close to nature and connecting with friends. As we are a working farm, unfortunately, we cannot allow pets.

Weekend Trip to Larapinta

Beautiful place, absoulte gem and must be protected at all cost. The rules are basic leave the place the same or better as you found it, and be respectful. Highly recommend, the cows were friendly and their communal area is well kept with a posh portaloo and hot showers, there is also a small communal kitchen with basic appliances. We stayed in the Woody cabin which is easy 2wd access, the rest of the site is deffinalty 4wd with some steep and rough climbs.

The location is beautiful, with the creek running nearby, it was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy nature. My kids had a great time exploring the surroundings and playing by the creek. We had the absolute best time at Eagle 🦅 Ridge. We stayed at the clamp Tent site. This provided a private stretch of the river which was just perfect. Our Jack Russell absolutely loved it. The hosts were also amazing as we requested some extra firewood and they bought it down straight away. We will certainly be back to visit Eagle 🦅 Ridge camp ground which is by far now our favourite camp site. We are both looking forward to our next trip to Eagle Ridge!!

Stephen & Sharon have honestly created one of the best Hipcamps we’ve ever stayed at. The property is massive, with most of it dedicated to conservation, and you can really see the difference — the wildlife, the scenery, everything just feels untouched and properly looked after. It’s so refreshing. They’ve got kayaks and gold pans you can use for free, which is such a cool touch. There’s a great mix of accommodation too — bell tents, treehouses and standard campsites — all spaced out really well so you’re not on top of each other. There are toilets and showers scattered across the property, plus a beautiful camp kitchen with a fridge, utensils, pizza oven, and heaps of character/history inside. Couldn’t recommend this place more. Absolute 10/10. We’ll definitely be back.

Me and my partner stayed here for a couple of nights, we were very happy with the way the camp had been set up. The site sits with a beautiful part of the river right in front of it, where we spent a lot of the day relaxing and swimming in. We would recommend this to anyone wanting a quiet trip away to be surrounded by nature :)

Have you ever found that absolute secluded hideaway and think this is perfect I shouldn't tell another soul about this place! Well, this is it but its too magical to keep to myself. It's seriously well setup and thought out. The adventure starts on the track to get to the site and then its just serenity, nature and maybe a lucky sighting of Larry the Goanna and the pair of vibrant blue kingfishers. I brought in too much stuff thinking off grid but there was an array of cookware, BBQ, sideburners, a solar powered Kings esky fridge and a hot shower.

Weekend Trip to Clarence River Wilderness Lodge

The H2 treehouse on the Clarence river was very enjoyable and well supplied for equipment in the kitchenette. The rustic charm of the living quarters made whiling the hours away to the soft babble of the river rapids and the wind gusts through the trees most pleasant. Sharon and Steven were accommodating hosts and were more than happy to provide recommendations as needed. We used a 4x4 to access the lodge which made light work of the sometimes rocky track and the wildlife we saw during our long weekend stay included colourful songs birds, goannas and ducks. We loved using the free canoes on the 1km stretch of river but sadly we did not see any platypus - hopefully we will see them next time!

Stayed a few nights in a cabin, the bird and running water sounds of the river made it so peaceful. Sat by a fire and enjoyed the stars, swam in the rapids, just a Great place to get away from it all! BACK TO NATURE!! Kathy is absolutely great host. The caravan we stayed was great. We were 5 family members and we faced no issues at all in staying at her place in her caravan. The caravan was clean and tidy. There is a kitchen, toilet and beds. The location where it parked was absolutely fabulous, serene and private. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend her caravan for others too.

Beautiful stretch of the river. Great to be off grid for a few days. The camp kitchen was well appointed with a stunning view. The double tree hut was cosy with a useful kitchenette and you really felt you were in the trees!
