One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m high waterfall, nature at it's best. In the vicinity you have the Clarence river at Paddy's Flat Road and Hootons Road within minutes drive from the property. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in 1993 was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

Located 19 km due east of the famous historical village of Tenterfield the working, cattle breeding, property "Mindoo" has recently opened its gates to campers. Framed by the rugged border range National Parks "Mindoo" is 1100 acres of rolling green hills dissected by the pure, cascading, waters of the Cataract River which provide a number of private riverside campsites. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided. Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart. As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites and are required for some site. Please read the listing for the campsite you are wanting to book. Some of our sites do not suit caravans. All roads require high clearance vans. If you do not like dogs or your own dogs are not very sociable Mindoo may not be the place for you. Daisy the Doodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle) and Paul the Pig Dog (a very gentle Bull Mastif/Catahoula) like to come and say hello to campers at The Park & The Junction. Kathy is absolutely great host. The caravan we stayed was great. We were 5 family members and we faced no issues at all in staying at her place in her caravan. The caravan was clean and tidy. There is a kitchen, toilet and beds. The location where it parked was absolutely fabulous, serene and private. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend her caravan for others too.

Beautiful stretch of the river. Great to be off grid for a few days. The camp kitchen was well appointed with a stunning view. The double tree hut was cosy with a useful kitchenette and you really felt you were in the trees!

Beautiful spot with a fantastic view camp trailer was clean and had all the equipment needed in the kitchen, whole camp ground was very tidy including toilet and showers, great creek for kids to play ,lots of bush walks for all levels of fitness and some really nice swimming holes. I had a great time and will definitely be going back.

Weekend Trip to Rainforest Gateway

Gorgeous part of the world. Well kept camping grounds with hotshowers and toilets near the camp kitchen. Camp kitchen was immaculate with microwave, kettle, washing facilities, cooktop and castiron over the fire, along with a lounge space and plenty of board games for the kids. Small hill from the powered camping which was also a minute stroll down to the creek.

The place was clean and tidy and was well looked after. The animas are so gorgeous and add to the charm of the place. Sunsets and open fires were fabulous. Would highly recommend it!!!

I cannot recommend this camp enough! the owners Heidi and Damen were so welcoming and were able to answer any and all questions we had! The cabin was remarkably presented and the surrounding property was lovely and well maintained! The goats and miniature horses were definitely a highlight and a great piece of entertainment, especially when the food came out! It was easy to find, peaceful and secluded all whilst being close to town! No complaints, we will be back for sure!

We loved our stay in the glamping tent. The facilities were excellent and the site itself was amazing. Having our own private stretch of the river was very tranquil. Tubing down the rapids further up the river is a must during any stay at Eagle Ridge. Have recommended to friends and will definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Undullah-Moore farm

We loved our stay at Undullah- Moore Farm. The Farmhouse Cottage is well appointed with all the comforts of home but the fire pit, woodford hot tub, 4wd track and spacious, private position at the top of the hill, with its extensive views of farmland and Flinders Peak, gave enough of a feel of escaping the city. The hospitality was warm and genuine, facilities spot on and the atmosphere property itself immaculate. 10/10.

Sitting at the base of Mt Barney and with a small creek for you to cool off and swim, very safe for kids and little ones, very close access to main hikes of Mt Barney, the hosts were lovely and thoroughly enjoyed our chats with them! Everyone else camping were clean and quiet and made for a relaxing time No cell reception, which is great to switch off Knowledgeable staff Good amenities block with warm shower Our views were looking straight at the mountain. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we have recommended to friends and family since, we will be back :)

Beautiful place to spend some time with family and pets. Very friendly animals such as goats, horses, cows and even a donkey on the other side! We really enjoyed our time at Duchess Farm. I was expecting an outdoor BBQ as it was included on the photo but there was none unfortunately

Amazing camping location. The campgrounds were exactly as described, well maintained and easy to access. We had a relaxing and wonderful time with our two dogs. The private river is beautiful and surrounded by stunning scenery. We also spent a few nights in the tiny home, which was equally enjoyable and very convenient, with access to the BBQ, deck, and comfortable lounge area. Dan and Kristy were excellent hosts and very accommodating. By far best communication we’ve experienced at any Hipcamp we’ve stayed at. We will definitely be returning.
