Great spot, nice view with the sunset. John was super friendly and bought us up some honey and eggs. Very private. Was super easy with a 4 year old and a dog. Dog was able to be off the lead the whole time. If you want an easy relaxing spot, close to home then this is definitely worth checking out. Also close to Scotts/Grassy head if you wanna hit the beach and go for a swim.

Me and my partner and our two dogs had the best stay at John and Leslie’s farm. So welcoming, friendly and peaceful, would 100% come here again. Highly recommend for a quiet night with an amazing view. :)

Water Gums Farm Stay

Pitching up a tent at Water Gums was such a breeze. John is super lovely and generous - having a little chat and offering me any help I might need over my stay. He was also more than willing to recommend some nice hikes around the area.
The camp site itself is lovely - definitely feels the Sourtherly when it comes through but worth it for the gorgeous sunsets and picturesque hilltop views.
10/10 I would stay there again in a heart beat.

John was warm and welcoming and the hilltop site is well located with respect to beaches and cute towns (Macksville in particular has a lovely pool and shops). There is also easy access to Yarriabini National Park and the Sea to Summit trail, which runs from the Yarriabini summit to Grassy Head. The site is quite open with layered views to surrounding bush, amazing nature and so many stars! Thanks John and Leslie!

Beautiful spot on the hill to watch the sunrise and sunset. Very peaceful and lovely to see the black cockies flying over before settling in to stargaze with a fire.

John and Leslie are great host. This spot is easily accessible and was awesome for an overnight stop when travelling. Enough room for the dogs to roam, and that country feeling - only 5 minutes off the highway.

John and Leslie were really lovely hosts - very helpful, great communication and a thoughtful gift of their honey. We had booked the hill top site but John advised a few days beforehand that it was very dusty and we'd be more comfortable down beside the creek. The creek site was very private, looking over paddocks with lots of birds during the day. Unfortunately at night the traffic on the freeway was very loud and constant. Not sure if that would be the case on the hill top site, Pity, as the location is very convenient.

John and Leslie were exceptional hosts! So beautiful and generous. John went so far out of his way to make sure we had a good stay. When the heat picked up he switched us to a different site that would be more comfortable. He even drove us out to the site and brought our gear over on his tractor when our 2wd couldn’t make it. The property was so gorgeous and in an amazing location so close to Scott’s head. John and Leslie are beautifully kind and generous people. Would recommend!
