Our guests are welcome to feed some of the farm animals which include sheep, alpacas, chooks and peacocks. Watching the kangaroos foraging in nearby paddocks is one of the truly special experiences of a visit to The Grange on Kalgan.

The sunsets from the campsite over the Porongurup Ranges are a great way to finish each day at Rocky's Retreat. Meet our friendly resident sheep - pellets available to feed them, and they love pats!
We only accept one booking at a time to allow our guests privacy and plenty of space.

We are located approx. 40km from Mt Barker, 50km from Albany, 15km to Porongurup National Park and 45km to Stirling Range National Park. Within a short drive you can find incredible local wineries, cafes and restaurants. The property makes a great base camp for day trips to Denmark, Albany, Mt Barker, Stirling Ranges and the Porongurup Ranges. If you are wanting to cool off at the campsite, a swimming spot on the upper Kalgan River is 800 metres down the road.
Please note - we have recently undertaken significant native revegetation around the camp site, planting approx. 6,000 native seedlings for native flora and fauna habitat. Therefore, the site looks different to some of the previous photos showing open paddocks. Please refer to the photo in our listing taken in Summer that shows the native revegatation with tree guards around each seedling.
Campers must be self-contained, with their own in-built camp toilet, and leave no trace. Dump points are available in Mt Barker and Albany. Telstra works in most areas. We don't take bookings for tents/swags by themselves at this stage.

The Rockcliffe vineyard was originally an apple orchard. In 1990, the first vines were planted, and in 2007 we built a "State of the Art winery", which is located on the property. Rockcliffe is now the biggest winery in the region. We sell wines all over the world and in Australia. We focus on producing small batches of high-quality wines, all of which can be tasted at the Rockcliffe Cellar Door.
We welcome self-contained travelers to come and stay for 1, 2 or 3 nights maximum. On booking your site, you will be amongst the vines on one of our levelled bays which are allocated on a first come basis. It is important you have your own toilet, as we do not offer facilities here outside of our cellar door hours.
Overflow camping is also available in the paddock across from the winery, suitable over summer when it is dry and we are running our summer music events over the weekend. Please get in touch to enquire about this.
The place is very quiet, being in a rural setting, but only 4km from Denmark town. If you are a cyclist, this is an ideal place to stay. We have a mountain biking track that goes around the vines, paddocks, and through the forests, all of which are part of the beautiful Rockcliffe property. The camping areas are a very short walk to the cellar door where you can taste all of our delicious wines or treat your children to Gelato and Fudge. We also offer Cheese Platters, Pizza's and Fries.
The kitchen is open from 12-4pm for lunch Sunday through till Thursday and from 1-7pm for lunch and dinner Friday and Saturdays.

The track through the forest to the main campsite is about 3.5m wide, it can get a little slippery so caution is needed, a 4WD is recommended if towing a camper or caravan during the winter months. 2WD is ok in summer months.
There is one transportable long drop toilet near site 1.
There is a fire pit for cooking but other from that you have to be self sufficient.
There is access to drinking water up at the house.

Probably the best hip camp we’ve ever stayed at. To start dean met us at the cottage and was quality from the start. Very friendly and very funny bloke, lovely dog too. We followed him down a fairly short but fun little off road track to the perfect camping spot. We had a camper trailer and swag and access was easy enough. Surrounded by huge karri trees and endless bush to explore it’s so peaceful and private, there’s a dam with kayaks and plenty of tracks you can walk. It’s also a great location for Denmark town and beaches. My 10 month old loved just crawling around the open spaces and watching the birds and kangaroos. We will 100% stay here again. Can’t recommend enough.

Rockcliffe Winery is a real hidden gem for off-grid camping. Beautiful vineyard setting and peaceful nights. Steve was very welcoming and we had a good chat. The pizza and gelato were a highlight — fresh, tasty, and such a lovely surprise. Sitting back with a glass of Malbec, good food, and gorgeous views was pure bliss. We’ll definitely be back.

Great little spot to base and explore Albany/mt barker region. Peaceful and quiet, hosts are great, a touch on the pricey side but the benefit is you have the whole spot to yourself to enjoy.

We really loved staying at Rickety Gate. It is so peaceful and relaxing. The property is beautifully maintained and cared for. The four camping sites are spaced apart so ample room to reverse and relatively private. The whole experience was stress free. The filtered and pressured rainwater was a great feature. The caravan parked on mats situated in the lush lawn so no need for an awning mat. We were enthusiastically greeted by Russ on arrival but he then left us in peace unless we needed to contact him for anything.
An easy access dump point is situated in town just a short ride through the magnificent forest tourist drive. The surrounds are all very picturesque and close with plenty of choice for walking, beach and eating. We found the people of Denmark so friendly and welcoming without exception.
Highly recommended for child free and dog free campers.

We loved our stay at Rockcliffes. Steve is a great host—relaxed and very welcoming. The sites are spacious and level, right alongside the vines, which made it a great place to camp.
The cellar door is excellent, the wines are delicious, and there are good beers on tap as well if wine isn’t your thing. The pizza was also really good.
We’d definitely come back. Thanks again, Steve.

We really enjoyed our 3 nights here. We came down to meet up with friends to explore this area. Our host (Stephanie) was lovely, the ciders were yummy (thanks Paige), and the bull/ cows/ alpacas/ and geese in the paddocks nearby provided us with plenty of entertainment. Great location. So close to Denmark, Nornalup, Walpole. Very peaceful. Highly recommend. We will be back!

The sites were perfect for the ultimate off grid camping. There were so many kangaroos jumping around and they had such a range of animals to look at!
Stephanie was a great host and their coders and beers were 10/10. Stunning views and a lot of bird life around as well. We loved our stay

What a wonderful stay. The perfect, quiet location. Loved morning visits with Toolio the bull. He loved a sneaky apple!
Sites are well maintained. I note someone here this week also left a review that there is a sign saying " no Caravans past this point" however we found all the correct information in our arrival directions. The turn around option down in the area is huge too.
The farm animals are the perfect delight for the kids (and me) we will absolutely be back! Such an ideal location, well kept 👌
