Situated in West Gippsland, Casa Cucina is a feast for the senses from the alpine majesty of the Baw Baw Plateau, the Bunyip State Forest, the lush green valleys, to the rivers and streams… there is always something to do in West Gippsland for the curious. Other attractions in the area are Gumbuya World, Nangara Reserve, Noojee and Neerim South, PLUS of course the wineries. The Tarago River backs onto our small yet spacious, open yet shaded space. The river is shallow for paddling, as well as ‘swimmable’ (at your own risk), a lovely spot to cool off on our warm summer days, or a mesmerising place to sit, watch, read, contemplate, draw or write. Some large old Mountain Ash remain along the river bank, with lots of new plantings. It is not uncommon to see an echidna, a variety of stunning birdlife, and on dusk, maybe a wombat family. We also host a family of platypus if you are very quiet. Our river block can hold up to 4 caravans (under 10 metres) and a couple of tents in one group (one booking). In addition, the upper adjoining block can accommodate 2 caravans (enquire for this option). This is a single group occupancy site so you can enjoy the privacy of your group. If you wish to hook into our powered site, please add $10 per night, per van. All campers will also have access to our Casa Cucina gorgeous eclectic, quirky community space to sit in out of the weather. Please note: This is not an accommodation space. As a reminder, all campers will need to be Self Contained as we have no toilet facilities, no access to fresh water, cold showers only and no cooking facilities. Horses sometimes graze the paddock and poo is picked up but if you're lucky you might find some remnants! No wild party groups, please! Please respect the peaceful surrounds, our family & neighbours, so please keep the noise down after 10pm. We are 1 hour East of Melbourne along the M1, (and a couple of kms off the M1). Situated in West Gippsland, Casa Cucina is a feast for the senses from the alpine majesty of the Baw Baw Plateau, the Bunyip State Forest, the lush green valleys, to the rivers and streams… there is always something to do in West Gippsland for the curious. Other attractions in the area are Gumbuya World, Nangara Reserve, Noojee and Neerim South, PLUS of course the wineries. The Tarago River backs onto our small yet spacious, open yet shaded space. The river is shallow for paddling, as well as ‘swimmable’ (at your own risk), a lovely spot to cool off on our warm summer days, or a mesmerising place to sit, watch, read, contemplate, draw or write. Some large old Mountain Ash remain along the river bank, with lots of new plantings. It is not uncommon to see an echidna, a variety of stunning birdlife, and on dusk, maybe a wombat family. We also host a family of platypus if you are very quiet. Our river block can hold up to 4 caravans (under 10 metres) and a couple of tents in one group (one booking). In addition, the upper adjoining block can accommodate 2 caravans (enquire for this option). This is a single group occupancy site so you can enjoy the privacy of your group. If you wish to hook into our powered site, please add $10 per night, per van. All campers will also have access to our Casa Cucina gorgeous eclectic, quirky community space to sit in out of the weather. Please note: This is not an accommodation space. As a reminder, all campers will need to be Self Contained as we have no toilet facilities, no access to fresh water, cold showers only and no cooking facilities. A fantastic and very quiet site. Soooo much better than the packed seaside camps. Steve was a great host ensuring we had power and understood the facilities available. Although we were in a motorhome Steve allowed us to use the ‘ man cave ‘ apartment so we could watch the cricket and use the shower too - thanks. Overall a great spot amongst the hills and valleys with good views. Thanks to Steve for a great night.

Our 3 night camping experience at Kangaroo Rise was nothing short of spectacular. The hosts Adrian and Sandy are 2 of the most gracious and helpful people you will ever meet! The site itself is very clean and spacious, surrounded by nature. Waking up to Cows moo'ing and Roos going about their mornings within stones throw away made for an absolutely memorable stay. We brought our dog along and he had a blast free roaming within a fenced off area (with other guests' permission of course). We couldn't stop commending the cleanliness and how well equipped the amenities were. It made sense because we learnt that a lot of effort was put into constructing the kitchen, shower and toilet area. It's definitely one of the best we've ever seen and we'll definitely be back. Thanks again Adrian and Sandy for your hospitality!

Our 4 nights were peaceful and I’ll remember watching the late afternoon rolling scenery of cows, wildlife, n summer skies…. And the fun days of exploring Prom country.

Amazing whole team. We had forgotten our tent rods and with was late the guy at the reception offered us to stay in a brand new cabin for free for the night (7 boys we were) the next day they offered us a cabin of 2 at fair prices. Facilities are new and clean and most importantly them is fantastic. One improvement would be to add a bit more ventilation in the main male toilets, someone relieved themselves and it took a while till the smell left. Overall would stay here again.

What a beautiful place. Birds galore and there are apparently platypus in the creek. Gorgeous and well kept little reserve obviously loved by generations of people. Gifted to the public by a visionary from long ago, it’s testament to what a little love and respect can do for the environment. Beautifully maintained but wear your thongs, sandals, shoes as there are one or two three corner jacks around.

Great place to stay, good access to toilets and potable water, other campsites were close by which made it comfortable as first time campers. Rangers were super helpful with showing us around and even assisted us with bringing over a fire pit. Would highly recommend for anyone starting their camping journey!
