Weekend Trip to Galea Ranch

10/10 I can not thank Wayne and Sharelle enough for the experience. The property is amazing. The camp spots were great, the eggs we purchased were the best eggs ever, the firewood was nice and dry with generous amounts and much cheaper than the bags from the service station. We visited this camp with one of our NDIS participants and it was just perfect. We felt super secure on the property and Wayne and Sharelle could not have been any better hosts if they tried. We also did a guided bush walk with Sharelle, where she showed us around the local state forrest and explained everything about the wildlife. Sharelles knowledge on deer hunting was amazing and we will definitely be back to do a weekend of guided deer hunting. This property was amazing, extremely well maintained and super safe if you are camping alone. The toilets and shower were extremely clean. The animals are great to wake up to each morning. We can not recommend this place enough. It was perfect. 10/10 We will definitely be back and be recommending the camp. We can not thank Wayne and Sharelle enough for being amazing hosts Paul, Tara and Josh

Beautiful well maintained site. Very friendly and accommodating hosts. My son loved feeding the cows. Lots of activities to do in the area but we didn't get around to much because we just enjoyed hanging out at camp. The waterfalls nearby are beautiful and there are lots of hikes to choose from. My favourite part was how quiet it got at night and how starry the sky is. Pure bliss.

My partner and I had a fantastic time at bay park scouts camp! The campsite was very soft from the pine needles on the floor, and green grass. We camped in cooler weather and only had one other camper near us, which was perfect. Michelle was very helpful and generous, answering all my texts about using different facilities, and sending a map so we could do a later check in and pick which campsite we wanted between a couple options she indicated on the map. We bought the fire barrel and wood extras and this was provided by the ranger when we got there. We also asked for more wood a few days in which was supplied at no extra cost. The park has lots of activities, my partner and I did mini golf and rode on the BMX track, both of which the park supplies the equipment for you. We didn’t pay any extra to use these activities or equipment. Michelle also offered to arrange for us to do archery but we ran out of time at no fault to Michelle. The whole experience was amazing and we will definitely be back!

We loved the location of Galea ranch. It was nestled in beautiful bushland. Our kids loved feeding the animals and Wayne and Sharelle went above and beyond to make our stay perfect! Would definitely recommend and will return!!

This was one of the best stays I have had on Hipcamp. Beautiful location close to the Cathedral Mountains. I took a trip with my daughter and we really enjoyed the experience we had had. Clean and neat site with a prepared campfire and wood ready and waiting to be lit. Privacy screen, benches around the campfire, and backed on to nature made the site beautiful and serene and comfortable . The shower was beautiful and so nice after the hike. Sharelle gave us food to give to the adorable cows. I will definitely be back again. ,

We also allow campfires only when fire restrictions aren't in place - which is often all summer. Children under 3 are free, but for insurance purposes, please mention them in the comments. Day visitors are $20 per person, which incudes a donkey patting session. This property has an overall capacity to ensure that our number of visitors remain low. This not only ensures that campers recieve the space and peace they look for in a campsite like this, but also so that we can ensure the bathrooms can be kept clean and not overloaded. This is also a part of our COVID safe plan. Due to this overall capacity it is important that you book for the number of people that you intend to have stay, as while we try to accomodate increases to booking numbers, they are not guaranteed unless booked. Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we have now entered our Fire Danger Period for the 2024/2025 Summer Season. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. Furthermore, we reserve the right to ask you not to light a fire regardless of TFB status if we feel weather conditions are unsafe, especially the wind element. We cannot plan the weather and the request to not light your campfires will most likely on the day and we will advise as such. You can hopefully spot our resident platypus and kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, wombats etc. There’s also abundant bird life including lyre birds and eagles. Explore all the Yarra Ranges has to offer including a short walk to Shiprock Falls. Grab a coffee or pizza in nearby Gembrook and checkout some farm produce from your hosts before you leave. We have added a composting toilet, a drinking water tank and a bush pole shelter with cold water kitchen sink, phone charger ports, lights and hot water to a private shower and a picnic table with seats under cover. We have an adjacent fire pit area with tree log seating. You can order firewood from us too and a Coleman gas cooker with gas bottle (see extras). Most of the materials are repurposed from another property or scavenged from our forest. We hope to see you soon.

Trickle Hill Cottage

Trickle Hill is a lovely cottage tucked away at the edge of our bush. You have your own little patio, and can go for adventurous walks straight from your living room ! We are close to Dandenong ranges, Yarra valley, Bunyip state park, and Puffing Billy. We are just behind Avalon castle- so great if you are attending a wedding We welcome couples, solo adventurers and families. We are of course LGBTI+ friendly! Dogs are very welcome. The cottage is a converted shed, with three bedrooms, a lovely living area and a cosy closed woodfire. We have a sheltered outdoor area, where you can have a barbeque, or have a small fire in a firedish. The cottage is in the bush, so you can walk out and try to find our resident breeding pair of Lyrebirds, echidnas, wombats, wallabies and kangaroos or the deer that live in our 'back yard'. Or just roam, which shouldn't be too hard on 67 acres . We are close to massive areas of bush with open trails. Dogs are very welcome- no cats. As we live in the bush, we do our best to keep everything as 'green' as we can- so please don't use harsh chemicals. Living in the bush brings with it that you cannot light a fire in fire danger periods, and, heating on a woodstove, means there is a hot stove in the room. (watch those little fingers...) Our aim is to give you a place of rest and enjoyment. We love to share our space as we love it here so much- and hope you love it too. As life is a project - don't expect 10* linen and luxury, state of the art gardens and clipped lawns, but a friendly welcoming atmosphere where you can be yourself and relax. We love to have visitors, and chat for a bit- or leave you to relax. The cottage is on the edge of the bush, where you are welcome to roam on the tracks or off them- at your own risk :-) We are both artists, and our studio's are close to the cottage, which might make some noise, but we'll try to keep it at a minimum when guests are here. The upside is, you could learn something if interested :-) (contact us for workshops) We have a working hobby farm- with some machinery, animals (pigs, dogs, horses, ducks and chickens). You can interact with the animals if you talk to us about safety first, but the horse paddock is out of bounds. ( they can behave unpredictable, are very large (!) and very valuable) Our dogs are very friendly and will most probably visit you. Our puppy still has lots to learn :-) Our property is stock- fenced, our animals will stay in, but dogs are able to roam if they are not staying with you. There is no secure yard to leave your dog during the day, you are expected to be in control of your dogs at all times. If they are ok with horses, chooks and dogs, and under voice command, they can be off leash. Dogs are not to sleep on the beds. We are a rural property with animals, and there are dams on the property, (not close to the cottage) so please keep an eye on children - we cannot take responsibility for your persons or animals. Living on a farm means that not everything is neat, safe, flat or person-proof. Often there is actual work being done involving machinery. Coming here is entirely at your own risk. (sorry for all the disclaimers...) But- of course- if there is anything we can do to make your visit more pleasurable, we will do our best to do so!
