Weekend Trip to Galea Ranch

Wayne & Sharelle were incredibly welcoming and made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. Their property is beautifully maintained with plenty of open space, peaceful surroundings, and a true connection to nature. The site was easy to find, well-signposted, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Can't recommend enough. Kate is an extremely welcoming and responsive host. Awesome spot, a lot of love has gone into the property and it shows. Place has plenty of character. Tank water, firepit and porta loo made it a very comfortable stay. Hanging out with the animals was a highlight. All have funny personalities especially my new best mate Ezekiel. Would go back in a heartbeat

I love camping the fern glade, is a fantastic place to stay, enjoy the sound of the river and birds, also, you can spot Deers, Wombats and, echidna 🦔. Michael is an amazing person! Hoping to go back soon.

3 nights at Shiprock Farm

It was great! We had such a great time camping at Shiprock. The facilities make the stay so easy. The shower felt like luxury! And the kitchen and undercover area made it much more enjoyable as it rained for a couple of hours on one of the nights we were there. We’ll be back!

Very accommodating and overall great location! Feeding the cows was very cool and the toilets were the best I’ve ever come across whilst camping.

2 nights at Galea Ranch

Sharelle and Wayne were warm and welcomed us when we arrived. They led us to our camp site which had privacy and plenty of space. We were first time campers and they explained the on site amenities really well. Toilet was really clean and the playground entertained the little one for a long while. The weather wasn't so kind to us on the first night so we left the next day. We would definitely visit again

Awesome spot, so great with the kids and the camp shelter is awesome. So nice waking up to Russell the rooster and feeding the animals with Kate and Darren. Who doesn't want to kick off a goat toe scratch from their bucket list?! 😂 Toilet perfect, always clean, camp shelter excellent, even balls and books for the kids. Amazing! Thanks Darren and Kate! 😍

Wonderful place perfect for us as dog could run free as fully fenced kids loved it didn’t want to leave 😁 Michael is a great host and has a fantastic place , fire pit with grill and Bbq if needed 👍👍👍 and a working toilet if required . We will be back 👍👍👍👍👍

Wayne and Sharelle have built such a beautiful place to stay and they are so welcoming. The view of Cathedral ranges from the site is incredible. I loved watching the sunset on the ridge. All the animals at the property are just gorgeous too. I will be back with my 3year old!

We loved our stay at Craig’s flat. The river nearby was very tranquil and the location was very quiet. The toilet facilities were perfect. The host Michael was very accomodating. Would highly recommend for groups

2 nights at Galea Ranch

This is my second stay at Galea Ranch, and I feel just as welcomed as I did the first time. Wayne and Sharelle are truly exceptional hosts, warm, attentive, and always going the extra mile. I especially love the way they set up the fire pit at each camp site. The animals are another highlight, so friendly and adorable and you can even feed them apples. The location is also fantastic, with plenty of nearby activities to enjoy.

Galea Ranch is the perfect family and dog friendly location, close to the local sights. My kids loved feeding Steele, Lottie and Peaches and just chilling on the hammocks. And of course, you can’t go wrong with s’mores over the fire on a cooler night! The outdoor shower was the perfect touch - it was like an oasis amongst the ferns! Thank you Sharelle for your hospitality and opening your home to us.

We loved camping at fern glade site 2, lovely shady spot by the creek. Very relaxing, kids had a great time splashing in the creek. Really appreciated the bbq facilities and short walk to the toilet.

Craig’s flat Site 3 Thank you Michael. You have a great Hipcamp. We had a perfect Easter weekend. Great weather. Stayed at Site 3 which is the closest to the toilet. We had a pet dog with us on a lead. Very spacious and private site. Brilliant night sky. River / creek was great to have a dip. Fire pit was very versatile as we were able to put our camp fire plate over the provided round fire pit. There was a bbq, but I assume would need a gas bottle. We didn’t need to use it. We were an off road hybrid van and a couple of tents. Site 3 was a sunny spot for solar. There was a lookout on the property overlooking the surrounding area. Owner very easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend and would visit again.

A beautiful camp ground that we all loved, the kids fed the highland cows and Shetland pony multiple times a day, the hammocks and fairy lights were a lovely touch and Sharelle was so friendly and helpful, we felt completely at home and so welcome, we will definitely be back

Lovely campsite and Kate and fam are great hosts. Super close to great walks and of course the Noojee Hotel. One for the animal lovers and very clean facilities.

Great stay with two young kids. Kate and Darren are super generous with their time and property - taking the time to show us and the kids all the animals. Kids loved feeding the alpacas, goat and horses. Meanwhile we got to camp right next to sheep, chickens and ducks. Toilet was super clean and owners had fire wood for purchase (super useful when you run out!). Highly recommend this spot for any type of camper but particularly for those seeker a quieter option. Toilet was super clean and while we didn’t need the camp kitchen it’s absolutely an amazing addition for those without caravans (fridge, toaster, kettle, tea, coffee and a fridge!).

The Fern Glade

Nestled right beside the Murrundini River, all 3 campsites are beside the river, and well spaced apart for privacy and peace. Campsite 2 (site two) is shady, surrounded by tall swamp gums, black wood wattles and tree ferns. This spot is at its best from late spring through to autumn . Site One is a large flat area beside the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far. Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space. All sites have fire places and gas BBQ's (byo gas bottle) And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck. The original home stead (built in 1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are delightful in autumn. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them. Amazing, abundant and rare bird life to enjoy and photograph. (see guests photos). With no light pollution this is the ideal spot for star gazing.

It's perfect to escape from the city rush and to get in touch with nature. You also have the beautiful Cathedral Mountain you can sit and watch the sunset on the rocks or The Acheron River to fish the fresh Rainbow trout or brown trout. And off season try your luck on the Redfin. You won't be disappointed. For the Hipcampers we do provide outside toilet, and the outdoor shower soon to be finished. Magic Mountain

Nestled amongst the mountains just outside of the township of Whittlesea our 40-acre property sits above the clouds. This experience comes with sweeping views, a hidden waterfall, a clear campground, and plenty of wildlife. The camping area is accessible by 4WD only, otherwise, strap on a backpack and earn it! (800m walk/hike from where a non-4WD can park). The waterfall is reached by a single trail track from the campsite, and you do need to be an experienced hiker to get to the waterfall. Which is part of the appeal! We welcome self-contained campers, who bring their own toilet and take all waste with them. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy. Or choose to stay in our beautiful A-frame cabin, with plush bedding, cozy fire, and outdoor lounge. More than anything else this is a place to relax and be away from normal, live outside yourself, and rediscover what weekends are for. Dogs are welcome, so long as they don't bother the wildlife. Campfires are allowed, BYO firewood or campers can collect fallen timber from the property.
