Granite Springs is a working farm running various farm animals and working horses. You are welcome to walk the property and visit the farm animals during your stay(as long as you stay on the outside of paddocks/yards) There are dams and a seasonal creek running through the property, providing many options for campsites and also fishing(catch and release) (Please note creek is seasonal and not suitable for swimming). Dogs permitted but must be well behaved and not chase livestock. Campfires permitted in designated areas when restrictions aren't in place. Drinking water available. We are now processing our own meat so if you are wanting some farm grown produce for your stay or something to take home then please let us know and we will let you know what we have available. Our property is a 5 minute drive out of the township of Castlemaine. It is a total of 60 acres with minimal fencing. About 20 acres are cleared paddock and the rest is native box forest. Enjoy picturesque views across the open paddock to the dam, watch the kangaroos, or sit back and relax in the forest. On-site enjoy camping and strolling around the property, or nearby explore the historic towns of Maldon, Newstead or Castlemaine. Camp fires allowed in designated fire places. Dogs are allowed on lead. Must be self contained.

A lovely property with camp sites tucked away on classic goldfields country replete with delightful frog and bird calls. We didn't meet Kate but communication was great, meaning arrival was flexible. A short drive or ride to Castlemaine.

1 night at Misty Mornings

We loved the privacy and view of the surrounding paddocks no need to pull the blinds down. It was perfect for our motorhome with no need to put the levelling equipment down. We didn’t light a fire but there were fire pits ready to go should you wish to have one. Ally was the perfect host greeting us at the gate and guiding us to the best location for our camp.

We loved our stay at Granite Springs. From the campsite to the communication - everything was perfect. The site itself was green, protected and very flat for our tents. Granite Springs is a great Hip Camp. We were in Campsite 5. It was amongst the trees and very peaceful. The views were fantastic. We had a hybrid caravan and two camper trailers. The track in was accommodating for all RVs.

We had a lovely stay at this site...a last minute decision had us looking for somewhere near Castlemaine and this was just perfect. Kat responded to our request almost immediately so we had a confirmed place to stay and meet with family from Melbourne. The girls went off for a sneaky 9 holes at the very friendly golf club so everyone was happy. Really great site, thanks for having us!

What an awesome camp spot it was on No.2. The site was cleared with ample room for our 20ft van, there was a fire pit to stoke up & warm ourselves & not only were we surrounded by bush, we also had a great view down a grassy paddock watching a multitude of kangaroos grazing. There were even clear tracks to walk around the perimeter of the property. We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful place to stay. It feels like you are way out in the bush, the stars are amazing and sitting watching the fire was just bliss. Lovely flat cleared area with firepit. So close to all that Castlemaine has to offer. I will absolutely be coming back here as soon as I can.

5 nights at Muckleford Bush Block

We loved our stay at Middle Forest. We spent 5 nights here and it was the perfect place to use as a base for exploring around the Muckleford, Maldon and Castlemaine region. The camp site is well shaded which would be a bonus in hotter weather, but allowed enough sun in to fully recharge our batteries. The adjacent camp site is visible but we didn't hear anything from our neighbours and they moved on halfway through our stay anyway leaving the whole place to ourselves. There is lots of bird life and animal life with kangaroos hopping through the campsite and magpies, kookaburras and choughs regularly poking around. We hope to come back again.
