Cleared slashed areas beside the river. Enjoy a river swim to cool you down during summer and go for a cold dip during winter. River is also good for fishing during the right season. Access to river is 100 metres on graded walking track. Unless you have a ‘booster ’there is very limited mobile coverage or internet. {enjoy the peace and solitude} Access to the property is fourteen kilometres gravel, coming off the highway. Sites are private separated from each other, some sites suit clothing optional guests Site is 300 metres from road and provides privacy. Tents and small caravans are ideal. Not suitable for highway caravans or very large vans as the access will be too rough. There are walking areas at rear of property. Be aware tropical North Queensland has paralysis ticks and we have snakes at times and visiting pigs. Water can be supplied upon request. Power generators are permitted . There may be minimal mobile service with Telstra. Campfire will only be permitted within fire pit. All campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace behind. The Waterfall was a lovely walk but be parpared to walk 45 mins one way and not to get lost. They have a few arrows to guide you but towards the last bit down to the water no arrow and we got a bit lost.

Baron river retreat isn’t just a beautiful place for camping for a few nights, it’s a special place that soothes the soul and refreshes and recharges you. From the moment you arrive and drive down through the farm, giving a cheeky wave to the cows you can feel your troubles melt away. The camp site itself has so much space and options for all tastes from lush grass in full sun to shady spots under the trees, all of which are flat and easy to set up on. Where ever you choose to make home for the time you are here you will be able to hear the gentle sounds of water bubbling over the rapids while you’re serenaded by the kookaburras. There’s a wonderful flat area next to the river which is perfect to have your morning coffee and if you’re lucky you might spot the resident platypus. Go for a refreshing swim, a paddle up the river or brave one of the rapid pools for a refreshing massage. And to top it all off you can finish the day with a hot shower courtesy of the donkey hot water system followed by toasting marshmallows around the fire pit while looking for fireflies. The green loo is a bonus for those who don’t do “bushy bushy” You will not regret a stay at Baron River retreat and the hardest thing is leaving at the end of the stay.

A beautifully maintained property with loads of tropical fruit trees and bird life. The camp sites are well spread out so you can have your own space. The creek is private and great for swimming, with lots of different swimming spots. The waterfall hike is a well maintained easy going track through the untouched tropical rainforest. Loved this little property! We changed spots after chatting to Margie on arrival as she said there was a spot we might see a croc! It was a lovely spot, with beautiful views around. Margie was very accommodating and helpful! Great spot to then Hike Walsh's Pyramid and check out Behana Creek. Would stay again
