With 44 acres of bush property, interspersed with clearings, we've got plenty of space, from couples looking for a quite bush getaway to large groups enjoying their annual retreat! If we have multiple bookings at the one time, you are still guaranteed privacy.
We don't have any facilities, so campers need to be self-contained with their own toilet, however, we can arrange hire toilets for groups. We've hosted many group events here in the past, from bush weddings to annual club gatherings.
As well as the camping space, we offer camp oven catering near our Big Top shelter, mastered by Australian champion cooks. Nothing more Aussie than tender meat and veg cooked in the coals, surrounded by eucalypts!
The property is all-weather access, with plenty of turning spaces for big rigs. When you arrive, you can choose your campsite, or we can advise the best spots for you. Set up camp along the creek and dam, find a clearing in the bush, or you can cross the seasonal creek and park/pitch in a large, open grassed area.
While the creek is only running when we've had rain, the dam has water all year round, and on a hot day, you can go for a dip or a kayak, and maybe even catch some red claw!
Pets are welcome, from dogs to horses. We allow campfires, and can provide additional firewood for a charge - see extras.

I have access to the rail trail via private property, or otherwise you can utilise Staines Road to get into Benarkin State Forestry or the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.
Dogs are also welcome who are well behaved and on a leash if others have horses with them. Please note that you MUST ensure your dog has tick prevention prior to arrival. Bookings require pre approval please. This is non negotiable to prepare for your stay.

The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve.
We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking.
Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome.
The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping.
The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property.
The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic
Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day.
There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Above, birds of prey ride the thermals of the valley looking for their next meal.

Our venue and campgrounds are situated at the old Jimna State School property. The school closed in 2009 with the last students attending in 2006. It was then sold by the Qld government and has been rezoned as a Camping, Recreation and Events Venue. We have retained all the old school facilities for our campers to enjoy. There is a children’s playground and multi-purpose tennis court for everyone to enjoy. We provide tennis rackets, balls and basketballs free of charge to our campers. There is also no charge or fee to use the court. On most Sundays afternoons (weather permitting), we have social tennis where everyone is welcome to join in.
The old school toilet blocks have the addition of hot showers and all toilet facilities are the flushing type.
Campfires are permitted and there are small mobile fire pits provided so wherever you set up camp you can have your campfire right beside you.

Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered.
Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay.
Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices.
Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s.
Large groups are welcome.
There are many great shaded camping spots along the creek or a large open area of about 50 acres for larger groups. There is also a year round swimming hole fed by a solar bore on the property for anyone wanting to cool down.

Bottle Tree Farm is 10 acres situated on top of a slightly sloping hill which overlooks the surrounding hills, farming crops and Boat Mountain. We have a very old big bottle tree in the middle of our farm, which is one of the biggest in QLD. The sunsets are absolutely amazing here, so golden. The rural roads are lovely for an early or late evening walk on. We rent out a fully contained studio as well which is seperate and inside the farm fencing only for booked guests. Pets welcome for a small fee.
You will be sharing the paddock with three beautiful friendly horses, roaming at their own pace. In the paddock there is also a little renovated shed turned into a cute outhouse called the Heart Shed. Which is just being finished, soon to be able to be booked.
The farm is within a 7 min drive of two IGAs. Plus very close to all the wineries (10 km approx) and it’s delicious food! It’s also the same distance to nearby Bjelke Peterson Dam for water skiing and water sports. Wondai has some gorgeous shops including a wellness shop with a magnesium float tank, antique shops, and the likes. There is a dairy museum in Murgon. A dinosaur and fossil museum called 55 Million Year Old Museum in Murgon too. Also a visit to the Ration Shed Museum in the Indigenous and alcohol free community of Cherbourg is very educational and really worth a visit and only 10 mins away. It has beautiful indigenous pottery and art too. Boat Mountain is nearby and has spectacular views and is a beautiful walk with lots of Koalas.
The area I believe, is a hidden secret and has a sacred feel. Come and experience it for yourself.

Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered.
Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay.
Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices.
Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s.
Large groups are welcome.
There are many great shaded camping spots along the creek or a large open area of about 50 acres for larger groups. There is also a year round swimming hole fed by a solar bore on the property for anyone wanting to cool down.
Kids under 12 are free but if fossicking must be covered by a permit. Pets are welcome.

We have a whole beautiful valley with crystal clear spring-fed creeks, patches of rain forest and hillsides covered in grass-trees backing onto Wrattens State Forest. There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here.
This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. There is paralysis tick in this region - so we'd recommend treating any animal before you come and frequent checks while you're here.
No mobile phone coverage at the cabin, but there is a hill you can drive (or walk) up on the property to get phone signal if needed and we have a landline phone in our house which can be used in emergencies.

Bottle Tree Farm is 10 acres situated on top of a slightly sloping hill which overlooks the surrounding hills, farming crops and Boat Mountain. We have a very old big bottle tree in the middle of our farm, which is one of the biggest in QLD. The sunsets are absolutely amazing here, so golden. The rural roads are lovely for an early or late evening walk on. We rent out a fully contained studio as well which is seperate and inside the farm fencing only for booked guests. Pets welcome for a small fee.
You will be sharing the paddock with three beautiful friendly horses, roaming at their own pace. In the paddock there is also a little renovated shed turned into a cute outhouse called the Heart Shed. Which is just being finished, soon to be able to be booked.
The farm is within a 7 min drive of two IGAs. Plus very close to all the wineries (10 km approx) and it’s delicious food! It’s also the same distance to nearby Bjelke Peterson Dam for water skiing and water sports. Wondai has some gorgeous shops including a wellness shop with a magnesium float tank, antique shops, and the likes. There is a dairy museum in Murgon. A dinosaur and fossil museum called 55 Million Year Old Museum in Murgon too. Also a visit to the Ration Shed Museum in the Indigenous and alcohol free community of Cherbourg is very educational and really worth a visit and only 10 mins away. It has beautiful indigenous pottery and art too. Boat Mountain is nearby and has spectacular views and is a beautiful walk with lots of Koalas.
The area I believe, is a hidden secret and has a sacred feel. Come and experience it for yourself.

This 10 acre property is located on the banks of Taromeo Creek, a quiet and peaceful camping location with great birdwatching. Taromeo Creek is a seasonal creek and is sometimes dry and sometimes flowing. When the water is flowing there are a number of water holes along the creek.
Close to the local town of Blackbutt and only one and a half hours drive north west of Brisbane. Also close to the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail which offers 162kms of recreational trail for you to hike, bike or horse ride; with a local golf course nearby.
Mount Binga National Park is close by which has areas to ride and hike.
The annual Avocado festival which runs on the second weekend in September is always a popular time to visit.

Our property is located an hour from Toowoomba, 15min Dalby, 5min Kaimkillenbun (The Bun), has stunning views to the Bunya Mountains from all campsites.
All Sites have views of the Bunya Mountains. Easy access sites, for short/long stays. We also have a campsite near the dam, which is full after good rains. The other sites are in elevated positions, that look down the valley towards the Bunya Mountains.
The town of Kaimkillenbun (6 km) is known by locals as 'The Bun' easy driving distance to the "Bun Pub" which was built in 1912 and is a great spot to visit for a drink/meal if you are coming to the area.
We are 30 minutes' drive, from the Bunya Mountains National Park which has a variety of different hiking/cycling trails which include lookouts and waterfalls.
Campfires are allowed, permitting there are no restrictions in place. Pets are to be retrained at all times, due to livestock on the property. Campers must be self sufficient, bring their own toilet and take all waste with them on departure.

Jason's place was spectacular. It has the beauty of the surrounding area one would expect off grid (small mountain, bush, creek and lots of spaces. It would have been perfect had water is flowing on the creek. Jason did advice us prior, so issue to us

We absolutely love Windmill Hollow. We have been countless times and will continue to come back. Jason is an amazing host and he keeps the sites in pristine condition. Beautiful luscious grass that is always nicely mown. Sites are really private and massive. This is a hipcamp well worth checking out.

Each camp stop seems to have it's own bio-toilet, which is also super awesome for some fussy campers :) In regards to gold, we tried, but didn't find anything unfortunately. It was still fun!

We stayed at the Big Fig site at Hopevale for 4 nights and had a really nice, peaceful stay. Jason is a great host, friendly and easy to deal with and the site itself felt private and quiet which we really appreciated. There was heaps of wildlife around too, lots of wallabies, cows wandering past, plenty of birds and we even spotted a snake on our last night which made things interesting. It was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t swim in the dam but we chose to do the hike out to the hidden cave instead and honestly that ended up being more fun and a great little adventure. Overall it’s a lovely spot if you’re after some time in nature and a quiet place to switch off. We really enjoyed our stay.

Amazing place, water was nice and cold to swim in. We got to feed the cows and explore the forest. Found a butterfly field. The host was kind and friendly, he gave us plenty of wood for the fire. Didn't end up finding gold but found a lot of different gems ! We had a blast and definitely will be coming back thank you so much for the experience!

hike to the cave was a fair bit harder than expected and reception took a further drive out than we had assumed, other than that the campsite was absolutely beautiful and well maintained, extremely peaceful setting with lots of fun to be had and wonderful sights to see. shame the swimming hole was out of season, but the next one in town was close-by enough and so much fun it wasn’t at all an issue!

Host called morning of arrival to give detailed road directions.
The dogs enjoyed exploring creeks bed (unfortunately no water this time) However there is a permanent pond with spring fed water for swimming.
Quite a number of areas of interest in the area to explore.

Lovely campsite, with lovely owners. We stayed on the Mountain View site which was peaceful with amazing views. We completed the hidden cave hike, which was a fun scramble, followed by a lovely swim in the watering hole. Highly recommend this camp for people looking for a chilled place with activities.

Love the space the oval provides as more campers joined us it still didnt feel crowded. Toilets/bathroom were very neatly kept and always stocked. Cooking and wash up area provided everything you need in case you forgot your own. All in all an amazing place to camp will definitely be back at some point

We could hear a few cars and the campers at the other site occassionally but only because the area was so quiet. Mark was very helpful and communicated well.

It was a great spot, wonderful running creek to chill in over the Australia Day long weekend. There was a fair amount of algae in the creek, but once the kids started wading around it cleared. Lynn took care of us really well and her and Shelley checked on us after a huge storm whipped through the area. Nice flat sites with fire places. Firewood available from hosts and conveniently delivered each morning. Woke up to incredible birdsong each morning and despite there being other campers, the sites are well spaced and private.

Hopevale was a beautiful place to stay. Though it was a very hot weekend, there were lots of lovely shady spots and lovely scenery. We had our dog this time and he loved seeing all the cows nearby. The ammenities were the the creek was dry due to drought, their swimming dam set up great!
Would camp here again.

Was a lovely campsite, great hosts. Very well kept - flat and grass cut. Some nice shady spots. Basically no mozzies/midges which was amazing! Might have been because the creek was dry. The toilet/shower aren't fancy but are clean and neat. If you are filling up a water container, bring a tube or something as the potable water is only from a sink.
