Nestled on the banks of the Dumaresq River on the QLD/NSW border in Southern Queensland, between Yelarbon, Inglewood and Texas. 'Bushland Hideaway' is a rural property with approx. 1 km of river frontage and is the perfect spot for small or large groups of families to relax, unwind and get away from it all in natures own environment.
We offer clear blue skies during the day and starry skies at night, peaceful large grassy campsites beside the Dumaresq River surrounded by magnificent gum and oak trees shared with native wildlife. All our campsites are readily accessible for all types of vehicles, caravans or RVs.
We welcome quiet, respectful, nature-loving campers who enjoy all that Bushland Hideaway offers including fishing, swimming, canoeing, walking and bicycle tracks, photography etc.
Public waste bins are available at the entrance from the main road, Campfires permitted in designated fire pit areas when the season permits - please check. Firewood is available for sale or BYO.
Clean Porta Loo's or bush toilet's available at each site. Nearest dump point at Yelarbon -23 klm away.

There are great areas to hike, explore, and birdwatch. There is no light pollution so you see the amazing display of stars at night.

If no piggers, the whole 2500 acres is yours to explore.
If it rains, or you arrive too late to set up, we have a spare bed room with a double bunk sleeps 2 adjoining the shed near house $30.

We recommend 4WDs to access the property. The property features open, flat grassy areas peppered with trees. Some of the land is level and some is gently sloped and more suitable for tent camping.

Our property spans 350 acres of picturesque grazing land, complemented by beautiful natural bushland. You'll find several dams on the property, with one specifically perfect for swimming during the summer months. It even features a thrilling rope swing! Two of the dams are stocked with native fish such as golden, silver, and spangled perch, providing excellent catch-and-release fishing opportunities. Keep an eye out for impressive fish measuring up to 500mm!
During the winter season, the campsite becomes an ideal destination, offering ample firewood for cozy campfires. Please remember to pack warm as temperatures can drop below freezing. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the variety of parrot species that inhabit the area, making it a paradise for birdwatching. Our friendly goats and cattle roam the property freely, so don't be surprised if they pay your campsite a curious visit.

Campers will enjoy camping with access to a firepit, wildlife watching - including cockatoos, kangaroos, wild ducks and lots of peacocks (one is white!). There are walking tracks.We have a variety of extras available for you to add to your booking at checkout, including woodfire pizza, wine and cheese platter, night sky telescope tour and a movie on an outdoor movie screen. A short distance to national park and state forest. Small, under control dogs welcome. Sorry no big dogs due to wild life. There are no facilities here, campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace.

Stayed at Carbeen Camping and Farmstay over the New Year. It is a relaxing location, flat and well looked after. Host are lovely people, checked in with us every day to ensure everything was ok. They even supplied free fire wood. Shame the dam was a little too weedy for a swim. Lots of kangaroos of an evening coming to the dam for a drink. Even had the odd huge goanna wonder thru campsite a few times. Will be back.

We stayed at this beautiful property for the night on our trip from QLD to NSW, the river swim was perfect for us and our dogs on the hot day we had. We watched the wild life come and drink from the river over sunset which was really lovely. Lionel is very friendly and looked after us on arrival. Would highly recommend.

My husband and son had THE best time here. We are looking to book for Easter and bring friends.
The owners were lovely and had advice about the local area and great spots to visit. The campsite was so well kept, close to the river with a nice toilet and easy access to the weir nearby. Such a picturesque spot.
We will definitely be back together and have already been showing our friends and starting to plan the next trip.

This spot (all the camping areas) offer a serene, safe, tranquil environment. Even caught fish! Had the dogs with us and they just loved it. The water was perfect. Taking the grandchildren next trip. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful area with stunning views. The hosts are very accommodating and keep the area really clean and tidy. Plenty of wildlife around and hills to explore. The area we camped was so nice and secluded it felt like we were on our own private property. Incredible place and experience cannot wait to get back to Valley Heights!

Loved that we were the only ones here. What a beautiful well maintained area. We enjoyed choosing one of a number of fire pits to set up our camp ovens. There was a port a loo available for use (which we did not use). We “wallowed” in the little rapids of the McIntyre Brooke to cool down and enjoyed watching the stars and satellites during the evening. What a perfect getaway. We laughed at the way the goats “frolicked “ on the rocks across the creek and enjoyed watching the Roos jumping past. Overall, wow , what a great place. ❣️

Really enjoyed our 3 day stay. Vast space, pretty scenary and solitude. Whist being isolated, the camp sites are well maintained with lots of options. Just be aware its a 17km drive in on a dirt road which is in reasonable condition. Also zero connectivity (which was a great thing!!) if this presents an issue for others.

Beautiful place to stay, love the free roaming goats, wallabies, cows, sheep and emus.
The river is full of tabbies and little shrimp and fish and lots of safe areas to let your kids go fishing. Water is deep enough to swim in, we even managed to get our kayaks in the water tho got stuck on rock in a few places.

We absolutely loved our time at Yarran! The most beautiful countryside with the kindest host. Option for showers and loo. We had a beautiful camp fire and watched a storm roll in alongside the kangaroos, emus and sheep. It was quiet and with such a big property it was also private. We can’t wait to come back here!
