Welcome to our not-for-profit grounds, now open to the public. The camp has been set up as a youth-oriented facility that welcomes travellers and regional people. All proceeds go towards running costs and improving facilities. We have an onsite caretaker (LES) for maintaining the property. Dog friendly (must be controlled at all times!) and good access for caravans and all types of vehicles.A large flat grassed area for camping and 200m walk to The Boyne River at Pikes Crossing with access for swimming. There is an area to launch small boats and ideal for canoeing and kayaking in protected waters. Close to Lake Awoonga (4km drive) for fishing and all other aquatic activities along with a great barramundi stocked impoundment.There is a large undercover area with tables and chairs, flushing toilets and hot showers and designated campfire area. A real gem! Quiet and clean, and the facilities and price can’t be beat! The birds and wildlife up there were incredible! It also got nice and cool in the evening, which was a huge relief after sleeping near Cairns for a couple weeks. A little tip- there *is* plenty of space…. But if you want flat and shady ground (near the back or side), and don’t want to cram in next to someone—come early. If that’s not possible though, and you can stay another night, set up bare bones the first nightand wait until the next morning. A ton of people left pretty early and I could move to a prime location if I wanted. Les was also great. Very helpful and friendly.

We had a premium site with power nestled in the trees. You do need to establish where your plot is before as tracks are uneven. Filtered water available in camp kitchen. Showers good but don’t spend too long as water is a premium. Very quiet site.

Camp Kuna exceeded my expectations in every way. As a local, I'm always searching for quality camping spots, and this one definitely earned a place on my return list. The facilities were impressively well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The kitchen came equipped with all the essentials you'd need, which made meal prep a breeze. I particularly loved the fire pits – they were thoughtfully designed and added the perfect ambiance to our evenings. The campground offers plenty of shady spots, which is a huge plus for staying comfortable during the day. The location is ideal, with just a short, easy walk down to the river. It's close enough to be convenient but far enough to feel like you're truly escaping into nature. Even though I live nearby, I'd absolutely camp here again. It's the perfect balance of comfort and outdoor experience. Highly recommended for both locals looking for a quick getaway and travelers passing through the area.

Probably the most outstanding camp kitchen ever. Catered from pots, pans, gas burner stove, outside BBQ and even dish washing liquid!! Free washing machine and the amenities were spotless at all times. Les does an amazing job, and the locals are friendly. Would highly recommend...great nature chill spot. The Red Dog loved the river walk.

Great tucked away campsite in the trees , maybe a 4-5 minute drive into Agnes water, showers and amenities were nice , we stayed in a glamping tent for once and found it awesome not having to setup, had a little 12v setup in there with chargers for phones etc and a fan and lights.

Beautiful bush sites with ample space. Basic facilities but well run. Great quiet spot to explore Agnes Waters area and enjoy nature. Fire pits, nice camp kitchen/games area/cubby for kids. Grass Tree pool was the best! Especially at sunset

We loved staying here albeit just one night. The camp is a relaxed, beautifully organised, and neat space! We brought our motorhome here and were able to access a space that was quiet and private enough from others while being able to access amenities like showers and camp kitchen without too much trouble. Definitely recommend this place for its uniqueness and beauty!

We had a lovely stay at 1770 Eco Camp. The only thing I would fault is that the spaces are very tight to get into. There was a tree directly in front of site 9 which made for a very stressful time trying to get our 21ft caravan in and out of the site. A lot of low trees as well. Site 9 is very close to site 8. Other then that it was a a great stay.

I loved camping at Akuna camp. It was very peaceful. Toilets and showers were clean. Easy to find and lots of flat spots for camping. I was camped near the toilet block and kitchen for my convenience, it was a little noisy with people coming and going using the facility. It didn't bother me, but if you don't mind being further away, it would be quieter.
