Calliope, an old Queensland gold mining town, is an easy place to stop and enjoy the forests, historic homesteads, and native bush when travelling between Rockhampton and Bundaberg. Now essentially a dormitory town for coastal Gladstone, Calliope is a pleasant place to camp in its own right, with caravan parks in the town and beside the Calliope River. It also offers easy access to Lake Awoonga, formed by the damming of the Boyne River, where you can camp, swim, kayak, and fish the lake’s abundant stocks of various species. Nearby Gladstone is a gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, so is a more peaceful alternative to jumping-off points in North Queensland, such as Airlie Beach or Cairns. Every second Sunday at the 1770 rotary park we have a local market which is a great place to pick up fresh fruit and veg. Agnes water and 1770 has that small town feel and slowed-down pace with lots of friendly locals making it a great place to explore, take a deep breath and relax. We have over 100 different varieties of dragon fruit, with each one having different foliage characteristics and tastes, like watermelon, lime, coconut, lychee and more. Half of our 3.7 Acres is farm forestry that we are building a syntropic farm in. We are 5km from the beach, 4.5 km from the nearest supermarket and 13km from 1770 headland. 12km to the north we have Eurimbula National Park where you can explore middle creek and Eurimbula creek. 8km to the South we have Deep-Water National Park, where you can discover by 4wd some amazing uncrowded beaches. A real gem! Quiet and clean, and the facilities and price can’t be beat! The birds and wildlife up there were incredible! It also got nice and cool in the evening, which was a huge relief after sleeping near Cairns for a couple weeks. A little tip- there *is* plenty of space…. But if you want flat and shady ground (near the back or side), and don’t want to cram in next to someone—come early. If that’s not possible though, and you can stay another night, set up bare bones the first nightand wait until the next morning. A ton of people left pretty early and I could move to a prime location if I wanted. Les was also great. Very helpful and friendly.

What a cracker of a spot, very secluded and quiet. Tight to get in but worth it. Even get about 5 hours of sunlight as this was just right to charge batteries. Lots of firewood to easily pick up around the site. Camp is about halfway between Noosa and Eumundi so really easy to get to both. Perfect spot!!!!

Camp Kuna exceeded my expectations in every way. As a local, I'm always searching for quality camping spots, and this one definitely earned a place on my return list. The facilities were impressively well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The kitchen came equipped with all the essentials you'd need, which made meal prep a breeze. I particularly loved the fire pits – they were thoughtfully designed and added the perfect ambiance to our evenings. The campground offers plenty of shady spots, which is a huge plus for staying comfortable during the day. The location is ideal, with just a short, easy walk down to the river. It's close enough to be convenient but far enough to feel like you're truly escaping into nature. Even though I live nearby, I'd absolutely camp here again. It's the perfect balance of comfort and outdoor experience. Highly recommended for both locals looking for a quick getaway and travelers passing through the area.

Free washing machine and the amenities were spotless at all times. Les does an amazing job, and the locals are friendly. Would highly recommend...great nature chill spot. The Red Dog loved the river walk.

Great location with a short drive to Agnes Water and 1770. There’s only 2 sites and we were the only people there so it was super private. You can’t see the camping spots from the road. If both spots are booked, you might see each other, but there’s plenty of space between the sites. This would be a great spot for a small group. The fire pit in site 1 would be great on a cool night, and I imagine it would light up the trees beautifully. There’s a small amount of road noise, but it was barely noticeable. On arrival, don’t misinterpret the directions to site 2 like we did. You can see site 1 from the drive way. You need to turn right towards site 1 to go past it to site 2 (rather than passing it and staying on the driveway).

Myself and my partner stayed 2 nights for a weekend getaway and were beyond happy with the stay. Mike and his family were extremely welcoming and there were more secluded spots available for privacy. It was a quick drive into town and the area was quiet and peaceful with plenty of lovely wide-life. The toilets and showers were a massive bonus and clean and tidy at all times. Although we didn’t use them the hot plates, microwave and kettle could be very helpful. We will definitely be back Thankyou Mike, Michi and family 😁

We are PET FRIENDLY, and dogs must remain on leads or runs whilst on the property. Please note that animals are not permitted in any of the undercover common areas or swimming pool enclosure. We are a short 2 minute drive to the new Agnes Central shopping center, 5 minutes to Agnes Water town centre and local beaches, and a 15 minute drive to the beautiful town of 1770. If you are looking to escape from the crowded caravan parks, you will love our piece of paradise.

From the Marina, you can depart to Lady Musgrave Island, enjoy 1 hr to full day tour on the iconic Larcs and enjoy  spectacular sunsets.The are some must-visit small businesses in the area including Rusty Pelican Fish and Chips, Pancake Creek Tours, Katrina's Bar (for sunset drinks) and Marina Cafe (for best coffee and vanilla slice).There are no facilities here, campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace. Council's dump point is just 5 minutes away.
