283 acres of mainly level bush with camping sites in various locations, either in a remote bush or by the water (dams). 6 kms of bushwalking tracks with abundant native wild and bird life. Designated fireplaces and firewood available. All campsites except the Safe Haven are physically separated and reserved for a single group (either travelling alone or in company with others). The Safe Haven can accommodate up to 4 caravans/campers with a communal central fireplace by the water. A seasonal summer stream normally runs through the length of the property from January to May. During this time access to some of the walking trails can be restricted. All sites can be left unattended and secure by visitors for day trips to surrounding areas such as Agnes Water, Seventeen Seventy, the Boyne Valley or various National Parks located within 50klms. This campsite is located at Captain Creek. 15kms from Agnes water 1770. on 40 acres with a seasonal creek. We have a lovely natural bush setting with privacy. Suited for off grid campers. You will see kangaroos and lots of bird life to watch. Our region is well known for surfing, however Agnes Water and 1770 are also home to calm inlets tailor-made for stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking. BYO paddleboard or explore the coastline and waterways by kayak. You can even paddle past Captain Cook’s landing point and on towards the headland to watch the sun set over the ocean (a rare sight on Australia’s East coast). Follow the trail or take your mountain bike along boardwalks and across stepping stones on the 1.5 hr, 3km Red Rock Trail. You can start your adventure at the end of Springs Beach and head south along rocky trails peppered with pandanus palms all the way to the far end of Red Rock Beach. This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. There is access to drinking water and a picnic table for meals. Plenty of space for bushwalking or sit back around camp fire or just read books. There are some great mountain views to be seen while walking around and site seeing, and Eurimbula National Park is close by. For boating and fishing enthusiasts, the beach is just a few mins drive away. We're located close to Agnes Water for all your shopping and supply needs. Pets welcome.

A real gem! Quiet and clean, and the facilities and price can’t be beat! The birds and wildlife up there were incredible! It also got nice and cool in the evening, which was a huge relief after sleeping near Cairns for a couple weeks. A little tip- there *is* plenty of space…. But if you want flat and shady ground (near the back or side), and don’t want to cram in next to someone—come early. If that’s not possible though, and you can stay another night, set up bare bones the first nightand wait until the next morning. A ton of people left pretty early and I could move to a prime location if I wanted. Les was also great. Very helpful and friendly.

Camp Kuna exceeded my expectations in every way. As a local, I'm always searching for quality camping spots, and this one definitely earned a place on my return list. The facilities were impressively well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The kitchen came equipped with all the essentials you'd need, which made meal prep a breeze. I particularly loved the fire pits – they were thoughtfully designed and added the perfect ambiance to our evenings. The campground offers plenty of shady spots, which is a huge plus for staying comfortable during the day. The location is ideal, with just a short, easy walk down to the river. It's close enough to be convenient but far enough to feel like you're truly escaping into nature. Even though I live nearby, I'd absolutely camp here again. It's the perfect balance of comfort and outdoor experience. Highly recommended for both locals looking for a quick getaway and travelers passing through the area.

Probably the most outstanding camp kitchen ever. Catered from pots, pans, gas burner stove, outside BBQ and even dish washing liquid!! Free washing machine and the amenities were spotless at all times. Les does an amazing job, and the locals are friendly. Would highly recommend...great nature chill spot. The Red Dog loved the river walk.

Weekend Trip to Travellers Rest 1770 Eco Camping

Myself and my partner stayed 2 nights for a weekend getaway and were beyond happy with the stay. Mike and his family were extremely welcoming and there were more secluded spots available for privacy. It was a quick drive into town and the area was quiet and peaceful with plenty of lovely wide-life. The toilets and showers were a massive bonus and clean and tidy at all times. Although we didn’t use them the hot plates, microwave and kettle could be very helpful. We will definitely be back Thankyou Mike, Michi and family 😁

Peaceful spot with secluded sites, a friendly host who introduced us to the gorgeous cows and the stars at night were amazing! Town is only 9 minutes away with a fantastic park for kids and good meals at the local pub (who also serve great coffee at the front cafe in the morning). A great stop over for us with two little kids!

We had a fabulous 5 nights at Travellers Rest 1770. Quiet, relaxing and plenty of room between camping spots. Amenities were very clean. Close to Agnus Waters to enjoy all the activities available. Definitely on our list of return Hipcamps.

I loved camping at Akuna camp. It was very peaceful. Toilets and showers were clean. Easy to find and lots of flat spots for camping. I was camped near the toilet block and kitchen for my convenience, it was a little noisy with people coming and going using the facility. It didn't bother me, but if you don't mind being further away, it would be quieter.
