The Mt Warning Hotel situated in Uki Village also offers all meals as takeaways and a complementary curtesy bus running from Friday 5PM through to Sunday. Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot! We offer a choice of sites- either Lower Sites close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property or Elevated Sites with views of the valley. LOWER SITES have access to facilities- toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Most sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. These are the only sites that caravans can access. ELEVATED SITES have stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites. When submitting a booking request, select either a Lower Site or Elevated Site. Please include your vehicle make and model, camping setup (tent/swag/camper trailer), type of toilet and ensuite tent (if requesting an elevated site) and number of occupants (adults, children, dogs). Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather dependant. You will see us pottering in the garden or walking our poodle, but we will leave you to your privacy. We are only 8 minutes from shops in town and a short drive for all of the Scenic Rim's attractions. We are in the heart of The Scenic Rim. The camping grounds is private and picturesque in our back paddocks - looking back over our olive grove and out to the great dividing range. We have fire pits set up in the camp area - please bring an extinguisher, wood and matches. The camp grounds has an easy access and campers have had no issues levelling out on the gentle slope or go higher up the paddock to the trees and the ground is level with the best views of the mountain ranges. Olive View Farm is ideal for self sufficient campers. At the front of the property near the bus shop we have permanent picnic tables set up for anyone to use. Dogs on a lead are welcome - we have lots of Kangaroos and Wallabies and we want to protect them. We are always on site and happy to help with anything you need. *Please note any negative feedback for camping received was from a festival that took place on our property in 2022 and the event organisers promised the campers facilities and did not deliver. Unfortunately Hipcamp won't remove these comments and we had no management of these customers. ALL other positive comments are through us direct.

Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot! We offer a choice of sites- either Lower Sites close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property or Elevated Sites with views of the valley. LOWER SITES have access to facilities- toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Most sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. These are the only sites that caravans can access. ELEVATED SITES have stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites. When submitting a booking request, select either a Lower Site or Elevated Site. Please include your vehicle make and model, camping setup (tent/swag/camper trailer), type of toilet and ensuite tent (if requesting an elevated site) and number of occupants (adults, children, dogs). Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather dependant. We have a beautiful vintage bus that we have converted into a farm shop and you can buy olives, relishes, honey, jam, seasonings, magnesium and more. We welcome small gatherings to celebrate birthdays, engagements or function (Christmas etc) just let us know during the booking process. We would appreciate quiet after 10pm. We are only 8 minutes from shops in town and a short drive for all of the Scenic Rim's attractions. We are in the heart of The Scenic Rim. The camping grounds is private and picturesque in our back paddocks - looking back over our olive grove and out to the great dividing range. We have fire pits set up in the camp area - please bring an extinguisher, wood and matches. The camp grounds has an easy access and campers have had no issues levelling out on the gentle slope or go higher up the paddock to the trees and the ground is level with the best views of the mountain ranges. Olive View Farm is ideal for self sufficient campers. At the front of the property near the bus shop we have permanent picnic tables set up for anyone to use. Dogs on a lead are welcome - we have lots of Kangaroos and Wallabies and we want to protect them. We are always on site and happy to help with anything you need. *Please note any negative feedback for camping received was from a festival that took place on our property in 2022 and the event organisers promised the campers facilities and did not deliver. Unfortunately Hipcamp won't remove these comments and we had no management of these customers. ALL other positive comments are through us direct.

WOW - what a fabulous location! Hosts were super friendly and helpful; sites were huge and immaculately maintained; creek was beautiful - dog and I didn't want to leave! I highly recommend and hope to return when next in that part of AUS! PS when booking, the reference to Left and Right site numbers was a little confusing, but it just means they are next to each other.

Caralyn’s directions to site were great. Site 1R, the whole area along the creek, was beautiful on levelish well maintained grass you could walk barefoot on. 1R had a mixture of shade and sun in the morning. Alongside site is a sterdy deck with table & chairs. There was direct access to creek for a wade/sit on a rock, refreshing on a hot day. A large industrial bin was available. It was a relaxing place to unwind and spot a variety of bird life. Certainly had a restful time and felt safe. Loved the fairy lights on the tree💜

During your stay you can just kick back and relax overlooking the farm which produces beef cattle and fingerlimes, but with the convenient distance to towns and beaches, you can also use it as a base to very easily explore all the region has to offer: Byron Bay and Bangalow (15 mins), Brunswick Heads (10 mins), and Mullumbimby (6 mins), all offering great dining, local market, and retail experiences. the area has a plethora of activities to pursue: swimming, walking, fishing, great surfing, sea kayaking, ballooning, skydiving, horseriding, golf (eg renowned Ocean Shores golf club is 20 minutes away), and the wonderful rail trail for bikers or walkers can be accessed at Mooball, a picturesque 20 min drive away or try out the new mountain bike trail at the vey pretty township of Uki in the hinterland. Our family farm is a working cattle property where you will see cows and calves and share the space while they graze on the rolling hills. Our picturesque farm is nestled at the end of a road surrounded by Mount Jerusalem and Nightcap National Park. Our farm offers a unique camping experience where visitors can escape the hustle and bustle and relax and immerse themselves in the tranquility. Our farm is a situated approximately an hour from the Gold Coast, 40 mins from Nimbin and Murwillumbah, an hour from Byron Bay and only 20 mins from the beautiful historical village of Uki. Our farm boasts rolling hills, lush green pastures, and serene creeks and dams. Whether you’re pitching a tent or parking your caravan, you’ll wake up to breathtaking views every morning. At night, have a campfire and see the sky come alive with stars. Grab a blanket, lie back, and marvel at the constellations. Our remote location ensures minimal light pollution, making it an ideal spot for stargazers. Firewood is available for sale, please feel free to ask.

Where to go

Gold Coast

Burleigh lies at the south end of the Gold Coast, where campers can take their pick of seafront holiday parks and tourist parks. Head to Miami Beach or Broadbeach to swim and surf, paddle around the canal ways of Surfer’s Paradise on a kayak, or cruise out to explore the islands. There’s fun to be had away from the water, too—the Gold Coast is home to five of Australia’s best theme parks.

Gold Coast Hinterlands

Escape to the hinterlands to hike through Heritage-listed rainforest and camp out in the wilderness. A short drive from Burleigh, Springbrook National Park is home to natural wonders, including the Numinbah Valley and the Natural Bridge, where you can spot glow worms after dark. Further afield, head to the Lamington National Park to hike to waterfalls and mountain lookouts, then pitch your tent at backcountry campsites.

North Coast of NSW

South of Burleigh Heads, stop at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary before crossing the border into New South Wales. A road trip along the Pacific Coast road is the best way to explore—make sure you include the surf towns of Tweed Heads and Byron Bay on your itinerary. There’s camping along the coast, as well as bush camping in the Nightcap National Park.  

When to go

The sun shines year-round along the Gold Coast, but it’s busiest in summer (December through January) and school holidays, so book campsites well in advance during these periods. Camping, outdoor activities, and beach days are possible right through winter and June through October is also whale-watching season along the coast. If you can, plan your visit for one of the Sunday markets, held most weekends throughout the year.  

Know before you go

  • The Gold Coast has an excellent public transport service, but having your own transport is useful for exploring the hinterlands and national parks.
  • Burleigh Heads has a large selection of shops where you can pick up camping gear and stock up on supplies before heading out into the hinterlands.
  • Fire bans are common in Queensland during summer and dry periods, so be sure to check local recommendations.
  • Camping permits are required to camp within Queensland’s national parks and must be reserved in advance.
