The 120 acre working beef and horse farm is situated a scenic 2 hour drive North from Sydney or 1 hour East from Newcastle. Whether you chose to stay of one of our campsites or in our pioneer-style cottage, all visitor being awoken to the natural bush sounds of lyre birds and cooling their heels in the crystal creek at the bottom of the property. On your way in or out, be sure to check out the boutique village of Wollombi which is just 10 minutes from Cranky Rock, where you'll enjoy wine tasting, fresh produce and quaint cafes. Other must-see's in the area include the Olney State Forest and the Wattagan National Park.The property is located just off a scenic drive, over a 2wd accessible creek crossing. It is peaceful and secluded. Campers can used shared kitchen and bathroom facilities located at the top of the camp area. Dogs are welcome, but as it's a working farm, we ask the remain on leash at all times.

Weekend Trip to Cranky Rock Hunter Valley

Cranky Rock was the perfect quick weekend get away. Far enough away from the city but close enough that you can duck back to Cessnock if needed. We snagged the ideal spot in camp with dappled shade throughout the day. Although the toilets are non flushing they are clean and accessible. Pam came to check on us when we arrived and other than that we were left to enjoy the peace and quiet.

We loved camping at Cranky Rock. The view was absolutely breathtaking. Plenty of space between us and other happy campers. The toilet facilities were the cleanest drop pits I've ever seen. We both needed a peaceful place to unwind and rejuvenate and this place is exactly that! We will return again. Thank you Pam and Lindsay

Myself and husband loved our stay here!! We spent a day wondering the town of Lithgow and the ruins and stayed an extra night to visit the glow worm caves! Super lucky to have had the campsite to ourselves for our time there but what a beautiful place 💛 zero issues at all and we met Sally’s father who was friendly and made us feel very welcome 🥰 thank you Sally! We had a lovely time camping at Katie’s property. Katie and her family were very accommodating and our kids loved playing together on the equipment and helping feed the horses in the morning. Had a wonderful stay and Lindsay and Pam’s property. So peaceful and Lindsay and Pam were lovely. We stayed on site 1. Perfect for our caravan and under a lovely big tree. The Cranky Rock campsite is a beautiful spot with great facilities. Lindsay and Pam are friendly and welcoming hosts - who even woke up early and graciously helped us get our van unstuck from the creek crossing. I couldn't recommend this site more highly.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The hosts were so lovely and helpful. Nothing was too much for them. We had the best few days here, so peaceful and spacious! The location was amazing, so close to Sydney and the blue mountains. Absolutely beautiful outlook, the property was so pretty! The grass campsite was great, no dirt was brought into the van. The kids had access to a playground, trampoline and cubby house. The hosts children were super friendly and took our girls around the property, they bathed a horse and went on the buggy around feeding the animals. I would 100% recommend this camp to anyone. It was absolutely beautiful, look no further, book in here!

Weekend Trip to Good Paddock

We went into our stay without high expectations which worked well for us. If you’re expecting well manicured landscapes and golden toilets pay a lot more and stay elsewhere. All we needed was a ‘Good Paddock’ to setup our camp,somewhere central to base ourselves where we needed to be and this spot was absolutely perfect for us,very spacious away from other campers. Being the long weekend when we stayed a bit of rowdyness was expected no matter where we were,I’ve read other reviews of this place I can see why some others would have certain reviews but we were quite happy to see people enjoying the property and to meet some of the family that lived there who were very polite and friendly we were also fortunate enough on our last night there everyone else had cleared out giving us the whole paddock to ourselves. We were also fortunate to be visited by the local wombat and mob of Roos. All in all we were very happy with our stay and would recommend to others on the basis to not expect a bowling green and toilet fit for kings. Thanks again Sally for having us,we look to return sometime in the future

I loved that the communal campsite is not crowded. You can camp anywhere. The campground is well maintained. Staffs are very friendly and accommodating. The check in process is very smooth, professional, and organised. They are very responsive to emails and other inquiries via hipcamp or direct email. This gave us so much peace of mind especially leading up to the day of the camp. They email so many important information about the camp rules, check in process, and the directions to the camp site. This will definitely be one of our favourite campsites. It’s not just a campground, it’s home away from home.

We spent 3 days and 2 nights at this private bush camp, and when they said private, they truly meant it. It was just us and the cows, no other campers in sight. You’re completely surrounded by nature. Peaceful, quiet, and beautifully secluded. Our pups get a bit anxious around strangers, so having the whole place to ourselves was such a huge plus. Each morning we woke up to the sounds of nature, and each night ended with a campfire under a sky full of stars. The site is clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described. If you’re looking to truly disconnect and unwind, this is the perfect spot. We really hope it stays as private and serene as it is now.

We loved camping at Chapman Valley. We had a great little spot. The location, off grid, serenity was all our group needed for a weekend away. Fantastic customer service from all the folks at the office. Such kind and approachable staff. Loved being close to nature and enjoyed the 4wd off road exploration to see the amazing natural beauty of the land. Horses were beautiful, great for kids and families and friends to share and make memories.
