I adjust each booking with each group depending on size of the group and time of year. I also hold large events so will book out the entire site for large groups. Just a short drive from Sydney but a world away with its ancient forests and meandering pathways. All photos are from the site or within a 2km walk of the camping site in National Park or reserve. Please note that the canyon photos are from a spot that is very difficult to get to. I welcome self-contained campers with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. However there are facilities on site for smaller groups at an extra cost. The property offers a number of sites that can accommodate various group numbers. Weekend Trip to The Freedom Farm River Paradise

It was perfect for our camping trip with young children. Gumtree grove was so peaceful, we loved the short walk to the river. The trampoline was a pleasant surprise and we were very grateful to have canoes to play on. Totally magical spot. Would love to go back.

We enjoyed the privacy and peacefulness of rice patch camp. The cleared area provided large space for the car, tent and star gazing. And well protected from the westerly wind We sat in the bush for shade during the day. The track to camp was rough in a few spots which slowed us down, allowing us time to appreciate the beautiful trees. It’s a great bush camp for campers who are able to be totally self reliant. Our host provided us with useful information and local tips. We are grateful for our host sharing their property.

Great camping spot, lots of shade and nice and peaceful. Although the river was dry and we couldn't paddle our feet in the water we still enjoyed our stay. No fires during warmer months but during winter this spot will be amazing. We will be back again come winter for sure. Lovely to meet owner Rikki 😊

A beautiful quiet retreat in the Mountains. Claudia was so helpful and genuinely welcoming. My dog and I enjoyed a massive steak and quiet reflection around the campfire. The view we awoke to in the morning was gorgeous.

Weekend Trip to Domaine De Binet

This was our second stay with the Binet family group, this time we stayed at camp site number one which was situated right next to the open air chapel and we also had our own picnic bench, fire pit, power and water connection. We were in close proximity to the amenities block which is immaculately presented and features separate toilets and one of the best rainfall shower heads you will ever experience! It was a dog friendly site and our fur babies absolutely loved it. Plenty of freshly manicured gardens and fields to explore and it was right next to the vines. There is a superb, newly opened cafe called Flock & Fork on the adjacent Tatler Wines property (about 2min walk from camp), Currently open Thursday to Sunday for breakfast and lunch - it’s very dog friendly and the food is absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS! Our stay was perfectly topped off with a wine tasting experience with the friendly and very knowledgeable staff at the Binet Cellar Door (on site about 1min walk from camp, also dog friendly). They have a generous range of high quality wines to sample and enjoy, the courtyard is picturesque and the wines will not disappoint! Huge thanks to owners Nat and Dan, their lovely family and fur babies for being so warm and welcoming! We cannot fault their hospitality or this location. FIVE STARS 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My girlfriend and I loved camping at Wildwoods! We stayed at the Ridge Top campsite which had a beautiful view of the valley with plenty of space for tents and campfires. The host Claudia was so lovely and helpful when we had issues come up, and it was a very well priced stay in my opinion! Definitely recommend staying at Wildwoods.

We camped at the base of sunset hill and it was so lovely, we had full use of the hill top to enjoy the view and the beautiful birds flying around. The fire pit for this site is on the hill to enjoy toasting marshmallows while you watch the sun set. We also had 2 peacocks come over close to our camp which was fun to see! :)

Where to go

Hunter Valley

The Macdonald River winds its way north from Wisemans Ferry all the way into the Hunter Valley wine region. Stop to visit the colonial town of St Albans—lunch at the riverside pub is a must—before exploring the wild landscapes of the Yengo National Park. There’s a wide range of bushland hikes, 4WD excursions, and mountain bike trails in the park, plus several camping grounds and picnic areas to choose from.

Blue Mountains

Southwest of Wiseman’s Ferry, the Blue Mountains National Park is the outdoor getaway of choice for day-trippers from Sydney. Ride the Scenic Railway or Cableway to admire dramatic gorges and waterfalls, spot kangaroos and koalas as you hike through lush eucalyptus forests, and see the famous Three Sisters rocks. Tourist parks provide camping near all the main attractions, while tranquil farm stays and bush campgrounds offer a back-to-nature experience.

Central Coast

If you tire of riverside activities, the beaches of NSW’s Central Coast are less than a 2-hour drive from Wiseman’s Ferry. Broken Bay is a water sports hotspot at the mouth of the Hawkesbury River, while popular destinations such as Avoca, Shelly, and Pelican lie just to the north. Enjoy swimming, surfing, and boat cruises along the coast, play a game at an oceanside golf course, then check into a beachside campsite.

When to go

Summer (December through February) is peak season in Wiseman’s Ferry, and it’s best to book campsites in advance if visiting at this time. Spring and autumn provide the ideal weather for bushwalking and camping in the national parks, and the natural landscapes are at their most colorful, scattered with spring wildflowers or fall foliage. The town falls quiet in winter, but most campsites remain open year-round, and rates are often lower.

Know before you go

There are buses to Wisemans Ferry from Sydney, but you will need your own transport to explore the surrounding national parks.

Wisemans ferry has a number of general stores but for specialist camping gear you might need to go to Sydney, about a 1-hour drive away.
Fire bans are common in New South Wales during summer and dry periods, so check local recommendations before heading out.
