Sites are large with varying distance between each to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space. Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m. IMPORTANT: Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, with conditions, and a $20 fee applies. Please check with Hosts before booking. Once approved, please add the Pets Extra when booking. (Saturday night 2-night minimum) There is no mobile reception or internet access, therefore, providing a true off-grid retreat. Self-sufficient campers are preferred. (Campfires) we have 5 fire pits on some of our sites , fires are permitted during the winter months. We also have 2 x 4 star cabins which sleep 15 between them, they are listed separately on Hipcamp. Destroyed in the March and July 2022 floods, we have now re-built and are loving welcoming back our guests. Bring your caravans, tent or swag - all are welcome! Unfortunately, boats are not. Relax and enjoy the serenity whilst being only 1 hour from Sydney. We offer the site to one group only, a maximum of 20 guests. However note, we are not a place for rowdy groups and parties. Groups are welcome here to enjoy the time with their family and friends, play a little music and relax by the river. The river can get busy (which is great after the floods as it has been dead for so long) and so can the road across the river but if you are enjoying your family and friends you won't even notice! Enjoy our little getaway down by the Hawkesbury River only 10 minutes from historic Windsor. A beautiful river shack for your use exclusively, including fire pit with direct access to the Hawkesbury river. Destroyed in the March and July 2022 floods, we have now re-built and are loving welcoming back our guests. Bring your caravans, tent or swag - all are welcome! Unfortunately, boats are not. Relax and enjoy the serenity whilst being only 1 hour from Sydney. We offer the site to one group only, a maximum of 20 guests. However note, we are not a place for rowdy groups and parties. The river can get busy (which is great after the floods as it has been dead for so long) and so can the road across the river but if you are enjoying your family and friends you won't even notice! We welcome dogs and can host horses in one of the paddocks. Beautiful campsite with plenty of shaded areas. A lovely forest at the back of the property to wander around in. Also the location of the Bunyip gives easy access to the national parks in the area. Camping at Jila Campgrounds was an experience. The mountain-perched site with river frontage is perfect, lovely for kayaking or just unwinding by the water. They provide toilets and showers, which makes things comfortable. The campground feels very safe, even for solo campers, and it’s pet-friendly so Kyoto was happy exploring. One great thing: there’s no reception or mobile signal, which is ideal if you want to disconnect. Just make sure you save all your important notes offline before you arrive. The owner was super helpful. When our car broke down, he helped us get it working again. That kind of support made a big difference. A word of caution: during a short but heavy rain with strong wind, a nearby car was struck by a falling tree. It’s wise to camp a little distance from large trees if the weather turns. Overall, I really like this place: mountain views, riverside calm, and a helpful owner. It’s about an hour from us, and we’d definitely go back.

I personally think the drive in with a trailer on the back is a 4wd road, not just because it's steep and bumpy but my 2wd was too low. Beautiful area to visit and a wide variety of camp sites available from grass paddocks to more hidden bushier areas. There was probably 8-10 camping groups when we visited and we all had plenty of space. The facilities were great and they even have a family shower room which was convenient for wrangling a small child at shower time. Wood can be purchased on site too. The bird life was fantastic and there is a river wrapping the property. Hosts were very friendly. We will come back for a stay.

Blue CornerStone Campsite – Oakville, Hawkesbury Welcome to Blue CornerStone, a simple, private 5-acre property in Oakville, just 1 hour northwest of Sydney and only minutes from the historic town of Windsor. This is not a large commercial campground – it’s our home, and we open it up to guests who enjoy the relaxed, down-to-earth feel of camping on private land. You’ll be sharing the property with us (we live in the house on-site), as well as our horses, pets, and plenty of local birdlife. You can set up camp by the dam, choose from a powered or unpowered site, or book our freshly renovated motorhome for a cosy stay. There is a simple outdoor toilet available for guests to use. What to expect: • A peaceful spot away from the main road. • Horses and dogs welcome (with paddocks, a tack room, and float parking). • A dam to cool off in. • Open spaces to relax and enjoy the slower pace. • Fire pits and barbecues are allowed with sensible use. Little river is a large campsite set up for groups , it has a large undercover area , with basic cabins . There are flushing toilets and hot showers, the use of our commercial kitchen is included . Little River is a private venue so you get the site to your group only. Imagine waking up to the sound of the birds busily going about their day , or spotting many of the wildlife around. Little river is surrounded by pristine bush land with spectacular views of the escarpment . It suits groups for gathering ,parties , weddings , family birthdays or friends get together. There is ample space to bring your own camper or tent , it does have basic cabins available for use . Little River is very private and is bounded by Webbs Creek, which is a tidal water way and great for a swim , bring a kayak or blow up floats and enjoy the serenity. There is space to play music into the evening must cease at midnight. There are beautiful mowed fields for games . We do offer packages including meals for weddings and parties price on application. Little River suits groups of 30 or more the basic pricing is for the minimum of 30. Kitchen is set up with all the basics for cooking , with a large walk in cool room,stove top , oven , BBQ microwave ,however there are no plates cups or cutlery provided please BYO. The camping spot and outdoor bathroom are a good distance from the cabin, separated by bush and gardens. The available area is mostly flat, suitable for tents, camper trailer, or vans. On the site you can have multiple tents/vans to fit your group up to 8 people. Our property is just 30mins from Windsor, in the beautiful Hawkesbury Region. You'll arrive via 2.5km of winding dirt road, suitable for 2wd, subject to potholes after heavy rain. The road may not be suitable for larger vans due to a few tight corners. Hunter Valley

The Macdonald River winds its way north from Wisemans Ferry all the way into the Hunter Valley wine region. Stop to visit the colonial town of St Albans—lunch at the riverside pub is a must—before exploring the wild landscapes of the Yengo National Park. There’s a wide range of bushland hikes, 4WD excursions, and mountain bike trails in the park, plus several camping grounds and picnic areas to choose from.  

Blue Mountains

Southwest of Wiseman’s Ferry, the Blue Mountains National Park is the outdoor getaway of choice for day-trippers from Sydney. Ride the Scenic Railway or Cableway to admire dramatic gorges and waterfalls, spot kangaroos and koalas as you hike through lush eucalyptus forests, and see the famous Three Sisters rocks. Tourist parks provide camping near all the main attractions, while tranquil farm stays and bush campgrounds offer a back-to-nature experience.

Central Coast

When to go

Summer (December through February) is peak season in Wiseman’s Ferry, and it’s best to book campsites in advance if visiting at this time. Spring and autumn provide the ideal weather for bushwalking and camping in the national parks, and the natural landscapes are at their most colorful, scattered with spring wildflowers or fall foliage. The town falls quiet in winter, but most campsites remain open year-round, and rates are often lower. 

Know before you go

  • There are buses to Wisemans Ferry from Sydney, but you will need your own transport to explore the surrounding national parks.
  • Wisemans ferry has a number of general stores but for specialist camping gear you might need to go to Sydney, about a 1-hour drive away.
  • Fire bans are common in New South Wales during summer and dry periods, so check local recommendations before heading out.
