We are located a short 13km drive off the Hume Highway and only 45 minutes from Wagga Wagga the largest inland city in NSW. Not only is Gundagai the gateway to the Riverina but the Snowy Mountains Alpine area is within a day trip from here too, making it a great central location. We are sheep graziers, and in season, visitors can observe the newborn lambs or freshly shorn sheep. There are no amenities available, self contained camping only. Campfires permitted in designated areas when restrictions aren't in place. Please consult hosts regarding fires during dry summer months even when no fire ban in place. Good access for caravans Karoola gives you the opportunity to fish, swim, boat or kayak on the river. You can walk along the riverbank or up onto the rocky outcrop for a great view of the Murrumbidgee floodplain and surrounding farming country or perhaps you would just like to relax with a good book and drink under the huge gumtrees on the riverbank in peace and quiet. Obviously from our name, but also from "creel" which is a wicker basket usually used for carrying fish. Escape the hustle bustle of life on our 10 acres alpaca life style farm which is nestled between beautiful hills and grazing properties on Walteela Road in Mannus (20 min drive to Tumbarumba). Walteela means "Place of Peace" and that is what you might be looking for. No traffic waking you. Listen to the sounds of nature instead... Enjoy the peacefulness, local wildlife (kookaburras, echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, etc.), small creek, stunning mountain views and dark skies for star gazing. Birdwatchers... you'll love it! Love fishing? Enjoy a chat with Craig, who has been a pro line fisherman for 18 years in the GBR! He loves to explore, show off the local fishing spots and a chat about all things fishing! Put your canoe in a few kms up stream and finish at the campsite or just enjoy the solitude sitting around the campsite. A scenic drive following the Murrumbidgee and Tumut Rivers can be taken as an alternative route to Tumut or Gundagai. The site can be used a base camp to fishing, wineries, bushwalking and ski fields. There is free wood for camp fires. Friendly, well controlled pets are welcome as long as they do not spoil the camping experience of others and being mindful that there may be cattle and sheep grazing nearby. Children need to be supervised at all times as the river can be fast moving and become deep quickly and there may be the odd snake. Murrumbidgee water should be boiled or bring your own. An ideal location for trout fishing, boating, wildlife watching situated at the gateway to the Snowy Mountains and a perfect base for exploring the surrounding region. The property boasts it’s own private 3 acre island, opening up another kilometre of river frontage. Enjoy catching your own fish on the banks of the beautiful Tumut River. This historic property was the site of one of the two original settlements of Tumut and was where the first bridge over the river was built. It is home to the largest English Elm tree in the world. The fertile river flats were first used for growing tobacco and then during the 1900’s, for the growing of millet. Don McDonald (Brett’s grandfather) was one of the pioneers of the local millet industry and the famous Tumut millet brooms. Six generations of local knowledge within the same family ensures your stay will be warm, welcoming and full of local information. Our cottages come complete with antique furniture and are personally maintained to the highest standards. River Bend Camp

29km from Tumut · 10 sites · Tents, RVs · Gundagai, NSW

Camp on Murrumbidgee River, total river frontage is 300m, so room to spread out amongst the River Red Gums. Flat campsites with a sloping access to the river. Maximum 10 campers. The 15 acres of camping area is part of a mixed farming property (1500acres) and has easy access for camper vans. The site is 8-10 minutes from Gundagai. A canoers paradise! Put your canoe in a few kms up stream and finish at the campsite or just enjoy the solitude sitting around the campsite. A scenic drive following the Murrumbidgee and Tumut Rivers can be taken as an alternative route to Tumut or Gundagai. The site can be used a base camp to fishing, wineries, bushwalking and ski fields. There is free wood for camp fires. Friendly, well controlled pets are welcome as long as they do not spoil the camping experience of others and being mindful that there may be cattle and sheep grazing nearby. Children need to be supervised at all times as the river can be fast moving and become deep quickly and there may be the odd snake. Murrumbidgee water should be boiled or bring your own. There are no toilets at the site and all rubbish should be taken with you. Property owner lives nearby and is available for assistance

Weekend Trip to Burrendah Farm Camp

Gorgeous view, perfect for an overnighter with my kids. Sunset was beautiful. Had water at the site, even though we’d brought our own, and Sarah was great. Very welcoming and even took us around the farm in their 4x4. Kids loved it, slept like a log and would highly recommended for an overnight stay.

This was our second time staying at Jarabin - it’s one of our family’s favourite HipCamps. The property is beautiful and quiet, and we ordered the BBQ pack again which was brilliant. Instructions to access the property are very clear and easy to follow. Although the weekend ended pretty wet, the weather held out long enough for a post-dinner swim in the river with the sunset in the background. Pretty close to perfection!

I loved camping at Bahwidgee! It’s so well maintained and right on the river. Wayne is an incredibly friendly host and his farm is beautiful. Only a short 3-4km walk into town (Tumut) and there’s a lovely river walk there too. Would definitely recommend and we will be back for sure.

Wonderful open area with plenty of options along the riverbend. Fishing difficult due to snags but we definitely gave it a good crack. Very steep decent down to river camping area. We had heavy caravan and luckily dry weather allowed us to get out ok. Also an awesome winery 🍷 2 mins away.

This was our third stay here in 3 years and it still is our favourite camping spot. Wayne as always was a great host. It's so tranquil with the great grassy camp sites combined with the river the bird life the cattle the views of the surrounding area and maybe a trout or two make it just so relaxing. The new toilets were a added bonus. It's only a 10 minute drive Into town for supplies and entertainment. We will be back again next year. Rob

3rd time visiting Karoola Station. This time we stayed at River Bend as the grass was too high at The Lagoon. There were 3 of us with caravans plenty of room and nice and peaceful spot. We had 4 dogs with us and they were pretty happy too!

Bahwidgee is an excellent spot, so beautiful being able to camp right by the river. The location was easy to find with the clear instructions provided. We saw a platypus in the river whilst we had breakfast in the morning.

Property was beautiful. Access through the property was well sign posted. We stayed at the lagoon where there was slow moving water for the kids to play in and fast water for fishing and adult fishing. Be warned the GPS dot for the lagoon of used in Google maps will direct you to the north side of the river and the camp-site is on the south side of the river. All in all looking forward to camping here again with friends.
