Rolling hills, Quite still. Few trees, Much to see. Many granite rocks, Like sheep in flocks. Natural sounds, At ‘Duck Downs’. T.J Wilson We have 3 remote sites and 3 dispersed sites and the property is six kilometers from Dalgety township which is situated on the “Snowy River” NSW. We are located 30 minutes drive south east of Jindabyne and 40 minutes drive south west of Cooma. There is a flush toilet and fresh drinking water is available at our dispersed sites. Caravans can easily be filled up via garden hose and if you are staying on one of the remote sites this can be done easily prior to settling in. We have a mowed loop track giving easy access from each site to stroll to the top of the hill, walk the dog or enjoy the 360 degree views. Take a picnic in the evening or just a glass of wine and watch the sunset from the top of the hill. After dark, relax and toast some marshmallows over the fire pit and discuss what you are going to do the next day. The land was originally once a part of "Marranumbla Homestead". I have called it home since 1995 and now share it with my partner Phillip, our son, Danish the Whippet, Murphy the Malshi, Myonie the Moodle and Finley the cat. The house yard only had 2 trees when I bought it and the house built originally in 1980 still needed completing on the inside. I have worked hard to create an extensive garden in a sometimes harsh environment. It's our peaceful part of the "Snowy Monaro", the property being 155 acres in total. A great place to wander and breath in the fresh air. In Dalgety township you can have a meal and catch up with a local at the "Buckley's Crossing Hotel" or take a walk around the show ground, town and along the river reserve where you can have a swim and relax on the riverbank and view the historic Dalgety Bridge circa 1888 across the Snowy River. Then come back in the evening to look for platypus when they come out to play. Visit the local 'Snowy Vineyard and Microbrewery' incorporating the 'Dalgety Brewing Company' situated approximately 10km north of the town on the Snowy River or have lunch at 'Tuscany in Dalgety' 2km to the west of town. Take a trip to Jindabyne which is half an hours drive to the west, walk round the lake, visit the 'Jindabyne Brewery', great food, beer, cider and wine or the many other restaurants and cafes in town. Spend some time at the 'Snowy Region Visitor Centre' and the 'Gaden Trout Hatchery' or catch your own trout in the lake or at the 'Eucumbene Trout Farm'. Travel beyond into the mountains and Kosciusko National Park to Thredbo, Perisher Valley and Charlottes Pass. Explore the many walks in the national park including the walk to the top of Mt Kosciusko. Visit the 'Wild Brumby Distillery' enjoy some European fare and locally crafted Schnapps, Gin, Vodka or Gluhwein. Take a day trip through Adaminaby to 'Yarrangobilly Caves and Thermal Pool' in the northern end of Kosciusko National Park, picnic, swim and tour the caves. Visit the "Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Café in Cooma and learn the history of the scheme. The Centre houses a comprehensive exhibition hall including an extensive photographic collection, models, hands-on exhibits and a one of a kind immersive theatre. You will find information about the Scheme such as engineering, the environment, the National Electricity Market, history, water management and power generation. Make it your base camp while enjoying all that the winter season has to offer and lets not forget the skiing and snow boarding of course. Well that's just a sample of some of the things you can do but if all that sounds like too much, just put your feet up and have a rest at your campsite!! P.S. The annual Dalgety Show is held on the first Sunday in March every year and did you know that Dalgety was one of the sites considered for our country's capital. Telstra 4G coverage on the property, limited Optus coverage.

*Due to the weather situation in the area the creek flows are sporadic. However, the several waterholes on the creeks do maintain water. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns* Our little piece of paradise is nestled quietly in a valley in Wulgulmerang East in East Gippsland. With 111 acres of primarily untouched native bushland to explore, we know this land needs to be shared to appreciate the beauty. With two creeks meeting and Goodwin Gorge on the property there are plenty of natural delights to enjoy. Approximately 2kms down the road is the convergence of the mighty Alpine and Snowy National Parks. Here you will find Little River Falls and Little River Gorge which are only minutes away from the property. Little River Gorge is Victoria's deepest Gorge and home to the one of the last colonies of the critically endangered Black Footed Rock Wallaby. The Wulgulmerang Creek that runs through the property, empties into the gorge in a stunning cascade, after rain. We are a dog friendly property but as we share this land with a myriad of wildlife we ask that appropriate respect is considered. McKillops Bridge is approx 20kms away. McKillops Road is considered amongst the 10 most scenic drives in Australia, with jaw dropping scenery along the way. Alternately take the scenic drive to Jindabyne along the Barry Way approximately 2 1/2 hours away. The property is remote with the nearest township of Buchan 40 minutes away. We will endeavour to have basic emergency supplies available at the homestead. There is no mobile coverage at the campsites, giving you the opportunity to disconnect from your electronics and enjoy nature. There is access to the Wifi at the homestead if you do need to make calls.

Bimbimbi is located at the free flowing, clear beginning of the Murray River, at Tintaldra. We have 5 separate sites. Each site is for a single group, so you know you will only have yourselves in close proximity. Each site has access to the river, although The Fishing Hole, River Red Gums and The Big Bend have better access than The Willows and The Old Pump Hole. Swimming, fishing for Murray Cod, hiking along the river bank (we have 3km of frontage), bird watching, relaxing are typical things to do here. Or, if you are more adventurous, borrow our canoes and do a down river trip, or go for a longer hike up Pine Mountain in the Pine Mountain National Park. Or, bring your mountain or road bikes and do some cycling on the picturesque roads and trails. The campsites are well spaced out, with a minimum of 200 metres between the nearest two locations. In fact, it either impossible or very difficult to see anyone else at the other camp sites from your own camp site. Each camp site is accessible via its own track, so you won't have other vehicles driving past your camp site. We have a Leave No Trace policy, please take all rubbish with you. (This also means not throwing bottles, cans, bottle tops, aluminium foil and other non-biodegradable items into the camp fire.) Dogs are allowed, but please keep them under control, particularly if near cattle. Campfires are allowed only in braziers provided, when fire bans are not in place. You can gather your own firewood or purchase firewood from us (see "Extras"). Please arrive before dark if you haven't been here before. It is difficult to understand a new camp site in the dark. We provide a toilet at each location, for your convenience and the cleanliness of the camp site in general. Nothing but your human deposit and toilet paper in the toilet please. No disposable wipes, nappies etc. Please put these in your trash. Also, bring your drone but use it only over locations that are not occupied. We have canoes to borrow, seasonal produce is available from the garden and our own beef and local lamb is also now available. And, again, wood for purchase if you don't want to gather your own. Our story starts in Far North Queensland, when a german backpacker, me :), met an Aussie fisherman, Craig. To cut the long story short, after living together in Germany we decided to move back to Australia. We had a vision, trying to find our perfect place to live. Starting out with a car, a camper trailer and two bags we travelled from North Queensland down to Tasmania. Looking for a place to live. On our way through Tumbarumba everything started to unfold and we fell in love with our property. The feel, the experience and the climate. This was it! We've found our perfect place and finally named it "Creal's Rest" which has two meanings for us. Obviously from our name, but also from "creel" which is a wicker basket usually used for carrying fish. Escape the hustle bustle of life on our 10 acres alpaca life style farm which is nestled between beautiful hills and grazing properties on Walteela Road in Mannus (20 min drive to Tumbarumba). Walteela means "Place of Peace" and that is what you might be looking for. No traffic waking you. Listen to the sounds of nature instead... Enjoy the peacefulness, local wildlife (kookaburras, echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, etc.), small creek, stunning mountain views and dark skies for star gazing. Birdwatchers... you'll love it! Love fishing? Enjoy a chat with Craig, who has been a pro line fisherman for 18 years in the GBR! He loves to explore, show off the local fishing spots and a chat about all things fishing! Mannus Creek is only a couple of min drive away and Mannus Lake 15-20 min drive. Hand feed our friendly alpacas, greet our pet chickens and find some eggs. Ask us for some fresh herbs from our garden if you like cooking with a little extra  flavour or use them to enjoy a herbal tea.  Heard of "Swedish Torch" yet? An amazing way of having a campfire, that burns for hours. Cook on it or just enjoy the beautiful mess free fire. Book ahead! We invite you to enjoy the beautiful campsite with its amazing energy for body, mind and soul. Children 5 years and under stay free of charge. Is your group size bigger than our max. amount? Get in touch with us. To stay tuned follow us @crealsrest on Instagram and Facebook. We are happy to chat and are looking forward to have you as a hipcamper! Love, Tatjana and Craig

Please see "Extras" We are open from October to April.

The best camping near Thredbo with a private bathroom guide

Where to go

Thredbo-Perisher area

This area has three mountain resorts: Thredbo, Perisher, and Charlotte Pass. Skiing, snowshoeing, and ice climbing take over in winter, and alpine hikes, mountain biking, and historic sightseeing reign supreme in spring, summer, and fall. Stay in a luxurious lodge featuring an indoor fireplace, TVs, a fully equipped kitchen, fresh bed linens, and views of Lake Jindabyne. Or opt for a charming cottage with full bathrooms, outdoor furniture to lounge on, and AC to keep cool on hot days. Tent campers and caravanners can also find multiple campgrounds offering toilets, picnic tables, and BBQ facilities.

Yarrangobilly area

The biggest highlight of this area is Yarrangobilly Caves—six lofty limestone caverns that make an unforgettable experience, whether viewed on a guided tour or explored solo. Come back above ground and warm up with a dip in the natural thermal pool. Anglers can easily drop in a line when staying in riverside campgrounds with picnic tables, BBQs, and toilets. They welcome swags, tents, camper trailers, and caravans. Or rent a guest room in a heritage home with electricity, a kitchen, full bathroom, and a lengthy porch for sipping coffee.

Lower Snowy River area

Get wet and wild on a whitewater-rafting adventure, conquer a cross-country mountain-bike tour, or head to scenic lookouts with valley views when visiting the Snowy River area. Several campgrounds are on-site and have pitches for swags, tents, and camper trailers, but bigger motorhomes need to find accommodation elsewhere. Standard amenities like picnic tables, BBQ areas, and toilets are common, but more remote campgrounds have rugged settings. Keep an eye out for wallabies, ‘roos, and emus that wander around throughout the day.

When to go

July and August have the best snowpack in Thredbo. When spring arrives in November, colourful wildflowers and fresh foliage transform the snowy landscape. Combined with slightly cooler temperatures, it’s a great season for hiking, biking, and sightseeing. The hotter summer weather makes that a prime time for getting soaked from head to toe on a whitewater-rafting tour or lounging on a lilo in the Snowy River. As autumn approaches and the temperatures cool off again, anglers can cast rods for the last time before the cold sets in.
