320 acres for you to explore! This farm is home to 50 cows, their calves, and a bunch of wildlife! Watch the calves running around, explore the bush tracks, sit by the creek, fish and enjoy the serenity! With 4 private campsites bordering the creek Aroona Park can cater to almost any size party; whether you’re camping solo, a couple on a bush getaway or a group looking for lots of space to spread out, our sites are perfectly positioned to ensure you feel like you’re all alone! WILDLIFE: All manner of birdlife, wombats, possums, wallabies, kangaroos, foxes, deer, water rats, platypus and trout. We are happy to point you toward the best places to see deer feeding and wallowing, fox cubs playing and platypus swimming. FARM: This is a functioning farm; there are cows and calves most of the year. Our cows are very friendly and curious, and whilst we endeavour to keep them away from the campsite, sometimes they can't help themselves! EXPLORING: Our property joins onto State Forest, which can be explored at guests own risk, once you set foot off our property, Hipcamp no longer insures against injury etc. Within our property, we have bush tracks, animal trails and a trickling stream running through a beautiful, shallow gorge, where many adventures have been had! WATER PLAY: Our sites make the most of the creek flowing through the property; Creek Ford and Shady Shallows have the best water access and are especially great for kids. Please be mindful of children around water, an adult must be present at all times. CAMPFIRES: Who doesn't love a good campfire?! We have numerous fire pits at the campsites that are there to be used. No chainsaws are to be used on the property, as per Hipcamps insurance policy. There is plenty of wood around that you are welcome to collect yourselves, otherwise, we can supply loads of wood for $50 (enough for a campfire over a long weekend). SETTING UP CAMP: Please be mindful of where you choose to set up your camp. While we endeavour to keep the sites as safe as possible, some hazards include; trees and limbs falling, snakes and thistles. TRACK CONDITION The track to the campsite is bumpy and needs to be driven slowly, we have had a 22ft caravan towed by a 100 series set up here with no troubles. FIREARMS: as per Hipcamps insurance policy, no firearms are to be used on the property. We understand that State Forest attracts hunting, which we are all for, however, we ask you to respect our wishes and keep all firearms legally stored while you are on our property. Do speak to us for some local knowledge about great hunting spots! WHAT'S AROUND? BENAMBRA is a small, remote farming community 15 minutes from the property. There you will find a post office and general store, a small playground, public toilets and a great pub open for beautiful meals and cold beers Tues-Sun nights! OMEO is about 30 minutes from the property, where there is a state-of-the-art pump track, brand new mountain bike trails, two pubs, a bakery, plenty of cafes/eateries, Foodworks, hardware supplies and a camping and fishing shop. Speak to us about local attractions and things to do in this historic area!

65km from Thredbo · 11 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging · Tintaldra, VIC
Bimbimbi is located at the free flowing, clear beginning of the Murray River, at Tintaldra. We have 5 separate sites. Each site is for a single group, so you know you will only have yourselves in close proximity. Each site has access to the river, although The Fishing Hole, River Red Gums and The Big Bend have better access than The Willows and The Old Pump Hole. Swimming, fishing for Murray Cod, hiking along the river bank (we have 3km of frontage), bird watching, relaxing are typical things to do here. Or, if you are more adventurous, borrow our canoes and do a down river trip, or go for a longer hike up Pine Mountain in the Pine Mountain National Park. Or, bring your mountain or road bikes and do some cycling on the picturesque roads and trails. The campsites are well spaced out, with a minimum of 200 metres between the nearest two locations. In fact, it either impossible or very difficult to see anyone else at the other camp sites from your own camp site. Each camp site is accessible via its own track, so you won't have other vehicles driving past your camp site. We have a Leave No Trace policy, please take all rubbish with you. (This also means not throwing bottles, cans, bottle tops, aluminium foil and other non-biodegradable items into the camp fire.) Dogs are allowed, but please keep them under control, particularly if near cattle. Campfires are allowed only in braziers provided, when fire bans are not in place. You can gather your own firewood or purchase firewood from us (see "Extras"). Please arrive before dark if you haven't been here before. It is difficult to understand a new camp site in the dark. We provide a toilet at each location, for your convenience and the cleanliness of the camp site in general. Nothing but your human deposit and toilet paper in the toilet please. No disposable wipes, nappies etc. Please put these in your trash. Also, bring your drone but use it only over locations that are not occupied. We have canoes to borrow, seasonal produce is available from the garden and our own beef and local lamb is also now available. And, again, wood for purchase if you don't want to gather your own. Please see "Extras" We are open from October to April.

Millwood is located 6kms from COOMA n.s.w. in the Snowy Mountains Region and is within easy reach to a number of great locations. It is about 90 minutes from Canberra, just over an hour from Thredbo and Perisher and Mt Selwyn snowfields and 1.5 hours from all the beautiful beaches that the South Coast has to offer. A short drive of under 7 minutes takes you to the Murrumbidgee River on a sealed council road. There is a flat grassed picnic area and council gas run b-bques under cover. You may find internet and mobile not fully covered here. I have a mobile that I use which works well depending where I stand. Now has 3 adjacent camp sites available. If not booked by others its a quiet spot amongst a bush setting. also offers an RV site. You can relax around your firepit and enjoy watching the beautiful wildlife that come to visit the property including Kangaroos, Wombats and a variety of native birds. The host runs a Day Spa from her home so you may like to treat yourself to some self care. Please check with host as to availability of Spa Treatments. Why not check out our outdoor clawfoot bath during your stay. It's an amazing experience under the stars! Tank water is available but please use sparingly. The surrounding region is hugely popular for cyclists and bushwalkers with many great tracks available to explore. Mt Gladstone now has a popular track and Iread there are plans for a big upgrade. There is a lookout at the top and can recommend Miss Heides Austrian Restaurent. Amazing authentic home cooked bavarian meals in a rustic log cabin with a fireplace. The Murrumbidgee River is just about 4 klms away, where you can enjoy a picnic along it's banks and take a dip if it's warm enough. We prefer campers who are fully self contained. Campers must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. There is an outside basic toilet that is a compost type with sawdust and is cleaned regularly. No pets please as we have a wildlife corridor here. * I am considering quiet well behaved pets for campers but not in the bush hut. Will verify soon*.

43km from Thredbo · 1 site · Tent, RV · Nariel Valley, VIC
On our property, we offer one private campsite with a large shelter making it ideal for all-weather group camping. While situated on a farm, it is a fenced-off space that can accommodate numerous vans. The Shelter is equipped with a wood heater, BBQ, stove, sink, tables, and some chairs. In addition, it has a basic shower and a toilet. The site has a designated cooking fire and a campfire. The Shelter has solar power providing lighting and charging facilities. All you need for a rustic home away from home! No mobile service or internet at the campsite ensures that you will switch off and relax. The Shelter is not a cabin but an open-air space for use by campers who are self-sufficient with bedding arrangements - swags, tents, camper trailers or vans. The creek running through the property provides great swimming and fishing (a 400m walk/drive from The Shelter), and the surrounding bush environment provides opportunities for walks, 4WD adventures, and wildlife spotting. More about the property... In 2017 we purchased our small farm in the Nariel Valley. It ticked all the boxes including a creek running through it and backing onto bushland. Now the dream has been realised and we are living in our new home, on our farm, with our small herd of Angus cows. We knew Nariel was special but we continue to discover its myriad of offerings for those who love the great outdoors. We look forward to sharing what we have discovered with our visitors. About Nariel: Wildlife abounds here, with wombats, emus, and kangaroos roaming the property and the list is endless for bird-watching enthusiasts. The remote location on a clear night provides a dark star-filled sky with shooting stars a common occurrence for those who are looking. Nariel Creek is a renowned trout fishing destination. The tracks around the Nariel Valley are a popular destination for motorbike and 4WD enthusiasts. Mount Pinnibar Track and Mount Gibbo are both accessed via Nariel. Several high country huts, all re-built since the January 2020 bushfires, are within an hour drive. Nariel was a thriving community during the gold rush, at that time there were 4 schools and a pub in the valley. Historical relics and gold can still be found. Panning in the creek and tributaries can be a rewarding pastime. The Nariel Creek provides a great spot to cool down in summer and is fast-flowing for a fun float through rapids. In spring the Nariel Valley is where you will find some beautiful wildflower sites. Nariel is home to the Nariel Folk Festival held over a week in late December – early January each year. And that is only in Nariel Valley! Corryong is the nearest township (population ~1350) and is 25 minutes away. The Murray River at Towong is 40 minutes away. Kayaking, push bike riding and many other pursuits are all on your doorstep if you can drag yourself away from Nariel.

Our story starts in Far North Queensland, when a german backpacker, me :), met an Aussie fisherman, Craig. To cut the long story short, after living together in Germany we decided to move back to Australia. We had a vision, trying to find our perfect place to live. Starting out with a car, a camper trailer and two bags we travelled from North Queensland down to Tasmania. Looking for a place to live. On our way through Tumbarumba everything started to unfold and we fell in love with our property. The feel, the experience and the climate. This was it! We've found our perfect place and finally named it "Creal's Rest" which has two meanings for us. Obviously from our name, but also from "creel" which is a wicker basket usually used for carrying fish. Escape the hustle bustle of life on our 10 acres alpaca life style farm which is nestled between beautiful hills and grazing properties on Walteela Road in Mannus (20 min drive to Tumbarumba). Walteela means "Place of Peace" and that is what you might be looking for. No traffic waking you. Listen to the sounds of nature instead... Enjoy the peacefulness, local wildlife (kookaburras, echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, etc.), small creek, stunning mountain views and dark skies for star gazing. Birdwatchers... you'll love it! Love fishing? Enjoy a chat with Craig, who has been a pro line fisherman for 18 years in the GBR! He loves to explore, show off the local fishing spots and a chat about all things fishing! Mannus Creek is only a couple of min drive away and Mannus Lake 15-20 min drive. Hand feed our friendly alpacas, greet our pet chickens and find some eggs. Ask us for some fresh herbs from our garden if you like cooking with a little extra  flavour or use them to enjoy a herbal tea.  Heard of "Swedish Torch" yet? An amazing way of having a campfire, that burns for hours. Cook on it or just enjoy the beautiful mess free fire. Book ahead! We invite you to enjoy the beautiful campsite with its amazing energy for body, mind and soul. Children 5 years and under stay free of charge. Is your group size bigger than our max. amount? Get in touch with us. To stay tuned follow us @crealsrest on Instagram and Facebook. We are happy to chat and are looking forward to have you as a hipcamper! Love, Tatjana and Craig

The area has a lot of old gold mines within a 5 kilometre walk and many bike trails surrounded by mostly thick trees. Take your mountain bike on the old gold mining tracks which some would say are 4x4 trails but I have a station wagon and if you go slow it's ok. Turn right at Bush Pixie Mating Circle in Google Maps. This campsite has access to drinking water and a toilet (but no shower). There is access to rubbish facilities. Relax by the crackling fire in the evenings. We can supply firewood, kindling and fire starters for a small fee, just message us in advance, or you can BYO. Strictly no foraging for wood from the property please. There’s also no power hookups, taps or toilets so it's fully self-sufficient camping. For the peace of other campers, we don't allow generators or pets, sorry. Where to go

Thredbo-Perisher area

This area has three mountain resorts: Thredbo, Perisher, and Charlotte Pass. Skiing, snowshoeing, and ice climbing take over in winter, and alpine hikes, mountain biking, and historic sightseeing reign supreme in spring, summer, and fall. Stay in a luxurious lodge featuring an indoor fireplace, TVs, a fully equipped kitchen, fresh bed linens, and views of Lake Jindabyne. Or opt for a charming cottage with full bathrooms, outdoor furniture to lounge on, and AC to keep cool on hot days. Tent campers and caravanners can also find multiple campgrounds offering toilets, picnic tables, and BBQ facilities.

Yarrangobilly area

The biggest highlight of this area is Yarrangobilly Caves—six lofty limestone caverns that make an unforgettable experience, whether viewed on a guided tour or explored solo. Come back above ground and warm up with a dip in the natural thermal pool. Anglers can easily drop in a line when staying in riverside campgrounds with picnic tables, BBQs, and toilets. They welcome swags, tents, camper trailers, and caravans. Or rent a guest room in a heritage home with electricity, a kitchen, full bathroom, and a lengthy porch for sipping coffee.

Lower Snowy River area

Get wet and wild on a whitewater-rafting adventure, conquer a cross-country mountain-bike tour, or head to scenic lookouts with valley views when visiting the Snowy River area. Several campgrounds are on-site and have pitches for swags, tents, and camper trailers, but bigger motorhomes need to find accommodation elsewhere. Standard amenities like picnic tables, BBQ areas, and toilets are common, but more remote campgrounds have rugged settings. Keep an eye out for wallabies, ‘roos, and emus that wander around throughout the day.

When to go

July and August have the best snowpack in Thredbo. When spring arrives in November, colourful wildflowers and fresh foliage transform the snowy landscape. Combined with slightly cooler temperatures, it’s a great season for hiking, biking, and sightseeing. The hotter summer weather makes that a prime time for getting soaked from head to toe on a whitewater-rafting tour or lounging on a lilo in the Snowy River. As autumn approaches and the temperatures cool off again, anglers can cast rods for the last time before the cold sets in.
