We looked for alternative ways of living 6 years ago so we purchased 220 acres to build an off grid camping/eco resort. Here you can discover amazing wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, cockatoos, lyre birds and a lot of other birds (designated bird drinking stations through a WIRES program which has a lot of success.) Bring a camera and take in the incredible sights such as wildlife, cliffs, caves, and a magical view of Mount Yengo and Moruben from the top of the property. I stayed one night on a solo trip and had an awesome time. The directions from the host were clear and easy to follow, making the drive in simple. The gravity trails were great fun with a good mix of challenge and a tough pedal back up to the top. The campsite itself is huge, with plenty of space and privacy - perfect for a quiet getaway. Highly recommend!

Great location for a pitstop for our trip to Mudgee and beyond from Newcastle. Camped near the creek and would definately recommend a weekend or so stay. We met out host M'Liss and she was great. She gave us some recommendations to explore locally. We had the campsite to ourselves cooking over the fire.

Our stay at Rocky Retreat with Jaz and Ben was nothing short of magical. The place truly feels like a little piece of heaven, a serene escape where you can rest from the worries of the big world. Surrounded by amazing nature and abundant wildlife, it’s the perfect spot to reconnect with peace and beauty. Just a short drive from Wollombi town centre (if your navigation doesn't take you the wrong way!); would recommend a vehicle with some clearance for the rocky trail to the campsites. Also to note, there's little to no reception which can make contacting the host difficult once you're out there (especially when you've gone the wrong way and end up an hour late - sorry again!). Very peaceful, secluded valley with lots of different spots to camp - well-kept grassy areas under the stars or sheltered by the trees with plenty of room between campers. 'Choose your own adventure' camping gear available about the place, too - cooking gear and campfire making equipment. Composting loo was very tidy, with fresh flowers and little solar lights to help you find it in the night. Host very welcoming and obliging and made sure I had everything I needed. Just come home from a great 2 nights at Andy’s. Super easy drive from Sydney & felt like we were miles away. Had the place to ourselves and loved the view. Came home with loads of fresh fruit from the many road side stalls in the area.

Weekend Trip to Beelisco Honey Hipcamp

We had the whole Beelisco campsite to ourselves, and it was pure bliss. The place is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by nature with the most beautiful creek just a short walk away. It felt private and untouched — the ideal spot to unwind and reconnect with the outdoors. Everything was well-kept, and you can really feel the care that’s gone into maintaining the land. Can’t recommend it enough for anyone looking for a quiet, serene escape. We’ll definitely be back! 💚

Weekend Trip to Rocky Forest Bush Retreat Wollombi

Camper trailer / rooftop tent. We really enjoyed our camping weekend at Rocky Forest. Jaz and Ben are wonderful hosts, making us feel welcome to set up and explore their place (with some directions and secret must-see places nearby). Ben even rescued our hot water set up for our second night of off-grid camping. Lucky there was the ensuite in the cabin to use on the first night. Great communication from booking through to instructions on how to get there and during our stay. Highly recommended for groups, couples, families, anyone who wants a truly bush camping experience but with creature comforts.

Weekend Trip to Rocky Forest Bush Retreat Wollombi

Rocky Forest Retreat was a great place to camp - we had the whole site to ourselves and it was nice having the cabin nearby for the bathroom and sink for cleanup. It was our first time camping and it was a great place to relax and get away from the city. The drive to the campsite was a little tough (first time really utilising our 4wd setting) but it’s mainly a clearance thing. So if you have a car with good suspension it wouldn’t be too tricky and if you have done it before. We made it so I’m sure everyone can. Jaz and Ben are also really nice and they have some goats you can give your scraps too. They also have a few hiking trails. I’d recommend this camp site to people if they wanted to get away from the city but not have to drive so far!

Peaceful and well maintained. As mentioned in the description there is little shade available. Nesting ducks on the creek and ducking's swimming around. Private road on the way is a little rough, but nothing a standard AWD or 4WD can't handle and it's only 500m or so.

Terrific quiet spot in the Wollombi bush - the open grassy area was terrific for our family of four, with a nice clean toilet, tonnes of space, and lots of peace and quiet. Robert was a terrific host as well! Would advise caution for low slung 2wds as the road in is a little rough, but OK if you take it slow!
