Weekend Trip to Willowbank

We had a great time here. The owners were very helpful and friendly . The spot by the river was perfect — our boys had a great time exploring. We had a tent and the area was nice and flat. We will be back in the future.

4 nights at Willowbank

Willowbank in the little town of Stroud Road, wow what a gem. We glamped with our 22 foot van at the Long Flat site, which sits right beside the beautiful Karuah River. The huge private site with freshly mowed green grass on the perfectly level site made setting up a breeze, and the beautiful Karuah river flowing down from the Barrington Tops was just stunning, peaceful, calming, and truly majestic. Beautiful trees line the river, providing lovely shade and attracting a variety of birds that made every morning feel like a nature show. Even though the weather wasn't perfect, it didn't dampen our experience one bit. Jo and Ian, the wonderful hosts, went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Their kindness and care for the place and their guests really shines through. It’s just a short 10–15 minute drive into Stroud and about 30 minutes to Gloucester, but honestly, once you’re at Willowbank, you won’t want to leave we certainly didn’t. Can’t recommend this spot enough. Thank you so much Jo & Ian we can’t wait to visit again soon.

Weekend Trip to Cranky Rock Hunter Valley

Would absolutely recommend for solo travelers and families. There are cows on the property that come and say hello. The views are incredible, especially if you wake up early to see the sunrise above the trees. The property is enough off the main road that you don’t see anyone or hear cars but still close to town that you can pop in for a coffee or explore. The camp site is very big so that you and other campers aren’t right next to each other. Will definitely be back! Can’t recommend enough!

6 nights at Willowbank

This was our 2nd stay at Willowbank, this time we booked the Riverview site. The site was freshly mowed and maintained with access to the most stunning river, that looks like something from a story book and is home to platypus, which we were lucky enough to see early one morning. The hosts are some of the friendliest people you could meet and are very accommodating. We are looking forward to booking this site for trips away in the warmer weather to make more use of the river. Thanks Ian and Jo for allowing us to stay on your property, and the for the free tow 🤣😂

Weekend Trip to Willowbank

Unreal location with great scenery of the hills and flowing creek. Was a very private campsite without views of other campers which was really nice. Very spacious campsite to setup and relax in. Definitely plan on returning!

1 night at Wollombi Springs

I spent one night with my partner at Sunset Flats. and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better host. Robert was incredibly accommodating and just a genuinely nice person. He went above and beyond to help us out when things didn’t go to plan. First off, we lost reception on the way in (just a heads up for anyone with Vodafone – signal’s patchy in the area), so we couldn’t contact Robert or meet him at the designated meeting point. We ended up driving straight to the campsite instead. Not long after, Robert came down personally to check in and make sure we were settled, which we really appreciated. The next morning, our car wouldn’t start and we were pretty stressed—home was about two hours away and we were stuck. Without hesitation, Robert brought down jumper leads, helped us get the car going, and stayed with us the whole time to make sure everything was okay. It was honestly such a relief having someone that kind and helpful around. The campsite itself was beautiful, peaceful, and had everything we needed. We woke up early morning and saw a few wombats on a morning walk. Also - I’ve honestly never seen a campsite toilet that spotless before. But what really stood out was the hospitality and care Robert showed us. Would absolutely recommend staying here—not just for the spot, but for the kind of host who truly looks out for his guests.

Weekend Trip to Wollombi Springs

A great 2-night stay at Sunset Flats. Robert is super friendly, informative, and generous with his time. Communication was great. The place itself has plenty of space and corners to hide away in, and it is very well kept. I know he's going to be making further developments to the shape and structure of the property, and they all sound great. My one piece of feedback is the lack of substantial pieces of firewood. The place is swimming in wood to burn, but you need some logs for a good fire to take you into the night. I'm pretty resourceful and have the tools and energy to process what I found, so it wasn't a problem, but if it's claimed to be there, it probably should be. People love a good fire and plan, pack, and purchase around having logs to burn, and I probably would have picked up a bag or 2 if I'd known. Thanks again, Robert - I'll be back. Recommended.

Weekend Trip to Hunter Valley Hill Top Lovedale

I loved camping at Hunter Valley Hill Top. The views are great and it is very peaceful. There is absolutely no road noise around, it is far from any roads. You can see horses, cows and kangaroos roaming in the neighbouring paddocks. There was one noisy group camped next to us, the rest of the campers were courteous. The toilets were fine, just a bit crowded due to the Easter long weekend. I would come back again.

Weekend Trip to Wollombi Springs

Beautiful spot to camp. Very friendly and helpful host Robert. There was plenty of firewood and the composting toilet very clean during our time there. The stars were amazing and despite it being Easter and all sites booked, it was very private and far from the next campsite. Not far from Wollombi Village which is great to explore. The road up is pretty bumpy and a bit hairy in parts so be prepared for that but Robert meets you at the bottom and escorts you up. Highly recommend this place!

Had a great time. The campground was super expansive and beautiful. Plenty of space to set up with your own group but still be proximate to other campers. Hot shower was also a big plus.

Love coming out here! It’s quiet and secluded, and there’s plenty of space between each of the sites. Stayed for 1 night and it was very chill and relaxing. Perfect for a little getaway. Joanne is a lovely host, always so welcoming.

My son and I booked a very last minute one night getaway and we were not disappointed! The camp sites are sooo spread out and secluded which is exactly what we wanted. We were rght beside the water, easy to get down there, provided a great firepit for us and some wood too. It's beautiful! Son caught a bass within 15minutes of fishing. A spot I'd recommend and can't wait to come back to. Ian and Jo we're really great and accommodating lovely people.

We wish to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Worimi, Gringai and Biripi people the custodians, spiritual and cultural owners of these lands on which the Gloucester River runs. River Front Campsites is a picturesque camping area on the eastern edge of the Barrington Tops National Park (Gloucester Tops) and nestled on the banks of the crystal clear Gloucester River. A great spot for families and groups of all ages who love wide open natural spaces. A place to relax and enjoy the amazing mountain scenery, fabulous sunsets and bird life local to the area, along with other wildlife that graze the land. If you want to indulge in the natural wonders of the area, there are numerous walking trails in the nearby Gloucester Tops National Park, swim in the crystal clear water of the Gloucester River. Do some Bird watching. Other things to do around the area, Gloucester Farmers Market (monthly), Local Wineries, Cafes, Art Gallery and Museum. We are an active beef cattle farm. We run approximately 80 head of cattle. You will see our herd of cattle across the paddocks, which includes pregnant cows, younger cows, calves, and Brutus our bull. We will endeavor to run our cattle outside of the paddocks containing the campsites. For this reason, we ONLY allow dogs to stay if they remain on a lead or are well controlled. There are 6 sites to choose from beside the flowing river to set up your campsite, with shady areas, spacious grassy areas for the kids to run around or just relax and enjoy the surroundings. All of our campsites are perfect for having a campfire (fire season dependent). NO rubbish can be burnt in any campfires at all. Each Site will have a fire pit. BYO wood. These are sites only and NO toilet or shower facilities are provided, or freshwater. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper. (There are dump points located in Gloucester and Stroud townships, both approximately 40 min away). Access to River Front Campsites is partially by 12kms of gravel council managed road with 6 water crossings. Campsites are easily accessible by 4WD and 2WD vehicles. (Weather conditions permitting) Flood detour road available if needed. There is no rubbish collection on the campsites. You will be required to take all rubbish off the property when you leave. Fame Mountain Camp - pets welcome

We are a farm forestry property located in the middle of the north shore of Port Stephens. Two hours north of Hornsby. 1 hour north of Newcastle. 2 mins to Pindimar beach, 9 minutes to Coles and bottle shop, 11 minutes to surf beach, 12 minutes to Jimmy's Beach. Pets are welcome, but please pick up after them. Free firewood - Help yourself to what you need. The logs will need to be split as required. An axe and a wheelbarrow are supplied and are stored, in the firewood storage shed. - Every site has a fire pit. Hot showers and clean, decent toilets. Good mobile signal for Telstra and Optus networks. Two Communal Fridges and a cold communal spa. There is lots of space for campers so you will have privacy whilst you enjoy your camping adventure. We are located on a dead end road, so very rare to have any traffic after 8pm. Good fishing. Pretty much everywhere you can wet a line. Prawns are best bait. If your dog is on the government list of restricted breeds or on the dangerous dog list please leave at home We have a gentle, well trained old German Shepherd who adores kids but after being bitten by another dog, now prefers to stay inside the house and not visit the camp sites. PLEASE NOTE: 1) We ONLY ALLOW ONE camper trailer or ONE caravan per site. No limit on number of tents. 2) IF You Have more than 3 vehicles/site please contact host before booking. 3) Depending on the weather on the day, we may have to limit the number of vehicles that can be parked adjacent to your campsite. 4) NO late night check in . If you are a group larger than two people the check in time is between midday and sunset. Do not arrive after sunset. The reason being if you are a large group turning up late, you will ruin the camping experience of other campers who got there earlier to watch the sunset and just chill. Furthermore, the sunsets are one of the reasons people come here. Every single day it is totally different. If you arrive late you have missed it.... 5) As the business name suggests (mountain) our property is on a slope. We do have several flat areas for tents , hybrids, camper vans and small caravans. And we have 6 levelling blocks scattered across the sites. Dead flat is a concrete slab at any caravan park anywhere but here.

Located only 8 minutes drive from the historical town of Stroud which was settled by the AA Company in the 1820's as a food growing area. There are still many beautiful buildings from that period to explore. A dairy farm for many years, we switched over to beef around 15 years ago. Currently we run around 120 head of Angus and mixed breed cattle. Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway! We are offering 5 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river. You may get a visit from our horses, Dolly and Banjo and the cows and calves! Plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing. All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township) We hope to make your stay a pleasurable one with many happy memories made. Nestled within the picturesque Karuah River catchment area, Fernbrook is a working poultry and cattle farm, set over eight peaceful acres, and just five km away from the historic Stroud township. Spend evenings around the firepits (when fire restrictions are not in place), roasting marshmallows and stargazing under the night sky. Mornings are filled with the melodies of birds and wildlife, allowing you to truly reconnect with nature. Encounter local Red Necked Wallabies, Eastern Grey Roos, and the occasional Echidna. Fernbrook welcomes your furry companions too but requires dogs to be supervised and leashed at all times for their safety and that of our livestock. Leaving dogs off-leash may lead to eviction without refund, and any harm to livestock or dogs must be avoided. Basic amenities include a toilet (please bring your own environmentally friendly toilet paper) and shower. Campers may use our rainwater to fill their tanks, and hot water connections are available, with campers providing their own gas bottles. A small kitchenette equipped with a sink, cupboards, microwave, and power outlets for fry pans is available, with clear labeling of personal belongings. We are located 40 mins from Newcastle ,20 mins from Birubi Beach Anna Bay the northern end of the 32 km long Stockton beach which is well known for its giant sand dunes and great surfing, you can also go for a camel ride while you are there ,it's 30 mins to Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay which has several beautiful beaches and great restaurants. Next door is Oakvale Wildlife Park and close by is Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters and Go carts Go. A boat ramp to the Tilligerry river is 2.5 kms away which is a great area to fish and kayak . Popular bushwalking tracks are also nearby. Our local shops including a Bp foodworks, bakery, bottle shop, fruit and vege and Take away are 2.5 km away. Also close by is Murrays Brewery and Sunset Vines both with great food, wine, beer and weekend entertainment. We have a flushing toilet.Tank water is for onsite usage only and we ask that you are conservative with water usage. Electricity hook up is available within the campsite (bring an extension lead) BYO firewood and please be firesafe at all times Dogs are welcome, for the safety of others campers they must be kept on leash during your stay and please keep dogs away from all horses on the property. We do ask that you take all rubbish with you when you leave, we do supply a bin for recyclables such as bottles and cans only. The Branch River Retreat

Our property is private so we ask you to contact us first to ensure we can provide the facilities most suited to you. We are located on a wide river estuary, offering sites in open paddocks, secluded among trees and beside dams. It suits off-road independent hybrid caravaners and tent dwellers. The river is home to mangroves (so mosquitoes feed the leaping fish), all manner of sea creatures and dolphins are frequent in drier periods. Birdlife includes an array of land and waterbirds, such as Eagles, Magpies, Kookaburras, colourful parrots and smaller shyer birds. The wildlife includes kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, reptiles. You may espy a Koala along the foreshore. For this reason, while we accept dogs, they must be on a leash (if not just for their own safety). The boat ramp has good access for kayaks/canoes. Or just sit on a camper chair and dangle your feet in the water while watching the mud crabs go about their social business. Riverside sites are not powered and do not have water or sewerage. They are situated within 10m to 25m of each other and if this is too close, we recommend booking two sites. Generally, we prefer campers to be 100% self-contained, with their own toilet. A toilet is however accessible, but some 300m to 400m distance from the dams and rivers. There is cold potable running water here for topping up. Sealed roads to the front gate to access the property from north and south. All-weather gravel road access is available, although paddock sites can only be accessed by vehicle during dry periods. Weather willing, we can provide more secluded sites by some lovely dams, (please check conditions if you have concerns). Local groceries can be sourced from Karuah and Stroud. Activities include: - Bird/nature watching - Paddling/canoeing - Fishing - Bike riding (small motor vessels only by arrangement) - Surface type: grass or paddock leveled areas and others with slight slopes and accessed with 4WD (of course subject to weather). - Generally fair to good Mobile phone access. - BYO or Preorder firewood for applicable sites out of fire season. - No electrical connections unless by arrangement (for longer term Hipcampers) - We treat our own sewerage. - No generators please.

They can feed the baby ducks and turkeys and socialize with the geese! We have various equipment you can hire, including golf clubs, bbq, chairs and tables, and push bikes. For the family we can organize coits (a traditional Aussie hoop game) and a True Blue Aussie damper or doughboys for you to cook in the fire (all you need to bring is some flour). Premium and exclusive natural camping at its best. Our farm is located on the beautiful Karuah River in the picturesque Monkerai valley. The river is a fresh mountain river running from the foothills of Barrington Tops. We only offer 5 sites across our 300 acre property giving you absolute privacy and a sense of serenity We were very pleased to have been recognised by Hipcamp as being one of the top 20 Hipcamp locations in NSW for 2022. Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming canoeing floating on airbeds fishing photography or just enjoying. There is also some really nice bike riding and walking opportunities around the valley although you will be on gravel roads and we are only 25 min drive from the popular Dungog mountain bike park. You are likely to see a variety of birdlife other wildlife including black and white cockatoos ducks some lizards, occasionally wallabies, echidnas and if you are lucky a Platypus or two. We are fortunate to see platypus in the river frequently which is a sign of just how pristine the water running down from the mountains really is. You will have your campsite completely to yourself with no other camper near you. Privacy, tranquillity, relaxation and just enjoying nature is waiting for you. Be sure to bring your telescope as you’ll be amazed at the stargazing at night with no light pollution. With some lovely Spring rain the river is running beautifully and is great for a swim, fish or canoe. Swimming, canoeing and running the rapids on surf mats is always popular at our property and as long as the river is it normal levels and a lot of fun. However, we always highly recommend people wear some form of footwear in the river such as rafting sandals or old joggers or similar as the rocks are very hard on your feet and there’s a particular nasty little fish called a “Bullrout” that whilst rare can infect a nasty sting if you tread on one. No need to be overly concerned but be mindful. Our property is ideal for self-contained vans, camper trailers, medium motor homes, tents or swags, it’s up to you. There are no toilets so only suitable if you have your own toilet facilities and take away all waste when you leave. All toilet waste, leaving our property is very important and an absolutely essential requirement for all visitors. Public waste dump points are at Stroud, Dungog and Gloucester. Gloucester Dungog and historic Stroud village are nearby as well as Barrington Tops World Heritage wilderness area and national park. This is an operating farm and therefore farming activities such as cattle droving, fencing, grass cutting or hay making may occasionally be occurring somewhere near your site but we would always let you know. We are sure you will enjoy our farm far more than a crowded traditional caravan park or campgrounds. We do have some limited bags of firewood for sale at $20 a bag most of the year. These are heavy bags of very dry local Hardwood. You can also collect firewood along the riverbanks yourself or bring your own firewood for a campfire (subject to any fire restrictions) if that is easier and more convenient for you. When you make a reservation at the property we will always endeavour to put you in your preferred location as best we can. However if we are impacted by adverse weather or need to run cattle on certain parts of the farm then we may need to make a change to the actual site you are in and trust you understand.
