Weekend Trip to The Branch River Retreat

Peaceful spot alongside the river, we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to visit again. Pros: welcoming host, private and peaceful campsite, easy river access for a SUP or fishing or a rinse, safe from any major hazards for our toddler. Cons: toilet far away from site, lots of mosquitos early morning and evening, river is very dark so was a bit off putting to swim in but still refreshing, tent site on a bit of an incline which would be ideal to flatten further.

Had a great time. The campground was super expansive and beautiful. Plenty of space to set up with your own group but still be proximate to other campers. Hot shower was also a big plus.

This camp area was beautiful. It was easy to find, Spacious, and comfortable. The owners were friendly and helpful upon arrival. My kids had a great time exploring the property and meeting the farm animals.

Love coming out here! It’s quiet and secluded, and there’s plenty of space between each of the sites. Stayed for 1 night and it was very chill and relaxing. Perfect for a little getaway. Joanne is a lovely host, always so welcoming.

My son and I booked a very last minute one night getaway and we were not disappointed! The camp sites are sooo spread out and secluded which is exactly what we wanted. We were rght beside the water, easy to get down there, provided a great firepit for us and some wood too. It's beautiful! Son caught a bass within 15minutes of fishing. A spot I'd recommend and can't wait to come back to. Ian and Jo we're really great and accommodating lovely people.

What a stunning piece of paradise. We spent a rainy two days at Willowbank with our kids but still had a blast. Jo and Ian are fabulous hosts and we will be back.

Amazing site and hosts. So close to everything yet miles away from the world. Relax by the river, better yet jump in the refreshing flow. If you really need it we had strong mobile reception. Be patient and quiet in the early morning, you might catch a glimpse of a Platypus. Can not talk highly enough of the hosts. Extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. You can go wrong with a few days spend switching off here, better yet so close to supplies down the road make it a week.

Friendly host and an ideal camping spot for families. The farm animals pay you a visit in the morning which the kids really enjoyed. Easy and safe access to the river.

Loved camping here! It was peaceful and private. The river was beautiful. We camped near site #3. Debora met us at the gate to help us find our site as it was dark when we arrived. If you are by the river make sure to bring some mosquito repellent. We didn't see any dolphins this time but saw lots of other wildlife like crabs, possums, and kangaroos.

I don't want to say best camp spot ever as I want to keep it a secret!! But it is.

We camped overnight in our campervan and it was delightful. There were no other campers, and it was so peaceful next to the Rapids. The river front camping is a treat, and Joanne and Ian are terrific hosts to deal with. You can buy firewood for $18 but recommend you akso bring your own if you want a substantial campfire. Thanks Jianne for everything, including a smooth chain if communication and checking. We will be back! Sue and Geoff

Some of our campsites/ Van sites DO NOT come with facilities. Please read your site description carefully. We have 1 powered site that is power ONLY on our Dam site. No toilets, showers, kitchen or pool. You need to be fully self contained. Some Campsites are in our lovely small manicured bush garden setting. It's a level, grass/lawn shaded area. There are 4x 15 amp powered sites. Suitable for small quiet groups/ families. NOT suitable for loud partying. The state forest is a short 10min drive away for bush walking, mountain biking and 4 wheel driving. Beach is 40 min drive away. We are located close to the Central Coast and Newcastle. (In Cooranbong ) Some of our camp sites have access to three eco toilets and only one shared shower, rubbish facilities and drinking water. (Campfires) we have 5 fire pits on some of our sites , fires are permitted during the winter months. We also have 2 x 4 star cabins which sleep 15 between them, they are listed separately on Hipcamp. However the guests from both the camp sites and the cabins have shared access to the pool and facilities. Which includes a large under cover patio area. FRIENDLY PETS welcome. On certain camp sites ourSmall kitchen with microwave dishwasher and cook top and fridge may be used . Please just clean up any mess you make. For the next guest All cleaning products under sink. WE HAVE 2 DOGS that are people friendly., who love to meet new fury friends , they do have the run of our property . As our property has a lot of maintenance lawns /gardens ; we may use mowers blowers etc , we will possibly maintain between 10 am to 2 pm If needed.

Currently we run around 120 head of Angus and mixed breed cattle. Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway! We are offering 5 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river. You may get a visit from our horses, Dolly and Banjo and the cows and calves! Plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing. All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township) We hope to make your stay a pleasurable one with many happy memories made. The large lake is a feature of the property and abounds with bird life of many species. This campsite suits fully self sufficient campers with own drinking water and toilet/shower amenities. In summer you may see mumma swan and her baby cygnets, as well as lots of ducklings. Drop in your paddle board or kayak for a leisurely paddle. Take a relaxed stroll around the property and depending on the season you might spy a wylie fox or a turtle laying eggs. Deer occasionally visit and echidnas and wombats, although nocturnal animals sometimes are a precious sight. There are platypus in the creek and fish in the lake.k Pre-booked riding lessons available. We have a state forest over the road suited to bush walking or mountain bikes. Ammo the horse who galloped out in the Sydney 2000 Olympics opening ceremony is buried here at Lakestead Farm. We love to speak about our Olympic experience. We love our pristine environment so no bush poos allowed. We are located minutes from the M1, easy to break your journey, 40 minutes from Wahroonga and Newcastle exit. Just 5 minutes drive to Wyong Centre with shopping centre and good restaurants, and 20 minutes drive to beaches. Off the ground fires are allowed outside bushfire season. Wood to be supplied by campers. Our property is designed to welcome small groups of people who want a quiet getaway. Because we like to keep it more intimate, The property is not designed for large groups of 10 or more wanting a social gathering or party. We are an easy 40 minute drive to the Hunter Valley wineries and concerts in the vines The Lake can be fun to swim or paddle around but all visitors must wear life vests whilst in the water. Locally we have some great festivals to visit the Glenworth Food and Wine festival, Yarramalong valley Spring fair with Scarecrow comp, Wyong Love Lanes festival, Harvest festival, Ratmines Catalina Festival, Brisbane water Oyster Festival to name a few. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ. Camping toilet At Lakestead Farm we pride ourselves on our beautiful environment. We have lots of wildlife around. We are very upset when visitors to the Farm dig holes and poo in them. Leaving toilet paper on top. This is so unfair to us and future campers on our sites. Because this has occurred we will only allow campers with camping toilets. In order for us to accept your request you need to confirm you have a toilet. Don’t say yes if you don’t have one, Checks will be done, if you don’t have a portable toilet you will be asked to leave and your fees won’t be refunded. We have a turning lane entrance with boom gate security. When you arrive and set up, you will be able to ramble around our property and enjoy the ambience of the beautiful tree studded campground. Sit back in the afternoon and enjoy nature at its best and then a beautiful warm campfire, perfect!! Whether you're camping in a tent or vehicle, there's plenty of space to set up. The campsite is grassy and level, and 2WD accessible. We offer water hookup for caravans fill then disconnect $2, and there is a dump point for your camping toilet. Generators are permitted from 8am till 5pm (extreme heat on the day consideration). Pets welcome.

Our 25 acre property is set on rural farm land adjacent the Worimi Conservation lands at the gateway to beautiful Port Stephens and the Tilligerry Peninsular making it a great place to base while exploring our beautiful paradise. We are located 40 mins from Newcastle ,20 mins from Birubi Beach Anna Bay the northern end of the 32 km long Stockton beach which is well known for its giant sand dunes and great surfing, you can also go for a camel ride while you are there ,it's 30 mins to Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay which has several beautiful beaches and great restaurants. Next door is Oakvale Wildlife Park and close by is Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters and Go carts Go. A boat ramp to the Tilligerry river is 2.5 kms away which is a great area to fish and kayak . Popular bushwalking tracks are also nearby. Our local shops including a Bp foodworks, bakery, bottle shop, fruit and vege and Take away are 2.5 km away. Also close by is Murrays Brewery and Sunset Vines both with great food, wine, beer and weekend entertainment. We have a flushing toilet.Tank water is for onsite usage only and we ask that you are conservative with water usage. Electricity hook up is available within the campsite (bring an extension lead) BYO firewood and please be firesafe at all times Dogs are welcome, for the safety of others campers they must be kept on leash during your stay and please keep dogs away from all horses on the property. We do ask that you take all rubbish with you when you leave, we do supply a bin for recyclables such as bottles and cans only. We are in a rural area so there will be mozzies so bring your insect repellant. Please be respectful to other campers, no loud music at night.
