An easy 20 minute drive from the M1 (Pacific Motorway) Morisset exit, Wombat Flats Campsite is an exclusive, quiet and private camping area at the back of our 100 acres. We only book one group at a time so you will have the entire site and facilities all to yourselves! There is no traffic noise: all you will hear is the sound of the bush! The campsite borders Watagan National Park and guests can access the park directly through our back gate for bushwalking activities. Our farm itself includes walking trails, a dam and plenty of native wildlife, including birds, wombats, wallabies, echidnas and reptiles. We are devoted to horses and care for a diverse herd that includes some rescue brumbies and other beautiful equines you may meet on your walks.
The closest cafe (Bistro Eden, a popular spot for coffee and food) is 15 minutes drive, and the closest Coles/Woolworths is 20 minutes drive away at Morisset. The Hunter Valley is an easy 1 hour drive away, with many wineries and restaurants to choose from. Fishing activities in Dora Creek or Lake Macquarie (15 - 20 minutes drive) are a popular pastime, as are beaches activities (45 minutes drive away).

Nestled under the Watagan mountains escarpment in the Hunter valley, the property has some amazing views in all directions, but still remains secluded and hidden from view. The property has been selectively cleared to maintain a balance of open land and untouched bushland which has a boundary to the Watagans National Park.
The animal life is very diverse as many species transition from the Watagans into the property and many live on site full time. These include flocks of amazing bird species such as Gang gang and Black Cockatoos, resident Wedge tailed eagles, Kookaburras, finches, honey eaters, Coucals, Lyrebirds and more. Wallabies of various types are common, and Sugar gliders can be seen on the flowering Eucalypts.
The camping areas for RV's sit on a large elevated flat area that border a large gorge with broken views towards the Hunter Valley vineyards. The Gorge (or Canyon) is rimmed by caves and has rainforest type trees in the bottom. The caves can be explored and the rainforest can be walked if you are fit!
The tent and camper trailer areas are terraced into an area of slight slope with a number of sites to chose from. Non potable water taps are available at each caravan site and at intervals in the camping area. This water is clear fresh dam or bore water and can be used for showers, washing up etc. Two flush toilets are available for use by both RV's and campers. There is a central fire pit.
We have a private site which has open views over the Hunter Valley to the Vineyards and beyond to the Barrington tops. This site has a cliff edge pool that comfortably fits up to 4 people for a dip. This area has a large fire pit that can be used to heat the pool in winter.
This site has its own flushing toilet and Shower. This site is best suited to a caravan as it is terraced, though it would be possible to setup tents or a camper van in this location also. This can also be booked as a group site.
16minutes to Cessnock, 25minutes to the M1, 2.25 hours to Sydney central and 25 minutes to Pokolbin.
The location is generally very peaceful with all sorts of wildlife.
There is plenty of ground sticks for fire wood and bulk timber for purchase.

Ideal for those wanting to be surrounded by birds, nature and a couple of friendly doggos. Also great for people wanting to try out their new camper, van or tent for the 1st time as we are an easy 1 hour drive north of Sydney on the M1 and close enough to shops for those forgotten items.
Also we have unfenced dams and waterways, if you are camping with young children please consider carefully and let me know before booking.
We have very basic bathroom facilities of 1 flushing toilet in the shed and an outdoor warm shower.

Loved our 2 night stay at Bunyip. All sites were spaced out and most were hidden within the tree lines of the property. Lisa was extremely welcoming and provided useful information about the site, the local area and arranged firewood. Highly recommend Bunyip and planning a return visit soon.

We had a great stay at Bonneydoon! The views from the campsite were beautiful and our pup had a great time running around the paddock. It was a very beautiful spot and easy to access with a 2wd. There were some lovely bushwalks and dams on the property. The Big Sherman was our favourite and the 1000 year old fig tree was certainly impressive, although the trail was a bit up and down. Just keep an eye out for leeches, especially on your furry friends. The surrounding campsites weren't booked so we had plenty of space to ourselves which was nice, otherwise there isn't really anything separating them. The compost toilets and showers were fine. There were toilets close to the campsite, but the showers quite a walk so we ended up driving. Thanks Nick and Jane for sharing your beautiful property!

Totally awesome camping here. We were traveling in a campervan and were allocated a spot at the back of the property, in a private grassy space surrounded by trees/bush. I'm unable to comment about on-site shower/toilet as our campervan was self-contained. There is good separation between the campsites. Each site has a fire-pit (you can buy wood from Lisa or BYO). The serenity, the birds, the towering trees, the clear night skies all added to the magic of this place. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

We enjoyed a relaxing camping adventure with two families and younger kids. The grounds were spacious and very quiet off the main road. Large grassy area to camp on with a fire pit provided. Creek at the back and plenty of animals to spot. Other campers were all tucked far away in their own areas and couldn't be heard or seen. Close to drive to town for shops, coffee, kids playground and public swimming pool for hot days. The hosts were lovely and geniune who left you alone, and were always at thier house on the property if you needed help. Basic amenities with shared toilet, shower and town water supply. We brought our own power and solar.
We were with another family and their young kids for their first time camping too and both of us will be coming back for another adventure, perhaps with more family and friends who want to camp for the first time in a safe and quiet environment.

Nice and close to the M1, close to the town and a few breweries. Nice private spot, not close to other sites. Lisa and husband are very friendly and quick to respond. If you don’t have your own shower or toilet then I would only recommend a night or two here. We stayed one night to break up the drive and close to the M1 but the toilet and shower facilities is not something I’d want to use for more than a day.
