We looked for alternative ways of living 6 years ago so we purchased 220 acres to build an off grid camping/eco resort. The property consists of a straw bale house, Tipis, Cottages, 5 stars shared facilities (hot showers, flushing toilets - disable toilet ), outdoor kitchen (gas bbq, pizza oven, all kitchen utensils, pots ), solar system and worm farm septic system. The facilities of the camping are quite luxurious some guests labelling them "better than at home" so you can enjoy the bush experience & still have the comfort of a home. Here you can discover amazing wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, cockatoos, lyre birds and a lot of other birds (designated bird drinking stations through a WIRES program which has a lot of success.) Bring a camera and take in the incredible sights such as wildlife, cliffs, caves, and a magical view of Mount Yengo and Moruben from the top of the property. They are designated walking tracks around the property with all variable lengths & difficulties. Swimming pool, water hole to cool down in summer Pets friendly Access all-wheel drive Events possible Please enjoy some of the reviews our previous guests have left for us: "Wanderlust has a beautiful hidden valley and thanks for sharing with us. We bush walked and climbed mountains (it felt like it). Back at our camp; delicious dinner, some nice reds and a beautifully relaxing camp fire. A great little getaway. " - Michelle and Paul. "Great location, quiet and private, basic accommodation, plenty of space! Great for a group getaway!!" "Absolute gen of a property and such humble owners. Kamameja is 705 acres of mountainous wilderness located in the Upper Hunter region of NSW, near Jerrys Plains in a remote location with approximately 22 km of gravel Commission access road that winds through some stunning mountain ranges. Please note you need to pass through private property and national park to reach our location - shut all gates that you come through, respect national park rules and drive to conditions. We recommend accessing our property by 4wd only as the road is narrow, not regularly maintained and not suitable for large vehicles or caravans. The extensive trail network is available to ride or walk and are included in the camping fees. For the gravity junkies MTB shuttles can be booked as an extra on checkout and the timing of these need to be organized with the owners.

Our campsites are few and far between — just the way we like it. Each one is private, peaceful, and shaded by native gums. Wake to the sound of kookaburras laughing in the morning light. Watch wallabies, roos, and wombats graze at dusk. Let the crackle of your campfire be the only sound come nightfall. Here, we live simply. Solar power, rainwater tanks, and good old-fashioned bush smarts keep things ticking. No frills, no fuss — just real country hospitality in its rawest, richest form. If you’re after Wi-Fi and modern comforts, this might not be for you. But if you want to sit by a fire, share a yarn, and wake up to birdsong while sharing a cuppa — we’ll have a spot waiting. At the end of Upward Road, hidden in the folds of Yengo National Park, lies The Upward Place — a quiet, off-grid patch of paradise carved into our ancient land. Surrounded by sandstone ridges and wide skies, this humble, hardworking bush block invites campers to slow down and settle into the rhythm of the wild. And under construction is The Boree Bush Bakery, a micro bakery tucked into the heart of the property. On bake days, you’ll smell it before you see it — fresh sourdough, flaky pastries, and proper meat pies made with love (and a bit of bush magic). It’s an honest feed in an honest place.

Thanks for all your time and effort to make our weekend away so accommodating!"

Our site provides a perfect opportunity to step away from the rush of life, into a place where time slows, nature speaks, and the land welcomes you with open arms. Nestled in an open valley, within the ancient lands of the Darkinjung people- the traditional custodians of Yengo National Park, we offer the perfect space to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the land, yourself, and the rhythms of nature. As you walk through the valley, along ridges, and into the bushland, you follow paths walked for thousands of years. The land holds stories, wisdom, and energy that invite a deep sense of presence and respect. The valley teems with native wildlife. Wake to the calls of lyrebirds, watch wallabies grazing in the mist, and spot wombats burrowing at dusk. Birdwatchers will delight in the chance to see colourful parrots, majestic eagles, and other native species in their natural habitat. As night falls, the sky opens in all its brilliance, offering a breathtaking display of stars unspoiled by city lights. Sleep beneath the endless sky, wrapped in the sounds of the bush, and experience the deep peace that comes with being immersed in nature. Our place offers more than just an outdoor getaway, it invites you to slow down and embrace the landscape around you. Whether seeking solitude or shared experiences, there are countless ways to connect with this ancient land: • Bushwalking & Exploration – Wander along trails through the valley, ridges, and bush to experience Yengo’s diverse ecosystems. • Stillness & Reflection – Find a quiet spot to sit and simply be. Let the land guide you into a state of stillness, free from distractions and daily pressures. Listen to the wind, the birds, and the wisdom held in the land itself, or engage in meditation or journalling to deepen your connection with yourself and the environment. • Campfire Connection – As the sun sets, gather around the warmth of the fire. Share stories, listen to the crackling wood, and embrace the simplicity of conversation under the vast night sky. Please note the property is relatively remote, 30 minutes from Wollombi along an unsealed road.
