Suzy is an exceptional host making our welcome pleasant and knowledgeable of the property. Lucky for us we had pleasant weather wich aloud us to hang out at billabong the camp grounds exceptional, suzy is a great host we will have return at some time in future like summer.

This is a great camp spot and Jim is a great host! Great location as it is easily accessible and close to shops if you need. Campsites are very spread out and well maintained. Our site was completely private as it was tucked away in the back. Would highly recommend!

I loved our time here, it was quiet, private and very clean. The view was great. The hostess was extremely helpful and responds extremely quick. I would recommend this place to anyone who is wanting a quiet place to camp.

Had my birthday party on Suzy’s property and it was amazing. Suzy is such a wonderful host and made us feel super comfortable, provided tons of firewood, water and privacy. Her property is amazing (esp. for big groups) and we even saw a platypus at night! Will definitely be back some time - thanks Suzy!

Weekend Trip to Down by the Hawkesbury

Spent the weekend with my parents, brother and husband over the weekend and we had the best time! The gazebo was the best place to hang with the family and spend some quality time, we made good use of the pizza oven, fire place, fire pit & fridge! Everything was tidy and clean and Megan's communication through the days leading up to it was amazing! The place is private, however the neighbouring rental(?) spots is very quite close by and so on the first night, the neighbours who seem to have built in entertainment systems and speakers were playing music very loudly up until 1am which made it a pretty rough night for us. Also I may have missed this during the booking process, but there is also 4 dogs, which visit the site often :)

Bass Billabong is a stunning and tranquil campsite that truly feels like a hidden gem. The host, Suzy greeted us with warmth and kindness, setting the perfect tone for our stay. The place felt like something out of a Disney movie — graceful deer roaming freely, playful kangaroos hopping by, and a variety of colorful birds that kept us entertained throughout. We enjoyed a relaxing fishing too! We spent 2 nights here and loved every minute. We’re already looking forward to coming back for our next camping trip. Thank you so much, Suzy.

what a beautiful spot! we were lucky enough to have the property almost entirely to ourselves. nice and flat, beautiful views, lots of beautiful winter sunshine (considering it’s in a bit of a valley, it’s luckily north facing), plenty of space, and toni and her husband were absolutely lovely! we were happy to rent a fire pit and buy wood from them, they did everything with a cheery smile while respecting our privacy, and were super accomodating. highly recommend for a gorgeous, simple getaway :)

What an exceptional property. Cath was fantastic. Met us at the barn and escorted us to our site. First observations where wow. Things just got better from there. Flat spot for our van. The biggest fire pit I have seen, plenty of fire wood, a deck overlooking the dam, loads of water and an undercover area if weather turns bad. Very tidy and very secluded. We had the whole place to ourselves. Will be going back for sure. Cath has a few dogs which are loud and boisterous but friendly. One dog hung around and want to play with our dog but she wasn't interested so the dog left. Didn't see them again.

Fabulous weather and lovely private bush outlook set a great place for camping just south of Sydney. Great location for children to play in a safe natural setting. Commutation from Mel was first rate. Ideal for a mini break close to Madden Falls and Glenbernie orchard.

Great camping site, far enough from the hustle and bustle of Sydney but close enough to not to stay on your wheel for half of the day! Just by the Hawkesbury river, you can camp by the riverside as well. Fire-pit on every sites! Christine is very nice and welcoming too. Loved my stay and will be back again!

We loved our stay at Creeky Heights. It was peaceful and kid friendly. We camped in a tent and our friends bought their caravan. There were other sites visible on the property that were unoccupied, however; it was so spacious that even if there were other campers there you would still have privacy as they are so spread out! The porta loo was clean and not at all smelly. We definitely want to return. We had a great time- our kids and dogs did too! Thank you, Jim.

C Colo - just beautiful

Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts. The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today. Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

This campsite offers a unique heptagonal toilet (no shower yet but its on the way). Please ensure you're fully self sufficient with all other supplies (including water). From here you can explore the amazing Blue Mountain views, marvel at a magical glow worm dell, check out the 2 apple cider breweries and taste some of the region's delicious produce. Colo River is 30 mins away, a clear waterhole is 10 min drive ( 4wd only- hosts can transport if available), the mouth of a hiking trail to the National Park is on the property, the main township of Bilpin is close by with the baker, fruit and vege picking, Mountain Bells Cafe (host recommendation), apple pies galore and the restaurant , the markets are on Saturday morning 10-12 noon at the local hall and there is a free meditation group 9am Sunday at the monastery. With so much to do you will need more than one night or plan a return visit to the amazing Mountain Lagoon Hideaway at Bilpin! We can also offer massage and reiki treatments on site as a 'nature immersion' experience or if you prefer it can be in the privacy of a massage studio (10 mins away), guided nature and wildlife walks/sunset walks or longer hikes, professional ecology tours, fire twirling lessons or performance and African drumming lessons, games for the kids, local produce hampers, eggs and BBQS (with notice and if hosts are available). We have cleared grassy paddocks, some shady areas, and access to the Colo River, one of the most pristine rivers in NSW. Our river access is normally shallow, well suited to young families or those who just want to lay back and enjoy a quiet refreshing dip. Amazing sunrises, sunsets, and star gazing are provided free of charge along with bird watching, local wildlife, and horses in surrounding paddocks. We offer limited sites to comply with NSW Camping legislation and Hipcamp guidelines and to enable campers to experience the Colo as it should be, listening to the beautiful wildlife and really appreciating the outdoors. Sites are large spaces with varying distance between sites to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space. Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If you are planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m. (Saturday night 2 night minimum) Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, please check with Hosts prior to booking, as conditions and a charge applies. Otford is a historic village in a valley between Sydney and Wollongong, and bounded by the Pacific ocean. Our private acreage backs onto the southern tip of the Royal National Park, so the outlook from the campsite is all leafy trees. Walk to lookouts over the ocean, hike down to the beach or a few minutes drive to dog friendly beaches. Our bathroom and kitchen facilities make it an easy experience for first time campers. We are well-behaved-dog-friendly BUT you must let us know in advance. Our access track to the camping sites has been repaired with a deep layer of asphalt but still best suited to 4WD. The majority of standard 2WD cars manage the track fine There is also the option of parking roadside, and walking in approx 300m to the sites. Please message us if unsure about your vehicle. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ 1. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog/dogs - we have horses, house dogs, chickens and; wildlife plus likely other campers close by, so need to be forewarned. Dogs must be on lead or contained at all times. 2. If you need to camp out of your 4WD RV (such as a roof top tent), please contact me before booking to ensure those two particular vehicle sites are still available :) and that your vehicle is suitable for our track. We are 1.5 hrs from Sydney. On arrival you will feel the atmosphere of this wilderness area. Colo River Hut is located adjacent to the Colo River. A beautiful, unspoiled location on a pristine river. With it's own private beach and over 400 metres of riverfront. We are on the opposite side of river from the the Wollemi National Park. The hut sits (alone) within the eastern (10 acre paddock) of our property. There are no walls and so you have permanent views across the paddock to large sandstone cliffs and we are less than 30 metres from the riverbank. The Hut has a rustic tin roof, a large bench area with power points and task lighting. Tents or swags can be set up within the Colo River Hut. Or, if you wish, you can set up your tent or camper or small caravan adjacent to the Hut. There is plenty of room as there is a maximum of 8 guests (and 3 vehicles) with each booking. The Hut has a raised hardwood timber floor and enclosed composting toilet and hot/cold shower facilities. It also has ceiling fans for airflow and insect control. We provide a gorgeous shaded area under a large tree with valley views, with a large bbq table and chairs and fire pit (with grill) for your enjoyment. Firewood is also provided. Suitable for swimming, canoes, bikes, Bass fishing, and hiking, the Colo River Hut can be as active or relaxing as you wish. The Colo River Valley remains largely undiscovered, and is on the edge of the Wollemi wilderness. The Colo is fed by the Wolgan and Capertee Rivers. It has a long history and retains much of its' early unspoiled charm.

Campfires are allowed as long as there are no restrictions in place and they are supervised. Pets are welcome and can be off leash, however are the responsibility of their human parents. The property has ample room to accommodate larger groups that might want to hold milestone celebrations such as Birthday parties, whereby all sites will be closed to accommodate such events. Recently Calabash Haven hosted a party of 50 people for 50th Bday celebration. Feel free to inquire to see if we can accommodate your needs. The huge backyard previously hosted an annual gypsy festival to celebrate International Romani day. The backyard is really the highlight - from the moment you step into it you will feel like you have escaped into your own little paradise. The house itself has 3 bedrooms, with 1 bathroom inside and 1 bathroom outside. Inside the house, which can sleep up to 8 people. In addition to the main house, there are 3 hand-made gypsy style caravans on site. The largest (brown) caravan at the front of the property has a double bed and 2 small single beds - so can sleep up to 4 people. It is suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids. The smallest caravan (green) has 2 single beds in it - please note that these beds are narrower than a standard single bed - see photos. Bed linen and Towels are provided only for the main house occupants - you must bring your own linen and towels when staying in the caravans. The medium caravan (blue) is in the backyard and can be used as a cubby house/chill out area or workspace. The house itself has recently been renovated, with care taken to retain its gorgeous vintage fixtures and furniture. There are coloured stained glass windows and lighting pendants throughout the house. This is our family holiday house so we have set it up with everything that you and your family will need to feel comfortable and at home. It’s an absolute paradise for kids with the trampoline, jetty, gypsy cubby house, kayaks and fishing opportunities.
