River, stream, or creek glamping near Forresters Beach

The Colo Hut was a great spot , not too far from Sydney yet far enough to feel away from it all. The hot shower was an added bonus in the cold and having a sink was extremely convenient. The river is a few steps away from the site, we tried fishing but had no luck. The fire pit was great for cooking and keeping warm. Thanks Richard for sharing your property!

We enjoyed our weekend at Fern Vally Ranch! The kids had a great time. We will be back!

My son and I loved The Birdhouse! It was well laid out with everything we needed for our 2 night stay. The surroundings were beautiful and Stephanie was kind and accommodating - I’d definitely recommend!

This is a beautiful spot for a group to take full advantage of excellent amenities (including a spotless hot water shower and toilet) for a relaxing break. We had a bit of rain on our trip, and the large roofed-in deck made an excellent shelter for our tents to sit under. The river access is best in the afternoon (steep and muddy bank during morning high tide)

Jilla Campgrounds is a thoughtfully designed and well-managed campsite. The directions are easy to follow, and the facilities are clean and well-maintained. The glamping experience is perfect for young families who are new to camping and want to enjoy the outdoors without straying too far from their comfort zone. It's definitely a great spot for anyone looking to ease into the world of camping.

We had a beautiful long weekend at Colo river hut. The hut was a great place to have dinner and enjoy a shower. Great to have the whole place to ourselves and enjoy the beautiful sunsets over the field. The host provided firewood and was very helpful with directions and answered a couple of questions.

Plenty of camping space. Facilities were excellent. Cabins were very clean and cosy. Close to Wollombi if you require a coffee fix. Would have been great if we were able to access the creek . Overall a fantastic place for camping with friends and family.

I loved glamping at Jila flash camp! Great for family & couples too. My kids loved swimming in the lake! Got to appreciate the beauty of nature, would love to go back again!

We loved spending the Easter long weekend at Jila. Lovely big grassy and shady spots. Plenty of room. The Jila Easter Bunny (Phil) even thoughtfully dropped some Easter eggs at every camp. We will be back!

Blue Haven Gypsy Paradise

On the Central Coast just 1.5 hours from Sydney is this relaxing peaceful escape suitable for a few families or a group of friends. This place has a truly fascinating history. The huge backyard previously hosted an annual gypsy festival to celebrate International Romani day. The backyard is really the highlight - from the moment you step into it you will feel like you have escaped into your own little paradise. The house itself has 3 bedrooms, with 1 bathroom inside and 1 bathroom outside. Inside the house, which can sleep up to 8 people. In addition to the main house, there are 3 hand-made gypsy style caravans on site. The largest (brown) caravan at the front of the property has a double bed and 2 small single beds - so can sleep up to 4 people. It is suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids. The smallest caravan (green) has 2 single beds in it - please note that these beds are narrower than a standard single bed - see photos. Bed linen and Towels are provided only for the main house occupants - you must bring your own linen and towels when staying in the caravans. The medium caravan (blue) is in the backyard and can be used as a cubby house/chill out area or workspace. The house itself has recently been renovated, with care taken to retain its gorgeous vintage fixtures and furniture. There are coloured stained glass windows and lighting pendants throughout the house. This is our family holiday house so we have set it up with everything that you and your family will need to feel comfortable and at home. It’s an absolute paradise for kids with the trampoline, jetty, gypsy cubby house, kayaks and fishing opportunities. Mountain Lagoon Hideaway

Located at Bilpin, this beautiful campsite is nestled at the foot of the majestic Blue Mountains and backs onto Wollemi National Park. This magical 16 acres is abundant with wildlife and where you camp is the mouth to the beginning of some great hiking tracks in the National Park! There are a few great campsites to choose from- one at the top of the property (good for families/large groups up to approx 20) with good flat ground and surrounded by a lush forest. It's close to the road so it is easy access in and out, another two at the back with water views and one in the forest (If you have 4wd and portable loo we can give you an exclusive spot in the bottom of the golden gorge). Enjoy the sounds of the bubbling stream and see the sunset at the waterhole. Sit back and relax around the campfire whilst toasting a marshmallow or some damper. This campsite offers a unique heptagonal toilet (no shower yet but its on the way). Please ensure you're fully self sufficient with all other supplies (including water). From here you can explore the amazing Blue Mountain views, marvel at a magical glow worm dell, check out the 2 apple cider breweries and taste some of the region's delicious produce. Colo River is 30 mins away, a clear waterhole is 10 min drive ( 4wd only- hosts can transport if available), the mouth of a hiking trail to the National Park is on the property, the main township of Bilpin is close by with the baker, fruit and vege picking, Mountain Bells Cafe (host recommendation), apple pies galore and the restaurant , the markets are on Saturday morning 10-12 noon at the local hall and there is a free meditation group 9am Sunday at the monastery. With so much to do you will need more than one night or plan a return visit to the amazing Mountain Lagoon Hideaway at Bilpin! We can also offer massage and reiki treatments on site as a 'nature immersion' experience or if you prefer it can be in the privacy of a massage studio (10 mins away), guided nature and wildlife walks/sunset walks or longer hikes, professional ecology tours, fire twirling lessons or performance and African drumming lessons, games for the kids, local produce hampers, eggs and BBQS (with notice and if hosts are available). Please discuss with your hosts for further details and availability :) PLEASE ensure you read rules and safety as well as directions, because GPS will take you to the wrong property. The land is a nature retreat and developing animal rescue sanctuary so we love to share the space with respectful nature loving people :) Our motto is leave no trace. A spiral staircase leads guests high up a stringy bark tree, in the middle of a stunning piece of land in the Wollombi Village. The Birdhouse is a simply beautiful and unique, 12sqm retreat.Within the little space is a heater/cooler, refrigerator, kettle, TV/DVD player and comfortable pull-out sofa bed. The dining table can be folded down. The custom kitchen vanity holds the fridge, sink and a couple of drawers containing cutlery, crockery and a great DVD collection. Power sockets for charging devices, running water and a composting loo are all housed within the Birdhouse. The view from above is best enjoyed when perched on the directors chairs on the deck.Complimentary drinking water, tea/coffee, breakfast bars, fruit and chocolates are all provided.Wander 200m down the road to enjoy a number of local dining options, the renowned Wollombi Tavern and the shops and galleries within the historic Village.Guests will need to do without a shower for a night or two, or bring their own camping shower.

Colo River Hut

We are 1.5 hrs from Sydney. On arrival you will feel the atmosphere of this wilderness area. Colo River Hut is located adjacent to the Colo River. A beautiful, unspoiled location on a pristine river. With it's own private beach and over 400 metres of riverfront. We are on the opposite side of river from the the Wollemi National Park. The hut sits (alone) within the eastern (10 acre paddock) of our property. There are no walls and so you have permanent views across the paddock to large sandstone cliffs and we are less than 30 metres from the riverbank. The Hut has a rustic tin roof, a large bench area with power points and task lighting. Tents or swags can be set up within the Colo River Hut. Or, if you wish, you can set up your tent or camper or small caravan adjacent to the Hut. There is plenty of room as there is a maximum of 8 guests (and 3 vehicles) with each booking. The Hut has a raised hardwood timber floor and enclosed composting toilet and hot/cold shower facilities. It also has ceiling fans for airflow and insect control. We provide a gorgeous shaded area under a large tree with valley views, with a large bbq table and chairs and fire pit (with grill) for your enjoyment. Firewood is also provided. Suitable for swimming, canoes, bikes, Bass fishing, and hiking, the Colo River Hut can be as active or relaxing as you wish. The Colo River Valley remains largely undiscovered, and is on the edge of the Wollemi wilderness. The Colo is fed by the Wolgan and Capertee Rivers. It has a long history and retains much of its' early unspoiled charm.
