Located only 8 minutes drive from the historical town of Stroud which was settled by the AA Company in the 1820's as a food growing area. There are still many beautiful buildings from that period to explore.
A dairy farm for many years, we switched over to beef around 15 years ago. Currently we run around 120 head of Angus and mixed breed cattle.
Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway!
We are offering 6 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river.
There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing.
All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township)

Our farm is located on the beautiful Karuah River in the picturesque Monkerai valley. The river is a fresh mountain river running from the foothills of Barrington Tops.
We only offer 5 sites across our 300 acre property giving you absolute privacy and a sense of serenity
We were very pleased to have been recognised by Hipcamp as being one of the top 20 Hipcamp locations in NSW for 2022.
Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming canoeing floating on airbeds fishing photography or just enjoying. There is also some really nice bike riding and walking opportunities around the valley although you will be on gravel roads and we are only 25 min drive from the popular Dungog mountain bike park.
You are likely to see a variety of birdlife other wildlife including black and white cockatoos ducks some lizards, occasionally wallabies, echidnas and if you are lucky a Platypus or two. We are fortunate to see platypus in the river frequently which is a sign of just how pristine the water running down from the mountains really is.
You will have your campsite completely to yourself with no other camper near you. Privacy, tranquillity, relaxation and just enjoying nature is waiting for you. Be sure to bring your telescope as you’ll be amazed at the stargazing at night with no light pollution.
With some lovely Spring rain the river is running beautifully and is great for a swim, fish or canoe. Swimming, canoeing and running the rapids on surf mats is always popular at our property and as long as the river is it normal levels and a lot of fun. However, we always highly recommend people wear some form of footwear in the river such as rafting sandals or old joggers or similar as the rocks are very hard on your feet and there’s a particular nasty little fish called a “Bullrout” that whilst rare can infect a nasty sting if you tread on one. No need to be overly concerned but be mindful.
Our property is ideal for self-contained vans, camper trailers, medium motor homes, tents or swags, it’s up to you. There are no toilets so only suitable if you have your own toilet facilities and take away all waste when you leave. All toilet waste, leaving our property is very important and an absolutely essential requirement for all visitors. Public waste dump points are at Stroud, Dungog and Gloucester.
Gloucester Dungog and historic Stroud village are nearby as well as Barrington Tops World Heritage wilderness area and national park.
This is an operating farm and therefore farming activities such as cattle droving, fencing, grass cutting or hay making may occasionally be occurring somewhere near your site but we would always let you know. We are sure you will enjoy our farm far more than a crowded traditional caravan park or campgrounds.
We do have some limited bags of firewood for sale at $20 a bag most of the year. These are heavy bags of very dry local Hardwood. You can also collect firewood along the riverbanks yourself or bring your own firewood for a campfire (subject to any fire restrictions) if that is easier and more convenient for you.
When you make a reservation at the property we will always endeavour to put you in your preferred location as best we can. However if we are impacted by adverse weather or need to run cattle on certain parts of the farm then we may need to make a change to the actual site you are in and trust you understand.

Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming, fishing, photography or just enjoying. Wedgetail Eagles, Black Cockatoos, Black Shouldered Kites, Kookaburras and Butcher Birds life in the area. As do kangaroos, possums and echidnas. Our night skies are very clear, no pollution here!
All of our campsites are perfect for having a campfire (fire season dependent).

Hayden and Ash live on-site and will guide you to your spot whether riverside or hilltop. They’ll give you the farm rundown, share local tips, and help you feel right at home.

We were very pleased to have been recognised by Hipcamp as being one of the top 20 Hipcamp locations in NSW for 2022.
Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming canoeing floating on airbeds fishing photography or just enjoying. There is also some really nice bike riding and walking opportunities around the valley although you will be on gravel roads and we are only 25 min drive from the popular Dungog mountain bike park.
You are likely to see a variety of birdlife other wildlife including black and white cockatoos ducks some lizards, occasionally wallabies, echidnas and if you are lucky a Platypus or two. We are fortunate to see platypus in the river frequently which is a sign of just how pristine the water running down from the mountains really is.
You will have your campsite completely to yourself with no other camper near you. Privacy, tranquillity, relaxation and just enjoying nature is waiting for you. Be sure to bring your telescope as you’ll be amazed at the stargazing at night with no light pollution.
With some lovely Spring rain the river is running beautifully and is great for a swim, fish or canoe. Swimming, canoeing and running the rapids on surf mats is always popular at our property and as long as the river is it normal levels and a lot of fun. However, we always highly recommend people wear some form of footwear in the river such as rafting sandals or old joggers or similar as the rocks are very hard on your feet and there’s a particular nasty little fish called a “Bullrout” that whilst rare can infect a nasty sting if you tread on one. No need to be overly concerned but be mindful.
Our property is ideal for self-contained vans, camper trailers, medium motor homes, tents or swags, it’s up to you. There are no toilets so only suitable if you have your own toilet facilities and take away all waste when you leave. All toilet waste, leaving our property is very important and an absolutely essential requirement for all visitors. Public waste dump points are at Stroud, Dungog and Gloucester.
Gloucester Dungog and historic Stroud village are nearby as well as Barrington Tops World Heritage wilderness area and national park.
This is an operating farm and therefore farming activities such as cattle droving, fencing, grass cutting or hay making may occasionally be occurring somewhere near your site but we would always let you know. We are sure you will enjoy our farm far more than a crowded traditional caravan park or campgrounds.
We do have some limited bags of firewood for sale at $20 a bag most of the year. These are heavy bags of very dry local Hardwood. You can also collect firewood along the riverbanks yourself or bring your own firewood for a campfire (subject to any fire restrictions) if that is easier and more convenient for you.
When you make a reservation at the property we will always endeavour to put you in your preferred location as best we can. However if we are impacted by adverse weather or need to run cattle on certain parts of the farm then we may need to make a change to the actual site you are in and trust you understand.

The Farm 765 is a privately owned riverfront property located in Millers Forest NSW on the Hunter River. Enjoy a night, weekend or extended stay on our peaceful and relaxing riverfront property. Choose from one of our 4 sites on the property to set up along the river with access to your own boat ramp and jetty to fish from. Bring your boat and launch it from our boat ramp and head into Newcastle or Morpeth. The Hunter River adjoins the Williams River for those who enjoy water skiing or wakeboarding. We are only a 10 minute drive to Morpeth, Raymond Terrace or Maitland or a 25 minute drive into the heart of Newcastle. Bring your Caravan or camper trailer and enjoy being on the river. No tents or swags permitted. Powered or non powered sites available. All campers need to be self-sufficient, with their own camp toilet and we kindly ask you to take all your waste when you go. This is a working farm and please be mindful that we have cows and chickens on the property accompanied by 3 friendly kelpies that roam our property.

Callicoma Hill offers bush camping for groups in a forest clearing, an off-grid 10 bed rustic bunkhouse and an off-grid self-contained 3 bedroom eco-cabin in the forested mountains at Mount Royal, on the edge of the Barrington wilderness in the Hunter Valley of NSW.
We also occasionally offer a camping site in our front paddock with a spectacular 80km view over the Hunter Valley.
It is an ideal off-grid bush getaway for families and groups, offering peace and quiet, a mountainside of forest, enviable views and sunsets across the Hunter Valley and fresh mountain air. Most importantly, guests have exclusive use of our property in each area, so you don't have to share with other visitors.
We are near Mount Royal National Park, adjoining the Barrington Tops wilderness area. The area is part of the World Heritage listed Gondwana Rainforest Reserves, a place of great scenic beauty and natural diversity. Best of all, it is quiet and away from the crowds.
Whether you want an easy walk in nature and peace, an adventurous climb to see a breathtaking view, or are in training for an epic multi-day walk, Mount Royal National Park provides excellent bushwalking opportunities.
Or, you can simply stay at camp and sit and relax!

Very good directions to the property with photos showing landmarks. Reasonably flat grassy area next to the water with stunning outlook over the river. The property managers Hayden & Ash were extremely helpful. The only negative was the high cost of the campsite compared to other very similar Hipcamps I have stayed at, especially as a solo camper.

An absolute gem! Riverside camping at its best. Our camper trailer was perfectly positioned in a great spot with easy access to the river. The sound of the rapids at night was something to behold. The whole property is well maintained and is easy to find. Hosts are welcoming and helpful. Looking forward to some winter camping with a nice warm fire. Fishing is great as well!

Lovely large campsite, we had a 13ft hybrid van and a camper trailer, best of both worlds plenty of sun for the solar and beautiful large shade trees to sit under. Heaps of room for the kids to ride their bikes, right on the river. Just a perfect spot. Jo (our host) was so lovely we will definitely be back.

Willowbank was a relaxing overnight break with my dog. Well maintained site on the banks of Karuah River, overlooking their beautiful farm landscape. The hosts are great. The only thing to mention is you can hear road noise most of the night from The Bucketts Way, however the flowing river sounds ensure it doesn’t ruin the overall experience.

It's just beautiful. We had the space for all ourselves. You can walk to the vineyard for wine tasting and lunch. Just beautiful. We would have loved to see the rubbish lying around to be removed. But other than that it was great.
