If you want to avoid the crowds our property is only 10 minutes drive to great local surf and fishing beaches at Crescent Head. There is an abundance of bird life, the odd kangaroos and wallabies, and other wildlife. There is a melaleuca forest that children are welcome to play in and build a cubby house, and 2 pretty little dams to catch yabbies, and for dogs to enjoy a swim. The property where camping is provided is approx 20 acres with a limit of 10 groups so you can find your own little piece of paradise. There is plenty of fire wood for you to collect on the property on your way in. Please help yourself to any fallen timber for firewood but please do not cut any standing trees down. When checking out, ensure you properly extinguish fires and return any unused firewood to the bush. Dogs are welcome to be here off leash as long as they are well socialised and reasonably obedient. There is large areas for them to run freely and dams to swim in. It is accessible via a 2WD dirt road, even with a little wet weather. If rainfall is extreme we recommend 4wd's. The property is completely off grid so we have a 'leave it as you found it' approach. This means you will need a camp toilet, and to take all of your rubbish with you. We are not directly on the beach and do not have beach access. Racecourse Beach is a great spot for surfing, fishing and swimming. All you need to do is find one of our intimate sites for you to pitch a tent or pull up with the camper van. THERE ARE NO AMENITIES SO YOU MUST BE FULLY SELF CONTAINED AND LEAVE NO TRACE. Fires are allowed, but must be contained in an off ground fire pit brought by camper. Didn’t have time to do the farm tour, but just setting up metres away from the river was enough. short walk or drive to the river access point, communal kayaks and boogie boards were an amazing touch. River water was a good temperature, a very picturesque creek and some incredible birdlife. Rick and Cheryl were both very friendly and reachable but not overbearing. Thanks for having us!

What an amazing camp site. The sites are large, there are a few powered sites but mostly unpowered. Cheryl and Rick were fantastic hosts. The river is stunning and they provide plenty of kayaks free of charge for you to use. The drop toilets are in impeccable condition. They provide farm tours for the kids to pat and feed animals, and their daughter sells fresh baked treats every afternoon to curb the sweet cravings. The camp site is only 30 minutes from Port Macquarie so very accessible. We will definately be back.

Great relaxing spot by the river. Easy to find. Beautiful breeze. Kangaroos in the paddock. Greeting by our hosts on arrival. They supplied a fire pit and a bag of fire wood for $20.00. Can top up with bore water if needed. Great location to come and go from to explore the area. We felt safe staying there and leaving our camp set up while we explored through the day. Nice relaxing few days 👏☀️

We love the Herring Estate. It was our first time experiencing the off grid stay with RV / MotorHome. Such a lovely view on site 1, we went into the lower site on late arvo coz the wind was quite strong. The kids love nature and they gathered some firewoods that were already in the area and we lit a fire using the contained fire pit we found in the area. They had a wonderful time for the first night of our camping. Thanks for sharing your beautiful estate.

This farm was just beautiful! Cheryl and Rick were so friendly, and were happy to just chat 😊 The kids got to feed the farm animals, which they loved. Drop toilets were clean and there was filtered water straight from the river. The campsites were maintained and site numbers easily visible. There are kayaks and body boards avaliable for use on the river. We cant wait to return 😊😊

2 nights at Minimbah Fishing Lodge

This hidden little gem is definitely a place we look forward to coming back to. For us, it was a last minute decision after we decided to pull up stumps at our other camping spot so we had no idea what to expect. Nice flat area for our caravan and it was dog friendly! My only disappointment was that we didn’t have enough time to enjoy all the fishing opportunities.

4 nights at Herring Estate - Panoramic Views

Stayed 4 nights in area 3 at the back of the property for more privacy and shade, even f it meant missing out on the great view from the hill. Best thing about this property is its location, being close to all the awesome beaches Barrington coast has to offer. Heaps of firewood was a bonus. Highly recommended.

Great hospitality with a friendly greeting from the start. Great relaxing stay with a good size plot to set up the camper trailer and not be in each others pockets. Live fish jumping show in the creek provided some amusement with trying to capture visual of what it was. Close to the seafood restaurant on the river for a good feed also. Highly recommended.
