Once a much larger property, we purchased our 120-acre (50-hectare) in 1984 as a means to live sustainably and raise a family. Living in our shed whilst we prepared the garden, installed watering infrastructure, and built our house, which we finally moved into when our daughter was 6 months old in 1990. Over the ensuing years, we have continued to increase biodiversity on the property and set it up so we can live sustainably, harvesting our own water, electricity, and food. If you're lucky, you could get a hamper of our product when there is sufficient in season. With the increased biodiversity, you will find that in the mornings and evenings, kangaroos and wallabies will visit with the occasional echidna, rabbi,t and hare; and to forget the large array of bird life - that may wake you early in the morning with the songs. This campsite is set on lovely grassy open areas interspersed with gum trees. The sunrise looks spectacular near the dam, when the trees give off a lovely glow. The main paddock has a Geodome, a shared space for relaxing in. With all that space, you can park and set up camp anywhere in the paddock. There is access to drinking water, toilets, and a hot shower. Around the dome is a fire pit, drinking water, and a camp kitchen. The fire pit features an Argentinian BBQ and a plate for cooking. The kitchen has plates, cups, cutlery, and other bits and pieces for you to use. We also allow your pets to stay on-site; this includes horses. I loved camping at Bahwidgee! It’s so well maintained and right on the river. Wayne is an incredibly friendly host and his farm is beautiful. Only a short 3-4km walk into town (Tumut) and there’s a lovely river walk there too. Would definitely recommend and we will be back for sure.

Bahwidgee is an excellent spot, so beautiful being able to camp right by the river. The location was easy to find with the clear instructions provided. We saw a platypus in the river whilst we had breakfast in the morning.

The directions were clear, had the best time kicking back, Wayne you have a beautiful property and the cattle were a highlight especially the cows chasing a kangaroo from paddock to paddock, saw a mumma possum with a baby on her back at night. Would highly recommend this beautiful place. Day of leaving got a nice 30cm brown trout at 7am. Cooked it up for lunch. Thankyou Wayne for your hospitality. Definetly will book here again

Just stayed for one night, but want an awesome property. I had the place to myself , but there were a number of site options for me. I took “The Ridge” as it gave the most amazing view. Craig and Liz were great hosts, getting me in the correct driveway, showing me the amenities, and taking me down the property to the sites. The Valley views were amazing and the stars at night were so clear. I was fortunate ate to have such a clear night. Check was fine as I used the amenities after I packed up, and Craig and Liz came to check if all was good. Amazing property and awesome hosts. Highly reccomend

We had a magnificent weekend at the shack. so quiet, relaxing. A perfect bush refuge. the bird life was astounding and we were visited by the local platypus.

Tricia and Rainer want to share their beautiful farm and it shows in the way they try to make everyone’s stay a little bit special. Plenty of space to set up and private because you’re not right next to other groups. We had a large pile of fire wood waiting for us, which lasted the whole weekend. Friendly farm animals occasionally made a visit. A wonderfully peaceful and relaxing trip.

Weekend Trip to The Yurtfarm

Had the most wonderful weekend at the yurt village! Also had booked the teachers hut for some friends without camping gear, the location is perfect. The views and activities are fabulous, the host Mike was very courteous and even came and dropped some golf clubs down for us. Peaceful, vast, great history and it’s awesome to have a covered area to cook/hang out from the weather if needed. Will 1000% visit again!
