Spirit of the Forest is one of the oldest properties in the area. Many years ago it was an old dairy farm, but it has been through many transitions since then.... uniquely situated only a few kms. from the majestic "Grandis" tree it has an abundance of wildlife close by, wallabies come out to feed on the pasture at dusk and dawn, mighty eagles soar overhead and beautiful Arabian horses run free in the paddocks. Trevor and Maya moved here from Berry NSW 17 years ago. Trevor is an internationally acclaimed entertainer and horse whisperer and Maya is an artist, author and lecturer. Both found the property a haven from their busy schedule of performing overseas. A unique 70 acre Arabian horse property, surrounded by Myall Lakes National Park 4 kms from "The Grandis" the tallest tree in NSW and 10 kms from Bulahdelah Town also near to beautiful North Coast beaches. There are many beautiful areas to choose from to camp, as well as a cabin.

  • Review summary

    Generated from real Hipcamper reviews

Trevor's campsite offers a truly welcoming atmosphere, with visitors consistently praising his hospitality and the tranquil setting. Guests enjoyed the spacious sites, clean facilities, and the unique opportunity to engage with Trevor's storytelling and musical talents. Wildlife sightings, such as kangaroos and wallabies, add to the natural charm of the location. While it's important to note the lack of certain amenities like showers, the overall experience is enriched by the serene environment and Trevor's warmth.

We had a really good stay here. The place is very peaceful, with tall trees all around and plenty of space between campsites, so you get a lot of privacy. We loved hearing the birds in the morning and evening. Trevor was very helpful and came by a few times to check if everything was okay or if we needed anything. The only thing to keep in mind is that there are no flush toilets, only chemical toilets. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here.

Trevor was a great host. The campsites were generously spaced out, we had a spot next to a dam that came alive with the sound of frogs and crickets at night, birdsong in the morning (I counted over 40 species) and a field of horses and foal during the day. To top it off Trevor put on a show at night, singing cover songs, originals and telling poems and stores. It was a fantastic experience which I'd highly recommend.

    Recommends

Site was as advertised, and Trevor is a very friendly / accomodating host. Does a good job of maintaining good spacing between parties, despite there being several groups there, we didn’t disturb each other at all.

Extras

  • Trevor Knight in Concert AU$30.00 per personOn Saturday 5th September, I’m opening the doors of our old converted milking shed here at Boolambayte for a very intimate concert — Songs from the Shed. There’ll only be 25 seats, a couple of guitars, perhaps a banjo, and me telling the stories behind some of the songs I’ve written and collected over a lifetime of travelling, performing and having adventures. Some are funny, some are moving, some are about extraordinary people and horses I’ve known, and some are simply stories that I think are worth telling. No big stage, no flashing lights… just songs, stories and good company on our property in the middle of a National Park. (Overnight camping available) Saturday 5th September 2026 Doors open 6.30pm — Show 7.00pm Boolambayte NSW Tickets $30 per person As there are only 25 seats, bookings are essential. 📞 0414 903 237 ✉️ trevorknightguitar@gmail.com I’d love to see you there.
