Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

Redwood Camp offers privacy and serenity in and around our spectacular redwood groves alongside Salmon Creek, home of collaborative efforts to restore native Coho Salmon to the area. There is direct access to the creek as well as miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows in the tranquility of our private forest. The campsites are set along the edge of a meadow beside the creek, and are sheltered from coastal winds, offering soul-restoring solitude and quiet. Redwood #1, situated within a towering stand of redwoods, can accommodate larger groups. Site #2 is set right by the creek and backed into a stand of redwoods. Each spot is limited to 8 people including children. Four campers are included in the listed price, with an additional fee of $15 per additional person per night. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring (with grill) and access to a port-a-potty. Bring your own potable water and be prepared to take away your trash. Well-behaved pets are welcome, although please keep them away from our working dogs that are guarding livestock within our pastures. This private camp offers direct access to the many miles of hiking trails on the ranch. By heading uphill through the redwood, fir and bay laurel forest to the open uplands, you will be able to view the hundreds of acres of natural pasture lands of the ranch (with our ducks, goats and Scottish Highland cattle) and a view of the sea. Sunsets can be spectacular. Returning downhill, you will end up at the creek and your own camp. If you prefer a less strenuous trek, try the path that meanders for miles alongside the creek, through more meadows and into an enchanted canyon. Four Wheel Drive tours of the ranch and forest are available by arrangement at an additional cost, enabling visitors to see the most scenic, remote and hilly areas of the property. You can have all this without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. Whether it's sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. If you want a private creek side camp, complete with redwoods, that is a hundred times more quiet and secluded than any public or Forest Service campground, check us out! Early check-in and late checkout can be arranged, if your site is available. Be sure to stop by our rustic "Mercantile" on-farm store that has a selection of our ranch products (including meats, organic duck eggs and other items). You can select what you would like to barbeque at your camp spot or take home, and leave payment in the form of cash, check or credit card as you choose. No arrivals after dark. There are no lights at the sites and it gets dark earlier than you think. Once you book a site, we'll send you an email with additional information about the camping, a trail map, ranch tour options and directions for finding your spot. It offers privacy and serenity next to Salmon Creek on a 400 acre working ranch with livestock, pasture, forest and miles of hiking trails. Our Creekside Camp offers secluded tranquility on the banks of Salmon Creek, home of collaborative efforts to restore native Coho Salmon. During the warmer months, this private camp (REACHED VIA SALMON CREEK ROAD, NOT OUR MAIN RANCH ENTRANCE ON BAY HILL ROAD) offers access to the entire ranch and hiking trails by crossing the creek -- bring rubber boots as there is usually still a few inches of water in the crossing. After crossing the creek by foot and heading uphill through the redwood, fir and bay laurel forest to the open uplands, you will be able to view the hundreds of acres of natural pasture lands of the ranch (with our ducks, goats and Scottish Highland cattle). The Eagle's Nest Treehouse offers a secluded and tranquil experience in the middle of a private forest. On some nights, you can see all the stars since the lights of civilization are so far away. And when the wind blows a certain way, you can hear distant fog horns and waves crashing on the spectacular Sonoma coast. Located on a 400-acre working ranch, we are near San Francisco, California's premier wine-growing regions and some of California's most breathtaking seascapes. During the day, you can hike our miles of forest trails and never run into another person. You can check out the flora and fauna residing among the ferns, redwood trees and rolling pasture lands and then roast some of our ranch products, all grown right here, over the barbecue located at ground level. You can also explore the ranch operation, which includes Scottish Highland cattle, goats, ducks, geese and the livestock guardian dogs who protect them all. If you like a really hands-on experience, you can help us herd the ducks in at night or come along in the UTV to help with evening chores. Think seclusion, privacy, peacefulness and nature. Securely nestled high above the forest floor between two towering Douglas Firs, the large redwood deck of the Eagle’s Nest is accessed via a spiral staircase and a 40 ft suspension bridge. Once inside, the rich grain of the old growth redwood floor, walls and ceiling is astounding. Residential standards of construction throughout include two sets of 8 ft high French doors, sliding windows, a queen size bed, electricity for lights, separate bathroom, hot and cold water, sink, and an amazing copper-lined shower with floor to ceiling windows looking out on the forest below. A heater and the insulated walls, floor and ceiling keep the interior cozy.

It is a very large piece of property, well off the beaten path. It is like you were transported into a rainforest in South America, with lush plants all around you. If you’re looking to relax, and get back to nature, this is the place to be.

What an impressive listing. Truly a magical experience! We unfortunately only stayed 1 night due to travel dates, but it was gorgeous. Directions were clear & helpful, and John was super quick to respond. When we arrived, John was there to greet us and led us to treehouse to show us the ropes. He was genuine and friendly, which was comforting. Waking up in the morning was like waking up as a creature in a tree. It was raining which added to the excitement. It was enchanting, peaceful, dreamy, & beautiful. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and our dog had a blast exploring the surrounding forest. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique experience!! Amazing Redwood Camp on the Ranch

10/10 loved our stay and we’d definitely return. we camped in Redwood Camp #1, which is tucked in a deep dark redwood grove in the edge of a meadow and creek. Other camp sites were a good distance away. There was a very clean porta-potty nearby. We ordered steaks and eggs from the ranch market place and they were amazing.

Beautiful location away from the chaos. Camp sites aren’t too close together so you feel much more secluded than you would be at other camp grounds. We’ll be back!

2nd time staying here and my first time at Redwood Camp #2. Farm shop was awesome as always. Suggest buying your firewood from them ahead of time. Note that it's mostly softwood, so it might be wise to order extra. Site #2 was cool and I think I would have preferred #1 or #3 for the next trip.

Overall, the hosts were very accommodating. Their listing and/or instructions need to be changed to include that fact that even if you have a 4wd vehicle, you need a high clearance to drive down to the campsites. Luckily their vehicle was available to rent for a nominal fee and we appreciate that. The campsite however, was not the one we expected according to the pictures on Hipcamp. It looks like the photo of the site is the campsite next to ours. We expected a different experience. The site was quite wet due to the moisture in the air and it being on grass so it was muddy and our feet were wet. We thought it was in amongst the redwood grove. The porta -pody was very clean.

Great spot! Loved it, though other camps are just as nice for lower price. Creekside #1 & 2 are separated by a lovely redwood grove. Both are close to the road, but nobody drove between dusk and 7:30am. The creek itself is lovely, we spent much of the day in the cool shade skipping rocks.

We absolutely loved our stay at Salmon Creek Ranch. The property is stunningly beautiful, and it felt like there was a new hidden gem to discover around every corner. The Redwood #1 campsite feels nice and private, and the grove of redwood trees block the chilly night breeze, and I imagine would keep you nice and cool in the warmer summer months. We highly recommend and would love to return some day.

Absolutely, beautiful place to camp. Really nice porta potty. The creek was full and close by which was lovely. Went up to the Mercantile shop. It’s stocked with all sorts of great things like duck eggs, and frozen meats. Really can’t wait to go back. We stayed at Creekside number one, which was fantastic, but I’m excited to try the redwood campsites next

The Eagles Nest and Salmon Creek Ranch are absolutely magical!! If you get the opportunity to visit and stay please do so!! We stayed for two nights our time was a fairy tale! From our walks in the forest to the river, having lunch in the pasture hanging with the highland cows, eating the delicious meat at there little store and staying in the trees! It was all absolute perfection! John and Lesley are fabulous hosts and the entire experience was incredible! We will be back many more times!!!

Eagle's Nest Treehouse Farmstay

We stayed a night but wish we could have stayed longer. The treehouse is as nice as it photographs. We spent most of our time on the farm — hiked a little loop, saw SO MANY NEWTS. Very cute newts. When we arrived, John and a gathering of goats greeted us. They kindly showed us around. Don’t forget to swing by the farm store. We picked up duck eggs and a goose foot dog treat for our friend’s pup.

Magical Tree House!

What an amazing and unique experience! We enjoyed being cozy in the comfortable bed and listening to the rain. The interior of the tree house is lovely and open to tree views all around. The drive through the farm was a delight with highland cows, ducks, puppies, and a goat traffic jam. I would love to stay again!

Beautiful campsite. We stayed at Redwood #1 and it was very shady and secluded. We were able to see other camp sites and campers in the distance but it was spacious and clean. Would recommend!

We are so excited to find this gem. We stayed at campsite three and would highly recommend it. The add-ons were a great bonus. We have a campervan, but the tent platform overlooking the creek looked great. The fire pit had a rake, a shovel, and a fire extinguisher, which is great if you are new to campfires. We will definitely be back.

A couple of things to note: 1 - the redwood grove campsites ABSOLUTELY require a 4WD or AWD. there is a very bumping/steep road that descends down into the meadow. 2 - the creekside campsites are essentially just parking areas for an RV. we were so lucky that the creek was low so we were able to cross by foot and enjoy the rest of the property on the other side. 3 - don't skip the redwood walking trails on the property!! super beautiful and green area. lots of banana slugs and newts to spot. bonus activity: spot the laurel bay leaf trees! 4 - there is a LOT of poison ivy around the creekside camping sites. make sure your party knows what it looks like, bring cortisone as backup, and do your best to avoid brushing against the edge of the campsite! (worst case, soap and water will help)
