Crabbing and fishing are centralized in Winchester Bay, about 10 minutes away. You are also located very near the mouth of the mighty Umpqua River, one of the best salmon fisheries in the state. Easy access to the coastal dunes is available up and down HWY 101 both North and South. Winchester Bay offers the closest entrance to the dunes where you can ride atvs and 4x4s and permits can be purchased in town. Stunning options for hiking, biking and mushroom hunting surround you here on the central Oregon Coast. With rainforest on one side of HWY 101 and coastal dunes on the other, there are many opportunities to explore different types of forested areas and trails. Wildlife enthusiasts are just minutes away from the Dean Creek Elk Viewing wildlife recreational area on HWY 38. This large herd can be seen daily grazing in the meadows.

Our piece of heaven… We have 200 acres of timber cozied up to Siltcoos Lake. Siltcoos Lake is approximately 3500 acres and warm enough to swim in! Your campsite is 10 private acres surrounded by the rest of our 200 acres. You are welcome to hike, bike, forage, and enjoy the whole 200 acre forest. Your 10 acre campsite is private for you and your guests. So let your pets off the leash, laugh, play music, have fun! A very nice campout in the middle of a winery vineyard. Our host Kristie was very nice and helpful and gave us lots of information on the history of the winery. The site where we parked our 25 foot RV trailer. A nice covered picnic table area. Full hookups were at our disposal. Very quiet and peaceful area. We were parked next to the duck pond and heard them doing their thing and they sometimes came on land to pay a visit. Visited the wine tasting room and purchased a couple bottles. The vineyard was at our complete usage. We walked around quite a bit of it, talked to some grape pickers and saw the area where they make the wine. A nice tour of the area. Many thanks for everything. Highly recommended Hipcamp.

We arrived around 7 on a Friday due to heavy traffic. Quick check in, we had reserved site 5 but they had several vacancies and suggested a better spot, so we took 14 instead. It was lovely! Up a small hill to the river, where we played fisher people and caught an orange leaf. Dog chased ball in the field, bathroom facilities are decent. It’s a scenic 30-40 minute drive into town.

Absolutely wonderful experience Great scenery, clean water, wonderful location, away from everyone. They have grill without propane so bring your own. A fire pit, pool floats for the lake. Extra chairs and bathroom on sight. I could not say enough wonderful things about this place.

This was probably our favorite Hipcamp spot of over a dozen we've stayed at in several states. Convenient to Florence and the dunes (10-15 mins), with a long dirt road down to the spot, but our 2WD van handled it fine. Extremely private, perfect for letting our dog explore and swim off-leash without worries, tons of space to relax and explore (including miles of trails through the forest), and great amenities included (incredible fire pit area, small kayak, portapotty and more). Certainly worth the price, and can't wait to come back! In a completely separate class from the vast majority of hipcamps.

The camp is exactly what they say it is: Primitive. Not dry camping, tho. Flush toilets and showers are located near the entrance, and appear to be near new construction and are kept clean and stocked. Individual sites are rather large. Water spigots are located around the park. The price per night is fair. We enjoyed the ripe blackberries that were in season and many of the sites are right on the Smith River. With only one location for showers and toilets near the entrance, it can be a hike to get to them from the far end. Maybe 200 yards from the furthest sites, so pay attention to the map. It seems only certain sites are available on HipCamp, as only 8 or so were listed as available to us, but there were many, many more vacancies during our stay. A few pull thru's are available. The site competes with two BLM free, first come, first serve dry campsites that seem to draw more campers. But, the showers, flush toilets and water for us tent campers was worth the price. The camp host, who was not Jared, was very friendly and helpful. We both agreed it the right choice for us, and would stay there again.

What a magical place. Right on the lake. The Hosts were so kind and offered me the opportunity to arrive early when I was evacuated when the Oregon Coast had a tsunami warning. We kayaked, we swam, we cooked, we cheered, we played games. Beautiful fire ring, Stars, bats, bull frogs. We will be back next year!

We actually moved to site 18 that was recommended to us. Short walk to the serene river. Very quiet location. Directions had not been sent to us. So we traveled some challenging roads to get there. Don’t follow Google maps! Get directions from host. Good clean bathhouse.

This space has been unmatched in all our research for a place to camp with our large family. Secluded, peaceful, relaxing and oh so beautiful. Right alongside one of the calmest shores on the whole lake! Your own private water access and tons of space for all our tents and vehicles, canopies and the like... and we only used the "lower level." The host graciously provided us with additional firewood which is wonderful for the chilly eves under the stars. If you love just being in nature... and can survive without the fancy amenities then this is the spot! You will even be sung to sleep every night by the chorus of bullfrogs and awaken to the sound of birds singing!

Welcome to the river! This beautiful 10 acre property is located on the scenic main Umpqua River. Enjoy excellent, year-round fishing, kayaking, and swimming right from your private and secluded campsite. Our property is located between 2 boat ramps which makes kayak, canoe, or raft floats a breeze. The property features beautiful, mature trees, fun bedrock to explore, and an amazing swimming hole (in the summertime when the river level is low enough). Sit at the river’s edge and enjoy the sounds of the water. Be sure to watch for soaring Eagles, jumping fish, and the occasional mink on the opposite river's edge! There are multiple wineries nearby and lots of hiking trails within a short drive. There is no cell service at the property - please plan ahead and check local burn ban policies before you go. The "owners area" camping spot is a large, graveled, gated area that has trees between the road and parking. There is also a fire pit on the lower level overlooking the river, a hidden tree swing, and deck with picnic table. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a fully manicured campground. There are bushes and grasses that grow year round. We do our best to keep things trimmed and accessible. Sometimes (especially in the spring) things grow more quickly than we can get to them. Please don't expect this to be a perfectly mowed, backyard-type site.

Many adventures to be had here on the central coast. Your hosts are avid surfers and cyclists and can help direct you to the best spots to match your skill level. The property is close to town as well as bike loops, gravel roads and trails. We're also close to the beach. Within a short drive surfers of all levels can find something fun to ride nearly everyday of summer and fall. The 18 hole golf course is just down the street from the property and the town of Waldport is 2 miles away. Yachats is a short 12 minute drive to the south where you can find amazing restaurants where they serve fresh roasted coffee along with a large menu of drinks and treats at places such as The Green Salmon Cafe. White sand beaches are located just down the hill from us where you can walk all the way from the mouth of the Alsea river to the mouth of the Yachats river. Our names are David and Nicole, this is a bit of our story. We were going through all that stuff and conversations that you do, when you know your spirit needs a big shift. It took two years and we narrowed it down to two choices both included letting go of "things" and the life we both thought we were working towards. In July of 2017 we closed escrow on our second choice, we purchased a neglected 1949 roadside motel and RV park in Bandon, OR. We haven't looked back and each day we pour our hearts out to revive the property. Some days you notice what still needs to be done there are many plans to make our vision whole, but most times you just notice the little things and it feels comfortable and welcoming. We are both thankful for all the guests who have made our space theirs. David and I invite you to enjoy a clean, simple curated space to relax and reboot. Welcome to the Bandon Wayside.
