Bar UK River Ranch Camp &amp; Ride

The place is wonderful, spacious, and very clean. The hosts are exceptionally attentive, incredibly kind and friendly. We were able to buy firewood there, and the bathrooms were spotless. We brought kayaks but didn't use them since there were kayaks available for public use. It felt so peaceful. We also took advantage of the family horseback riding, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Without a doubt, it's a place to return to and highly recommend.

Camping on Michelle and Erik’s property was amazing! Michelle was so attentive whenever we needed anything and made sure to check in to make sure we had what we needed. Erik was fantastic for helping us arrange a lovely riding adventure. Overall it was so beautiful and well kept we all were very happy to be there. Make sure to take a kayak down the river if you get a chance, the wildlife was incredible!

This is our 2nd summer here, we just love it. We come in a big group and spread out, tons of room for the kids to roam and play. Michelle is super accomodating, let me check in early and gave us directions to walking trails. We'll be back again next year!

Wildlife Sanctuary 🐦 🦌 🐢

This place is a sanctuary for bird lovers and wildlife ! Michelle was so nice and an amazing hostees ! Great for floating around the river and seeing turtles, deer, rabbits and many birds. Waking to the sounds of them chirping at 5 am was actually refreshing ! A great place for families. Not so sure about really young lads because of high drop offs & only way to access river is a steep floating staircase and dock. Definitely a camping destination and next time we are horseback riding. Just call them to schedule your ride while you stay !! Happy Camping 🏕☺️

Another great time at this amazing campground. The weather was not the best - too cold to go swimming which we did all of our last visit - but still so beautiful and peaceful. Michelle is the best to communicate with for everything. Will be back again next year!

This was a beautiful and well managed site! The river was lovely and the site was spacious. We had a few small children with us, and knew going into it that there was a steep drop into the water from our site. The dock going down to the water is a bit nerve wracking with the littles but we made it work and enjoyed the provided kayaks for getting them across the river to the sandy area. There were provided life jackets but make sure to bring if your kids are under 30lbs! We also want to give a PSA if you come over 4th of July in the future - there are A LOT of fireworks surrounding you and nearby. Could be fun viewing but for our dogs and little kids it was a lot. Perhaps bring headphones and a loud sound machine. Otherwise we loved our stay!

Not What We Expected At All

We arrived on the site expecting from the pictures to have a more private, sectioned off zone to camp in. We were disappointed to see that the tents for all of the campsites are set up in an open field, in rows, with basically no privacy at all. I don’t believe that the hosts were misleading intentionally, but we expected something completely different than what we saw when we got there. Just know before you book that you will be able to see your neighbors getting in and out of their tent and you can expect the same. It’s basically a community campsite. We were also fairly surprised that when we voiced this concern right away on the day that we arrived, we asked if it would be possible to get a refund of any kind, and we were met with defensiveness and hostility, which was disappointing. I think that the advertising for the property should paint a clearer picture about how private everything truly is. If for nothing else but the host response, I would never come back to this site, but the lack of privacy definitely isn’t for me either. Understand this before you book.

Relaxing camp getaway

We had a great time at Bar UK! Site 5 is definitely the biggest campsite and we loved the space and view of the river. Portapotties were well-kept. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. I highly recommend walking down to the horse camp for a nice outing.

Quiet and peaceful. A sky full of stars at night with a calm lazy river all day. Very little wind or mosquitos. The sites are large and the area of LA Center has so much to do outdoors!

A very sweet little spot. Pretty open area with private enough camp sites. Very clean and easy to access. Not a ton of places to walk around right there, but lovely river and great to have some kayaks right there that they provide. Water was easy. Fun spot!

We love Bar UK River Ranch! It’s a special place! This was our 3rd visit. It never disappoints. Kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, horseback riding, star gazing. The sites are large & spacious. I can’t say enough about it!

Exceptional experience!

Michelle and Erik were exceptional hosts! They were welcoming and attentive. We were even able to book a last minute horseback ride for our kids. The campsite was exactly as described, even more picturesque than we anticipated. The rope swing was a hit, as were the kayaks. The river is calm enough that this nervous Mom was comfortable with the kids playing in it all day. We saw bald eagles, rabbits, hawks, tons of birds and hard coyotes both nights. We will definitely be back!

Camping at Bar UK was so much fun! All the sites seems great but we really enjoyed our stay at site #4. Erik and Michelle are great hosts. They checked in on us and promptly answered our questions, and even brought us a knive and lighter because we had forgotten to bring ours for the campfire. There are two single kayaks that are available on a first come first served basis, with life vests also being available. The water is calm enough for our 9 and 12 years old to kayak alone. The swings were also a hit with the kids. I enjoyed watching the birds and just sitting by the river. We would love to come back again!

Exceptional camping, dog friendly!

This is the best Hipcamp spot we have been to since we got our teardrop trailer in May 2025. The views of the river are stunning, the land is level, there is a ton of space and shaded andthe porta potties are the cleanest I’ve ever used. I was actually shocked at how clean they were! Not only that, but the hosts were very responsive and even left bouquets of wildflowers on the picnic tables at each spot. We brought portable fencing to keep our dogs in our site and it worked very well having the privacy barriers of the river, trees and thick brush on either side and the fencing just along the front of our site. There’s a dock that you can launch a kayak from, and the site that we had, site 3, even had a hammock. We loved it so much that we booked the only other weekend we could find this summer with a spot available!

Heaven on Earth.

The Camp site was perfection. We were able to wake up next to the water every morning and cook up our breakfast to the sound of bird song and horse whinnying in the distance. My dog loved having his space to roam free. The site hosts were absolutely wonderful and so sweet! Having firewood available for purchase on site, water access, and an sani can were immensely helpful. Any questions we had or help we needed was immediately taken care of. Cannot recommend enough 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Gorgeous, peaceful spot!

Can’t say enough positive things about this campsite and our hosts. Coming from Vancouver, this was only 30 minutes away, which was wonderful. The sites are incredibly well maintained, there is enough space in between that you don’t feel on top of other people, but you don’t have to walk far for anything. The kayaks were an awesome addition, and our littles could not be more excited about the horses. Michelle and Erik were fantastic - knowledgeable and kind. We will absolutely be back, hopefully sooner than later!

Our family had such a great time on the river. Even though we got some rain everyday we put our paddle boards in the water from the dock and played. The river is super peaceful and you get to see and hear lots of birds. We lucked out and had the whole place to ourselves even. Really nice to have the provided Adirondack chairs for around the campfire and watching the river too. Hosts were always very quick to respond and helpful. Road and property clean, well maintained and so was the port-o-potty on site. We even visited their horses to say hello for change of scene one afternoon. Mostly though we relaxed in the camp area and enjoyed the river. Will return for sure.

i loved this trip so much!! #bestcampingtripever made some core memories with my nephews swimming in the river, playing in the hammock, and playing hide n seek tag at night :) we love how the fire pit is right by the water, the sites feel so private, and the portpotties are clean! also we got to feed the horses carrots that we brought ::))

Our family had an absolute blast while camping here! Erik and Michelle are super organized, very responsive and overall just wonderful hosts! The UK RANCH is close to town, yet gives off the peaceful and relaxing vibe being nestled right along the water with privacy between each site. We paddle boarded and fished too. Firewood was available for purchase when we booked so the bundles were there waiting for us by the pit upon arrival. Can’t forget to mention the cute mason jar of flowers Michelle left on our picnic table as a warm welcome!!

Peaceful river retreat

When you first pull into the ranch there is a huge barn with stalls for horses. We made some equine friends. The camps are down a rough road to the right- our little Mazda made it, but go slow. Each of the 5 lovely spots are directly next to the river. I love that they are spaced far enough apart that you feel like you have space. There is a privacy hedge between them all. I stayed at 5, but they all looked great. 3 and 4 were a bit smaller but still completely doable for a couple tents. 1 & 2 were rented out to a large family gathering and they were having a blast on the rope swing over there. Those spots are perfect for a group. There is a nice community spot in the middle with little kiddos life jackets and some paddles for the couple of community kayaks. I took a jaunt down the river one afternoon and saw some beautiful cranes. Fresh flowers on the table, and little stack of wood greeted us. It was really peaceful to watch the wildlife and listen to the frogs and owls at night. It felt safe and wholesome. Nobody ever came to check in on us, which was kind of nice, everybody just minding their own. It is a working family owned ranch and they were busy with bringing in the hay which we got to see. I wish I’d have gone on a horse ride, but maybe next time. I would definitely go again.

The campsite was spacious, giving our kids plenty of room to spread out and play. The river view was beautiful, and we were lucky to have much of the campground to ourselves for the 6 days we were there. Michelle was warm, friendly, and easy to communicate with. The convenience to Portland is hard to beat!

So great. Reserved all 5 sites for a group trip. I didn't stay in 4, but it seemed nice - all of the sites are unique and lovely. The river is perfect for swimming, paddling and floating. The hosts were friendly, responsive and hands-off - we met Michelle when we arrived and then did not hear from them the rest of the weekend.

So glad Erik and Michelle have chosen to share this very special place. We reserved all 5 sites for a group camping trip with 10 families. It was perfect and they were super accommodating. I loved all of the little touches, like the flowers on the tables. Site 5 was the largest and where most of the families camped. We used 1 and 2 for our group kitchen and hangout area. Site 5 does have a rope descent to the river, but there was a tree down in the river right there and it wasn't the best access to the water. It's just a few steps to the community site and dock for the best access.
