#11 Canvas Safari Tent on Platform
in Camp Nauvoo, CaliforniaSite #11
The site was very private and far enough from the main area (lodge/bathrooms/lake). It is a bit of a walk up two small hills so transporting the equipment was a struggle (more so going up than downward). We needed two people to pull and push a wagon.
The tent had a bunk cot and 2 single cots. We were able to fit a twin sized aerobed in the middle. My two boys (ages 9 and 11) were also able to sleep in the middle on twin air mats. The 6 of us fit comfortably in the tent. You can also pitch a 2 person tent outside
Tent had a mosquito net and a "black out" curtain so it was nice and dark inside.
There was a picnic table outside and a trail behind the tent. The only downside was that they didn't allow charcoal bbq's. Luckily they provided large propane bbq's at the lodge so you will have to bring your food down and back up.
Hosts Greg and Laurie provided s'mores on Saturday night at the communal firepit. There's also a playground with swings, slide, basketball and volleyball. A small lake for kiddies to swim in (they provide floaties too). Definitely a place for families with young kids. Felt very safe here.
I would def come back to camp here.
