For beginner campers, this is prime real estate. Campsites are pretty close together and there are restrooms nearby. BBQ grills surround each campsite and if you're lucky, so are friendly, fellow campers. There is great shade coverage on hot days and the wind gusting through will cool off anyone.
For beginner campers, this is great place to start. Campsites are pretty close together and there are restrooms nearby. BBQ grills surround each campsite and if you're lucky, so are friendly, fellow campers. If you're not so lucky, annoying, loud ones, haha. Finding sites with appropriate shading can be tricky so get out early to snag one if you plan on staying for more than a night. I'd suggest bringing a tarp for shade just in case you don't. The water is nice and refreshing and if you know someone with a boat, water skiing is always a blast! I've gone fishing and have never had bad luck catching at least a little, ol' blue gill.
Having gone in the summer, I had a rather bad experience here. There is no shading around so if you plan on going, make sure to bring something to cover yourself with. The lake was refreshing and my friends and I were able to find an area that was pretty secluded to get away. With the right people, this campground can be a blast! With the wrong ones, get ready to complain together because of the blistering heat, ha.
These campsites are spaced very appropriately from each other and because of this, the Molino Basin Campground has to be my favorite around the Tucson surrounding area. It gets relatively cold at night so make sure to bring appropriate gear. The last time I camped up here it snowed and stuck on a day it said it wasn't even going to rain so prepare for all types of weather. I've camped up here multiple times and never get tired of it!
