I would highly recommend staying at Thornhill Farm if you're touring through the Northeast Kingdom.
We came to the area to attend Bread & Puppets theater.

All the campgrounds listed on the Bread & Puppets site were booked or didn't take one night reservations on the weekend.
I hadn't even occurred to me to check Hipcamp until those other options were eliminated.
I'm so glad the campgrounds didn't work out, this was a much better experience.
Todd was generous with his space and time. The tent site was perfect for our needs, flat and comfortable. I am especially qualified to comment on this since I forgot my sleeping pad. I was grateful we weren't on a campground gravel pad and instead were in soft grass.
There was well maintained and clean outhouse (which was not clear to me in the booking, I thought we'd have to use the woods like we do when we primitive camp in state and national forests) and a great source of water. And we were even able to take shelter under a farm building porch during the evening rainstorm.
The location felt safe safe and close to nature but also close to great amenities (within driving distance). We loved hearing the coyotes at night and birds early in the morning.
Thornhill Farm is central to many Northeast Kingdom gems and attractions including Willoughby State forest and Willoughby Lake - beautiful and great hiking; Bread & Puppet Museum and Theatre - a one-of-a-kind experience; Hill Farmstead Brewery - named best brewery in the world in 2018; the adorable town of Greensboro on Caspian Lake - with public beach and The Willey's Store;, Hardwick - great co-op grocery and small bookstore; the Cabot Creamery - practically a Vermont institution, and more.
I would recommend Thornhill Farm for anyone who enjoys nature, is interested in, or appreciates working farms, and is looking for a peaceful and centrally located spot to camp in the Northeast Kingdom.
