Camp Tule Elk/Hunters Hideout
in Camp Tule Elk, CaliforniaCamp Tule Elk is a great place to get away and be in a true ranch experience. With their two bunkhouses and plenty of surrounding land to pitch a tent, you'll love staying here. The bunkhouses were extremely clean and cozy. The ranch has two horseshoe games setup next to the pond, so have some fun game time or relax on the pond deck. Firepits outside offer a delightful evening under the stars, listening to owls hoot and coyotes howl (and the occasional bark from the surrounding neighbor's dogs). The mornings are brisk and quiet. Don't forget, this is a ranch so the chickens may wake you up at dawn. Personally, you don't want to miss the sunrise and all the bird songs that come with it! Get up early, brew your coffee, and sit on the deck with one of the owner's dogs by your side (Yes - The ranch is dog-friendly!) A quick 20 min drive from the ranch and you'll be in the Carrizo National Monument spotting Elk and Antelope in the vast empty plains (and let's not forget, this is prime viewing for wildflower season...especially during a super bloom).
