in Sierra Ranch - Cabins & Tents, CaliforniaRiver Ridge Ranch is a special treat. This is a spot you enjoy whether you are an experienced camper or camping for the first time. The campsites are large and well-spaced with perfect options for having both sun and shade all day long. They are very private and at night you feel like you are truly out in nature. Yet just a short stroll away are some of the best amenities I've had at any campsite. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, an outdoor stove, grills, and fridge. There was an electric kettle for tea and a french press for coffee. The bathrooms are charmingly rustic outhouses kept impeccably clean, with hand sanitizer and electric lights. The outdoor shower has all the privacy you need while providing a beautiful view of the woods. There is a gorgeous fire ring surrounded by benches that the hosts generously provide some firewood for (no fires at the campsites!). The river and swimming hole are idyllic with a little sand beach- no wading through mud to swim! There are numerous, large shade structures around the property that are as beautiful as they are functional. I'll be coming back for sure, either just to get away from the summer fog for some hot summer weather and with friends who want to experience the outdoors without completely giving up all creature comforts.
Secluded Mountain Hideaway
in The Ranch at Badger Creek, CaliforniaVincent met us at the gate of the ranch. We drove 15miles on a well-graded dirt road across outstanding California rolling hills landscape. We set our camp at site 1 under the shade of two big trees. The sites have chairs and a picnic table for you to use.
Nearby there is a creek running with ice cold water. When the sun is high and the temperature rises the creek is a great place to chill.
Make sure you get dinner before or after sunset, you will want to spend time just contemplating the outstanding color gradients on the surrounding hills when the sun goes down.
Light pollution is inexistent at night and you will be able to enjoy great dark skies.
There is a clean bathroom with running water for the campers to use.
Vincent is welcoming and always willing to help. We had a great time and we enjoyed the opportunity to drive through Tejon Ranch to stay at this gem.
We will definitely come back!
Kern Valley Campsite
in Kernville Mountain Camping!, CaliforniaIt is a basic plot of land with no facilities. It is great as an overflow option if you want a quiet and economic place to sleep or if the Kernville area is fully booked.
You camp next to other properties, expect neighbors. The campsite doesn't offer any facilities so bring your shovel for your necessities and drinking water.
The Kern River area has a great offering with a lot of options for water sports enthusiasts, fisherman, hikers, or history seekers.
Kernville downtown has a good amount of Coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. Water sports rentals are offered in town too.
Lake Isabella is a gem in the Southern Eastern Sierras, it won't deceive you.
The Ranch House
in bar2b Ranch, CaliforniaArtist's Retreat is a jewel in the Sierra Foothills. It is located on the way to Kings Canyon National Park in the middle of the countryside with frogs and crickets that will serenade you before bed.
It was cold at night and Brad offered to light up our wood stove to keep the place warm. He is a great person to talk with and he will be helping you with anything you need from the property. In front of the house, there is a porch to keep you out of the sun with a grill and picnic tables.
The 100 year-old homestead ranch is outstanding. There are plenty of acres to hike around for a morning walk with your warm cup of coffee. The property has lots to explore and feels like it is even larger than it is. There are two cows you can seek out on the ranch, a herd of llamas next door, lots of woodpeckers and Western blue birds.
There is a small local restaurant nearby at 2mins driving to get dinner if you don't feel like cooking.
Explore the ranch and the cool old barn. If you are into photography you will have an incredible set for your pictures!
Site 4 - Cache Creek
in Clear Lake Campground, est. 1950s, CaliforniaShady Acres Campground is a great campground for everyone- families, novice campers, and road trippers. Bring your fishing gear and catch big channel cats along the river. Boat rentals are available at the general store. Lisa and the camp hosts are great people who are friendly and accommodating. They will make sure you have all you need and are having fun. Bathrooms are shinny-clean with showers (included with the campsite!) and flush toilets. Also bring your swimsuits as there is a pool. I highly recommend the campground and I will be returning again soon. Clear Lake is an enormous, natural, fresh water lake of about 70 sq miles worth exploring. Also Lisa mentioned that vintage trailers coming up in the campground! yay!
Site 1 - Streamside Cabins
in Hot Creek Ranch, CaliforniaThe cabins are incredible. The ranch is gorgeous. You will feel like you are in the middle of the eastern sierras. The ranch has an extensive area to walk around, fly fish and hike. The cabins are full equipped. You only need to bring food. It is kids friendly with a grass area in front of the cabins to let your kids play. Plenty of areas to visit nearby. Hot creek geological site is at 1min driving up a well graded dirt road. Mammoth lakes is at 5min drive with grocery stores, shopping, lakes, mountain-bike areas and the Brewery! The ranch is extremely quiet at night with great dark skies. I highly recommended it. I will def visit again!
