Site 1 - Snug Harbor
in Gard Enterprises Retreats, New YorkPrimitive private woods creek pond
Site was as described, much bigger then expected,, very private as there was no one else there this weekend at the other sites. Our site was great for a family camp. We had 4 tents set up plus the kitchen canopy with plenty of room left! The host was great and meet us there and showed us where things were located on the property. The area was clean and he had a wood pile all stacked up but it was unfortunately all wet from all the rain recently.
The outhouse is well, an outhouse. Not a porta-potty type one that I had thought. The water after running for about 15 mins was crystal clear and could be passed off as bottled water! There is a covered trash can there by the out house as well, most trash could of been burned if it wasnât raining so much.
The only down fall is it rained most of the time we were there and it made it impossible to drive up to the site so we had to carry everything by hand to site 1 which Is a good walk up hill from the parking area. It was muddy and the bugs where everywhere but thatâs to be expected camping out in the woods.
The area has lots of nice shops and restaurants. If you plan in advance you should be able to secure a boat rental from the marine or paradise bay family camp ground. You can also pay $5 a person to use that camp grounds amenities for the day including pool, beach, fishing area etc. which is MUCH cheaper then staying at that camp ground.
I would defiantly recommend to anyone that wants a primitive camping site with a GREAT host.
