in High Desert Camping, New MexicoSite 6 - Dove Creek
in Star 🌟 Gazer, CaliforniaThis is a great campsite about 20min outside of Paso Robles. I've stayed here twice and had it all to ourself both times. The Campsite 6 is located next to a small pond, with running water, gas grill, lots of shade and a fully stocked fire pit. We rolled in late both times, and it was easy to find. There are a lot of little amenities for small kids, including a small swing set, a zip line (for real) and some short and flat walks directly out from our campsite. Overall, great little site and would happily stay again if we're passing through. Such a beautiful area.

in Dreamy Wild Horse Ranch Cabin, CaliforniaAwesome spot and host
This is a terrific, safe and fun location. Danielle is a kind host, and runs a fully functioning horse ranch. There are lots of animals (horses, ponies, goats, a pig) which made it a perfect visit for our 4-year old son. We got a full tour of the farm and were warmly accommodated. She also rents appartments to her riders, so there were a few other people around but no one else camping. It was very easy to feel comfortable but also out of the way. If we had longer, we would have stayed and hiked the paths that lead up to the Pacific Crest Trail right from camp. Very special location, and great for people wanting to get away in the woods but aren't quite comfortable with a fully wild site.
