in Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, UtahI would recommend. It is easily accessible and the lake is smaller so the crowds are not as pressing. There is a wonderful hike directly west, high on a plateau that is an impressive, exclusive place because it takes some scrambling to get to it initially.
