Ridge RV
in Hemlock Ridge Homestead, MichiganAwesome upper peninsula basecamp
April's RV was a great basecamp for our UP adventures! The property is nestled quietly in the woods, a short drive to the conveniences of Marquette, central to all types of outdoor pursuits in Marquette county (hiking, paddling, rock climbing, MTB), and a reasonable trip to Munising and Pictured Rocks. The house is close by, but it's easy enough to stay private by the fire pit if that's your preference. April was very helpful with recommendations and area info (including a perfect sunset hike on Hogback Mountain and the North Country Trail that we didn't even have to drive to). My sedan handled the dirt roads with no issues, just take it slow.
Site 26 - Sandstone Creek
in Sandstone Creek, IllinoisWe stayed with Greg to view the eclipse, and you wouldn't have known it was their first weekend hosting! We were greeted by the road (with cookies!) and directed back to the field where the campsites were set up. The sites were fairly well organized, there was plenty of firewood, and the pit toilet was clean, well stocked, and well lit. The field was recently cleared, so it was a little lumpy to sleep, but that shouldn't be a problem for campers for too long. It sounds like they have some great plans for the camp moving forward, so I'll be sure to check back in.
