Celesterra is a 230 sq. ft. sacred space that floats between earth and sky about 15 feet off of the ground. Built by the television show Treehouse Masters, it is a beautiful, serene space that is cozy, warm and inviting. PLEASE NOTE: All food and cooking are strictly vegetarian with no garlic or onions (so the next guests might be able to appreciate the space as well). No meat on the land at all, please.
Celesterra features a beautiful living area with wood stove and leather club chairs, a dining table, fully stocked kitchenette and a bathroom with a composting toilet. It has no running water, but glorious spring water is supplied for drinking, washing dishes and cleaning hands. A beautiful shower (sometimes shared - we can let you know) is available in the main house, (about a three minute walk - try a walking meditation back and forth each day!). You can restock up on water there, or walk about 1 minute from the treehouse to where the spring overflows into the creek and fill up there. It also features a large front deck with fabulous views of the mountains.
The bedroom is located in a loft above the kitchen area. It features a queen size memory foam mattress (like a cloud), with all natural bedding. It is accessed by a 9-foot ladder. If you have physical limitations, using the ladder might prove difficult for you, please let us know. See photos included here or we can send photos.
Only serious intentions to do deep personal work will be considered. If you would like to apply, please answer the following question: Please write a thorough explanation to the question: What is my inner most heart yearning for during my retreat in Celesterra and why?
Celesterra is a part of Butterfly Farm Sanctuary is a small, 22-acre spiritual sanctuary for all life that either lives or journeys here. It sits at 3,000 feet in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. It has 1,100 feet of riverfront and about the same amount of a rushing stream that is so clean you can drink from it. All water is spring water that comes right from the mountain.
The locals named this property Butterfly many years ago. While both pastures fill with butterflies in the summer, our work is in the area of the transformation of human life in order to make a better world and as such, we thought it was a wonderful name to keep.
Across the bridge from the property used to be a small village of shops we are told for at one time this valley was a thriving area due to lumber harvesting of the trees, the beautiful ancient trees which now no longer stand. But this is the history of the land here.
One other thing. To survive in these mountains you had to hunt. A hunting culture is strong here and you will here gunfire echoing from time to time. We do not allow any hunting or firearms on the property.
