A gorgeous place in itself, Ranchito Feliz is also a convenient and lovely place to rest especially if you're planning to go to both Bryce Canyon and Kodachrome Basin State Park. We appreciated the opportunity to enjoy this special place that Roy has created. He's put a ton of work into making it a welcoming spot for travelers while keeping the land's natural beauty and outdoors feel intact. We really enjoyed chatting with him and getting his local insights. At night, we looked up and the Big Dipper and countless stars were right there, twinkling away, and a couple hours later the Milky Way made its appearance too. Be aware that composting toilets are the thing there, so read up about it to manage your expectations. It's really not as scary as you might think and for six of seven in our traveling pod, absolutely worth it. The one person who was squeamish was able to use the flush facility at Kodachrome Basin State Park, as we planned to spend the next morning there and headed over to arrive at park opening time, and yes, she still found it a worthwhile stay!

We really enjoyed this stay, even though it was just a quick overnight stop! Poppi and her family warmly welcomed us on our arrival, showed us around, and were extremely considerate of whether we were wanting to be social or needed privacy. They invited us to join their bonfire but made it clear that they understood we'd had a long drive, might be tired or just not up to it, and not to feel obligated (we did join them and we really enjoyed getting to know the family). There is a lot of space on their property, surrounded by trees, and while their house is in view in the distance, the spot we parked our little campervan in was secluded and quiet. We rested well and comfortably and had to be on our way the next morning, but wished we had more time to just chill out there. These are the kind of people travelers want to meet: welcoming, considerate, kind, and easy to talk to. We had a great time here!
